For those who are shaved... if it wasn't "in", would you still do it?

Recommended Posts

Ok, it seems like so much from the 70's and 80's is coming back in vogue... the skinny jeans, gouchos, men's mustaches and long hair. So many of us shave our pubes (guys and girls) in this lifestyle. Do you think if shaving goes out of vogue in general, would you stop shaving because the "in" thing became a full bush? Or do you think you'd keep it shaved? If shaving went out of general fashion, would it still be in fashion for swingers?

Maybe some of you who can remember swinging in the 70's will fill us in on what going down was like back in the day of big bushes... would YOU want to go back to that?

I shave, and prefer to keep it that way. Occasionally, I might get a wild hair and decide to leave a landing strip . . . But my "lawn maintenance" preferences will not be affected by any trends!

We would not be influenced by any trends as a general rule and would not want others to be influenced by them. We think it is important to do what makes us feel good about ourselves and if following the trend is what does it then we'll go with it. Neither of us are fully shaved but we do keep it very neat and clean. As far as others, we are not turned off by the occasional "big bush" we have seen...it just makes it different and that is one of the great things about it.

My husband actually prefers me with hair. He notices every time I even trim it. He doesn't like it when I shave it, but I do it anyway before we go to the clubs...I tell him that I'm doing it for the other woman's pleasure and he's okay with it.

I wouldn't stop shaving...the itch would drive me bonkers. Even now, I shave every other day or I can't stand the itch of the hair growing back in.

I don't know if it went out of fashion in general, if it would go out of fashion for swingers...if it did, I suppose I'd just have to be an odd ball in swinging.

I've always had a person theory about shaving habits...Back when swim suits covered more women didn't concern themselves so much about shaving in the bikini area. As the fashions of swim suits became more and more revealing women started shaving more and more of the pubic area (who would want hair sticking out? )...so, unless swim suits start going back to a fashion of covering more up or hair showing in the pubic area becomes vogue, then I think shaving will remain in fashion.

Julie, You did not have to go back to the 70's to remember the greatness of BUSH! :D

Shaving did not really become popular until about 92, 93.

If you take a look back at the Playboy models you will find that most of them in 91 and 92 still had "bush" but it was being highly trimmed at that time. By 93 there was no more bush and it took off with swingers withing a year or so.

Bush has been coming back. Personally I am happy about that but it is what works for others. My choice does not make it right for you.

I obviously didn't get enough sleep last night because I'm finding everything funny.... I now have this visual of Lee pulling up this thread then running to the closet to find his Playboy stash to see just exactly when they stopped showing bush....lol.

But, seriously, thanks for adding, I was wondering what those who'd been around swinging long enough to remember the bush would have to say. So, you've been seeing the re-emergence of the bush lately?

I did not have to run to the closet. You know me, it is all about the computer.

I have all the centerfolds for every year right here on the computer. :D

Much easier to check them out that way and a lot cheaper too!

Yes, been seeing more Bush lately and did not even have to go to the white house to see it.

Dangit... he beat me to the joke!

Speaking for myself, I tend to trim (not shave), but only for heat-management reasons. Yeah, yeah. Snicker if you like, I'll wait.

I'm a pretty big guy, and getting hot "down there" is a valid concern. The less hair I have, the cooler I stay. The cooler I stay, the happier I am.

I trim the top short and shave the jewels (she doesn't like the hair in her mouth). She trims her's short and sometime shaves.

I would love for clean to go out of style, then I could always keep it trimmed without people looking strange.

Interesting topic. To answer the question directly, I can't see us going back the way of the bush. But that's not why I think it's interesting.

A few posts back, TNT opined that it may remain popular in swinging circles even if it went out of fashion in general.

How do we know it's in fashion in general? I mean, outside of swinging and newdie beaches (Sandy Hook baby, it'll be warm enough soon!) and the occasional locker room I don't see a whole lota newd folks. I've looked, but never once have I seen a neeked person in the grocery store. I keep telling my neighbor I wanna see her naked but she hasn't got drunk enough yet lol. I don't think Playmate of the Month counts as "in general" either.

Man, what a great thread!!

