What's a razor?

That is almost a real question in our house. He has a very full beard (think ZZ Top) and she doesn't shave any body parts either, although sometimes in summer the armpits get a trim.

I read recently that porn stars and strippers shave with Neosporin. Apparently it prevents the red bumps and ingrown hairs. I personally have never tried it, but I have to admit that when I watch porn, I never see little red bumps on anyone.

 

I just recently tried brazillian waxing and I think I am going to stick with it. It lasts so much longer than shaving and the regrowth is not as coarse. AND - very few ingrown hairs. I use a Braun electric shaver, which works fine. It has a setting for longer hair and the foil shves the short hairs.

It says it has a trademarked "bump guard" on the blade, so cuts the hair at just the right skin level to prevent bumps. (Cutting hair below the skin level is what causes razor bumps).

 

Anyway, I noticed the razor does help prevent bumps, if you use it correctly. However, I would maintain in between shavings with a Lady Remington rechargeable shaver and also a men's Norelco D-finer rechargeable. I found they both can shave me just about as close as the razor, and with very few bumps. Plus, with the D-finer, it has a smaller head that makes it perfect for maneuvering around my inner labia and clit area. So I use them almost exclusively now to stay smooth. Oh, and moisturizing afterward is still important too.

You're welcome The razor is actually made for a man's face and I think specifically for an African American man's face, and so that's why I think it works. I'm assuming that with the curly hair, they have more problems with razor bumps. And so since most people, regardless of race, have curly hair in the pubic region, then razor bumps happen there even if they don't on their face.

We shave although I prefer to wax. I get mine professionally done cause I've tried it myself and have done nothing but bruise and hurt myself. However, when we're meeting people when the hair is growing back in, I'll shave it down smooth.

 

I find waxing helps stop the itchies when it grows back. I also find I have less ingrown hairs and less razor bumps. If you find someone who does it well, it doesn't hurt too much

I use a wan put out by Nair and it works great. The hair should be about a 1/4 inch before waxing.. Its not too painful either and the results are excellent not only does it take a while to grow back but it comes back finer too. Its a microwaveable wax by nair try it let me know what u think. I think you will like the results.

 

I tried the wand too and I liked it with the Nair but they have an even better one out now that looks like a deodorant stick that you use to apply it and it kicks ass. So I use that and then the wand to scrape the hair off in the shower. I admit though that I have to do two applications of nair to make it work.

Yep ... you do have to let it grow out some ... about 1/4 inch, but what we've found is the more you wax, the less you have to do it (Ladies -- kinda like the eyebrow thing ... I can go a long time between eyebrow waxing ...). We're re-waxing about every six weeks. And when it grows back, it's very very fine and not as coarse, which is pretty cool, too!

 

I'd like to hear from those who've had the laser. My wonderful lover boy looked into that a while back, and was told it was against the law (maybe just in the state of VA, I don't know) to perform laser on males because of fertility issues. Since we've checked out of the baby-making b'ness (love 'em, got 'em, don't want any more ), it's a non-issue. How often do you have to do treatments? How expensive is it??

I shave stubbley because as was said before getting really close can hurt and i get alot of in grown hairs and bumps if im not careful,is there anything that can help with those ? i would not mind waxing if someone else did it i think im just to much of a wuss to pull that strip myself cause i know itll hurt.

 

I (Jan) shave every day in the shower, with a sensitive skin shaving cream, rinsing with cold water (to close the pores). I use Eucerin cream afterwards, and very rarely do I get ingrowns. My hubby actually plucks his shaft and 'balls' (yes, I cringe too!).
