A friend who I have known for 42 years, knows I swing. That is all he knows. He does not know any details. No one else knows anything that I am aware of.

This topic is a little close to our lives right now. Bear and I feel we have lost 2 close friends because we swing.

I have a friend (A) who was in a triad, she was living with a couple and they were open to us as to what was going on. Well, she has since broken up with the couple and moved out on her own.

Bear's best friend (S) has known we swing since we started. Both "S" and "A" were at our house one night and they hooked up. Now they are living together. We are very happy for them. But it seems that "S" and "A" don't want to be around us because we are in the lifestyle. I guess it does not matter that "A" was in the lifestyle long before we started. I guess "S" does not trust us to be around "A" just because she and Bear have played. He does not understand the lifestyle at all. We thought she would explain things to him, but they are still keeping their distance.

On a plus side. My step-mom knows about us being in the lifestyle. She made a point to tell Bear and I that we seemed closer and our marriage seems stronger then in the past, and that is all she cares about. She has even asked questions about how the lifestyle works! We do have some funny talks.

I wonder how "A" will handle "S's" jealousy, insecurity and lack of trust when the relationship isn't so new anymore. When you're newly in love, jealousy can seem like such an endearing quality.

"Look how much he loves me... he wants me nowhere near other men...". :rollseyes

I find it odd that a former lifestyler would allow herself to be involved in such a relationship. I find it even more odd that a "best friend" would have so little trust in Bear.

I wouldn't mourn for friends like that.

Sorry you guys had to go through this.

Very few of our vanilla friends know that we swing. A quite a few of our vanilla friends suspect we swing.

We're not as open about our lifestyle as we'd like to be. Due to work-related needs for discretion, we choose not to play with people within our local area. My workplace (the local University) would likely be much more receptive to the idea, and my role there is in a secretarial capacity part-time, so I'm not nearly as concerned for my being "outed", but Mr. works in a supervisory role for a large company and it would be very awkward should any of his employees find out about our "hobby" and somehow use it against him. The management there is pretty conservative, and office politics can get so petty. Paranoid? Maybe. But we'd rather just avoid the worry.

I have one friend that knows, and her husband, and they're both curious about the lifestyle, but still not quite grasping the elementary concepts. Mr. has told his childhood best friend about it (he thinks we're sick, but wants to know more...go figure) and also my brother-in-law (J) whom he's good friends with. J thought it was awesome and wished he could talk my sister into trying it. Mr. warned him not to go humping at her leg about it, but instead just bring it up subtly and have her come to me with any questions about it. Well of course the next time we were all together for dinner, my sister made some dry comment about how "[Mrs. intuition]'s idea of fun isn't the same as MY idea of fun." Chirp-chirp-chirp. Wow. Talk about your awkward moments. J just got a look from Mr. that more or less said, "You idiot." Other than them, my entire family is in the dark. Although I'm sure they've seen changes in me in the past few years.

Other than these friends, the only other person we've told is my mother-in-law and that's because she has an apartment in our house. We wanted to explain that sometimes we have friends who come over, and it would be BEST for all concerned if she avoided coming upstairs for a visit during those times. At first when we explained what we meant by that, she truly thought we were kidding. After she realized we weren't, she was stunned. "Why don't you just both have affairs??!" was her response. I don't know who she's told about it, but I'm sure she has spilled the beans at least once or twice (but only to totally reliable confidants, right? ) because it's just too juicy to keep secret. Whatever. We don't care as long as it's not going to lose us our jobs or traumatize our kids.

We even asked them that question. How is he going to feel if say they are out to dinner and she sees a really good looking guy and makes some off hand coment about him, like any woman would. Is "S" going to turn green with jealousy and let it tear him apart. His mind will always jump to her past and the lifestyle. He has never understood the lifestyle. Even got nasty with me about what we do in the lifestyle.

I guess only time will tell if things work out for them.

I have one vanilla friend that knows, and I told her by accident. She is probably our most open minded friend, but I still have some pangs of embarrassment when I assume that when I speak about friends to her, she assumes they are friends.

I will say that I would honestly not have an issue with telling people we know with the exception of our parents. I doubt my M-I-L would care, but my parents would freak, and I can just hear my dad at vanilla get-togethers at our house, asking all our friends if the are really friends.

Tom Clancy had a rule in one of his earlier books that has always been true for me in my professional life - "The number of people who know about a secret is the cube of the number of people authorized to know the secret."

Call me paranoid, but it seems best to keep the number as low as possible.

Hello everybody,

for those active swingers, may i ask who knows about your swinger activities?

We can not really be considered active since we are new but I'll respond anyway.

I didn't think we would tell anyone but it kinda came out last weekend. We were at a lesbian bar watching a drag show with 4 gay men, (friends of ours) and we were talking about what we did last weekend. I just said we went to a club. One of them said, "Oh, the one in Fort Wayne?" He knew without us having to say anything. Now everytime his partner sees me he points and say, "Swinger!" And I say back, "Card carrying!" (since we are now card carrying members of a club) It's something of a joke now. No one else knows. Its fun having a dirty little secret that few people know. ;)

A few close friends DEFINATELY know, either by us telling them or better yet, showing them :hahaha: .

So that is what we voted.

Although nearly everyone we know strongly suspects, they have never asked and we haven't told.

My stepmother knows about it, and she is cool with it. My best friend knows, and is cool with it. But Bear's best friend knows and is being a pain in the ass about it. Wish he never found out about our lifestyle. I could do without the judgements from him.

Exactly why we choose not to tell most of our friends/family.