Mr. Fuse and I did not start shaving until we started swinging. Now, I am with Theresa -- I have to shave every other day or the itch drives me bonkers. If bush were in, I'd be torn now. For comfort, my preference would be to keep it trimmed enough that heat and sweat were not a concern, but long enough so that itch wasn't a factor.

Problem is, I've been going gray in some "strategic" areas... so I like getting rid of that too. Hmm... what I would do... I don't know!

Well, I have never been one to be in the "in"crowd..I have never in my life done things that others were doing..So with that being said, I would continue to shave as I hate having hair there and prefer the way it feels when it is nice and smooth.:)

I love my wife bare and without hair down there the feeling of a well lubricated bare fanny is unbelievable and she agrees that its more sensual and would never go back to the bush whatever the trend but it is all personel choice isnt it

Ms P has always shaved daily.

Mr P started shaving when entering the lifestyle.... Since Ms P doesn't care if it's shaved or not, it would probably be reduced to trimming vs shaving if we got out of the lifestyle.

As a kid I hung out a LOT at the pool. It wasn't unusual to see pubes sticking out of a swimsuit back then. Of course, we boys looked, but never said anything, because we didn't want the girls to get all embarrassed and tuck them in. We even had a name for them, we called them "Curlies" The first time I saw them was when I was about 11, on a neighbor girl who was about 17 at the time. It never occured to me that "Judy" would have hair on her pussy, I guess I thought that only happened after you were married or something.

If the swimsuits on this linked site, and similar sites, become popular, then look for a change in shaving fashion...and not just "down there."

OMG, how could you keep from drowning trying to swim in all of that!! For some reason, Granny from the Beverly Hillbillies was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the pictures, think there was an episode where she sported something similar while swimming.

All those bright colors look a little "worldly" to me though, much too flashy :)

I would still shave and trim whats left because I have gotten to the point where I feel the one eyed monster scars the pubic hairs into chaos, so I have to keep some form of organization down there.

This is a really good question. I guess for most of us we assume it is in vogue from things we hear and see.... watching Sex & The City, reading cosmo, and Playboy for that matter, I would say all of those are good indications of what is 'in vogue' and definately go beyond our lifestyle.

Wow...thanks for posting that link Thrax...I've been looking for some new swim wear...rotflmao

All silliness aside. Back in the day, like when I was 15 or 16 (around 13 years ago or so), I would watch some porn with my boyfriend. Most of the girls were at the very least closely trimmed...most had a 'landing strip', some were totally bare.

Around that time, I swiped his beard trimmer and used it on myself. I wasn't trying to be particuarly trendy...it was more of a hygiene issue...I just felt cleaner, etc. So my preference at the very least is to keep it trimmed super short, next is a landing strip, and then totally shaved.

Jeff's preference is for me to be totally shaved (he is trimmed down there). He does chalk it up to having come of age in the 70's...almost every female was 'natural'. He had one partner that was totally bare and of course, that really stood out and turned him on. Lucky for him it's the 'in' thing to do now.

If it were not the popular thing to do, I would still keep it trimmed up at the very least.

I never shave...I always wax. It hurts like hell, but it is definitely worth it. I would do it even if it wasn't in because it helps me prevent ingrown hairs.

I've been shaved for as long as I can remember...not because it was in fashion...just because I didn't think the hair there looked "right" on me. I had a playmate recently who preferred no shaving...I tried it for a while, but finally had to break down and take it off again. It just bothers me. Whenever a stray hair gets caught in my panty elastic and rips out I want to cry. Plus, I prefer feeling myself smooth. I'm tempted to try waxing, but I'm a chicken.

my wife and I are both shaved smooth, been that way for a long time, we like going to nudist venues and over the years it has become common place...first the ladies started and then the guys followed along...

of course it is much more fun to shave each other

Mrs. Ekies and I have shaved ourselves to different degrees since the early

90's.

I much prefer the feeling of having myself shaved and like the tendency of "swinger" women to shave from the top of their ass-crack to the top of their "cootchie" crack.

I do prefer, however, a patch of short hair above the "cootchie" crack.

Mrs. Ekies prefers men shave from 1" above their penis to 1" below their testacles and at least 1" to each side. She loves going down and wants a bare play area.

If the tendency swings back to not shaving, we'll have to be in the minority.

I have a preference for me personally and that is I am completely shaved. I am considered a BBW and for me it just makes me feel cleaner. Mike shaves his balls and keeps the rest trimmed neatly, which I really like. Hate having to spit out the hairs when I am giving a bj!!

Well, I'll put it this way, I don't pay some woman $70 to rip the hair out b/c of a fashion statement. It is a personal preference.

Absolutely a personal preference, as most things are. I don't pay anyone to rip my hair either, I shave myself with a personal shaver made just for that sensitive area...!!

I would as I would hate for some one to choke on a stray hair :P

I definately do routine "manscaping" but have never paid for it. Ripping it out YIKES!!! Yet at the same time intersting. How long in between "sesions" does something like that last?

I usually have it done every 4-5 weeks, sooner if I have a playdate scheduled. But there is hardly any hair down there anymore :D!!!

I started shaving a LONG time ago -- 10 years or so? I probably did it because my ex wanted to see what it was like and frankly, I liked it a lot. After meeting Mr. Fun, he coaxed me into giving waxing a try, and now I'm hooked (they say tattoo's are addictive; I think waxing can be, too). We've met some folks who have done the laser, and I'm pretty intrigued with that. I'd love not having to worry about it anymore.

Mr. Fun stays neatly trimmed, although he's done waxing before, too. He's really wanting to be waxed again. God love 'em.

I recently met someone who hasn't shaved in awhile. Before being intimate for the first time we discussed shaving, and this is how I became aware of her not doing it in awhile. One cool thing she did was ask if I'd like her to shave before we were to get together. After thinking about this discussion, I suggested that she leave things as is, as it would be fun to see what it was like to be with someone hairy as it's been years since I've done so, and we could shave her after the first time. Well, this experience absolutely 100% confirmed that I HATE PUBIC HAIR. While the feel of the hair was kind of fun for the first few minutes, I really couldn't get into going down on her with all of the hair (and it's one of my favorite things to do). Anyway, I guess my point is that it was nice to have the choice, and the experience, but my view of shaving (and/or waxing) is even more solidified. Smooth is nice!!!

We've been shaving ourselves and each other for quite a while. We both like it when there's no hair when we do oral. I like doing her because I get the stiffest hard ons!!! I also do it more in the summer. It feels cooler and my wife is more eager to go down on me when I'm bare or close to it.

A number of years ago I shaved, thought I really made a big mistake and let it grow back but today I shave and love it and the feeling. I just cant seem to get my wife to shave although she said she would just before we go to our first swinger's club. She says it itches tomuch and I tried to tell her that if you keep it shaved you wont be bother by the itch.::P:

We have both been shaving for years. As nudists and swingers we love the smooth look. It is much more attractive, feels comfortable and is more hygienic. Also we prefer to floss our teeth as part of our morning ablutions, not when we are having oral sex.

Doesn't matter to us what the rest of the world is doing -- we'll continue to shave because we think it's erotic!

I don’t remember not being shaven but I felt I needed to be even more hairless before meeting our first couple. I had never had a professional waxing only heard about bikini and Brazilian and decided to go the full bare way. Being fully inspected, not internally, only by my doctor now I’m there for some strange woman. Those of you who go for waxing know it’s not painless. I just told her go for the full thing not just the bikini.

My husband normally trims but I talked him to fully shave everything. He agreed to do it for me.

We met our first couple and she was like me, hairless. I figure she gets waxed. He was trimmed on top, his balls smooth. I was happy I had gone for the full treatment. I even thought my husband looked great shaved.

We are now playing with friends of ours and it’s our first time with them. She has what my husband called a cute bush. Not a big bushy bush, just a trimmed soft bush. I am still new to doing anything with a woman, I just figured she would have shaved or waxed. I didn’t know what to think as I am seeing my friend and expecting to have my mouth there.

We have since gone to a nude beach and noticed plenty of untrimmed people, male and female. My husband says it could be sexy. Sexy and I just had all my hair yanked off of me. I told him all the bare men were sexy, maybe he should be waxed and I’ll let mine grow back in.

How do the ladies on this board feel about sucking a hairy men's cock and get a hair caught between your teeth? My wife hates it and would rather change the action if the man is not totally shaved.