Although we wouldn't describe them as "close friends," a few people from Greg's workplace are aware of our swinging activities. He works for an adult business, so our status as swingers is no big deal to them. We have very few real friends in the vanilla world, and none of them know.

My two best friends know, one because she is in the lifestyle herself and introduced me to it. My family thinks I've had a social-life transplant, courtesy of an online dating service... they're half right!

We are new to this so nobody knows, but our situation is a little weird. We (my fiance and I) have "hooked up" with his twin and his twins girlfriend. Our friends wouldn't care that we are swinging but I think they would be shocked by the 4 of us being together. Plus we just started so we want to wait and see what comes of this. We will tell them if we want to later, but for now...

Mrs Spoo's mom knows... Blame the drinking at the Christmas get together on that one. She thinks it's great though and always buys her new club wear... Go figure.

Her best friend knows, too.

I have no one I can tell...

Oh - my sister knows, but she does internet porn, so she'll never tell... :D

My mother knows something about our lifestyle. Not the details but enough to figure out that we have an interesting sex life. His entire family knows due to an inadvertant email that was sent to everyone. It has not been mentioned by anyone since then but they all know.

A few of our friends know some detail or another. Not many know the whole story. Others have gossiped a bit and I'm sure they have a contorted version of the truth. K and I have stopped caring what our vanilla friends know and when approached we are quite truthful.

And the odd lucky acquaintance has been seduced ;)

Let's see. My ex-wife knows. My ex-sister-in-law knows - who showed great interest in it and now has a steady girlfriend that joins her and her husband. A friend/coworker and his girlfriend know. Our single guy neighbor knows. And that is about it.

I keep expecting my dad to find out, but it wouldn't matter if he did. My stepbrother and his wife brought their third to Thanksgiving dinner a couple of years back.

When we told them, I looked at him and I could immediately read his mind.

- - "Dammit, I married the wrong sister!" :hahaha:

They're cool with it though.

Oh, and the folks that were on the Carnival Inspiration back in Oct '06 with us and about 500 other swingers. I think they figured out what we were there for.

There is no one on my side that knows about us in the LS. We have friends of MrVan's (now my friends also) that know or think they know but won't say...Those that know joke with us pretty often about the LS.

My family does not know and because we are all so distant they may never know..

We have one good friend that knows about our swinging and we do tell him when we head out to an event or party (and often invite him to join us). He is discreet and since he knows most of our vanilla friends he can pretty well assume that if he meets a new friend of ours that chances are they swing.

Also, my best friend from High School knows as well, but he lives on the other side of the country...

Michael and I continue to see a therapist both together and separately. Over the years we have both become more open to telling her what experiences and feelings we have with others and the reasons we enjoy others. I will never know what he tells her in his private sessions though I am very open in our joint meetings.

We have told her that we post some of our experiences on a swingers site, it’s more me posting, Michael doesn’t post anymore. She asked if I embellish my posts because many post on sites about fantasies more than realities. I think I post real feelings as best as I can but I know what she means that posting has an excitement factor like reliving an event. Others will post something they wished they did almost as if they did it.
Michael and I were very hesitant to open up to our therapist our alternative lifestyle thoughts when we first met her. I opened up first in my private meetings and then only in a broad way with no specific acts. I didn’t think she would understand what we were doing or how she would judge me. Therapy was to take away my odd feelings which ended up adding to my thinking my actions were odd. Once getting over my fears of opening up my deep thoughts it has freed up anxiety of enjoying.

I think I have a healthier outlook now that I have freed myself of worrying what others think and what a therapist thinks. Our joint sessions are now very freeing allowing me to express my feelings to Michael and understanding his feelings.

How open are others? Do others discuss true feelings to a partner? Are you honest to a therapist?

My husband and I just established with a new doctor. I really like her, she seems very nice and easy to talk to. This is a good thing right?

I am going back in next week for a well woman check. It's just my yearly and I am having no problems. I do want her to check me for everything (again not having problems but would like to have that peace of mind) though but I am not really sure how to ask. My plan is to just say "Since we are already doing a Pap can you just check me for everything else too". My fear is that she will ask questions why since she knows I am married.

What should I say if she asks me why? Any ideas? I'd rather not say I think hubby is cheating but I ALSO don't want to tell her I'm a swinger either!

      HELP!

So I've came across this on TIKTOK, and thought I'd ask in a broader way. Do you have a contingency plan for your adult toys (and I'm adding pictures, correspondences, and other documentary evidence) if you happen to pass away? What will happen to that kind of stuff when you go? Have you even thought about it, or would it even matter to you?

      (to the Brady Bunch theme)
      Here's the story,
      Of a fun loving couple,
Who really like the idea of a sex swing,
But they know a stand would be more effort than they want...

OK, I can't keep this going, ditch the theme music...

But, anyways, yes, the wife and I have looked at, and wanted, a sex swing for some time now. Problem being, we have a smaller house, no basement, and ceiling fans in every room. If we could figure out some way to put a bracket up to support a sex swing, we'd likely go ahead and get one, but where to put it, and how to "disguise" the bracket? Sometimes, when we take a vacation, and go away somewhere, her Mom house-sits for us, so either having a bracket that can be "disguised" as something else, or completely hidden, would be great.

One thought I've had, would be to mount a board (2x4 or 4x4) across two joists, for the eye-bolt to attach to, and cut a square of ceiling drywall out, with some way to put the square back in place to cover the hole when not using the swing.

While the idea of getting the stand is not a bad one, again, with the size of our house, the only room we could set this up in, would be the living room. If you've got one, with stand, how much work is it to set up and tear down, and how compact does the stand get? Could we stash the stand under the bed (collapsed, of course)?

      Thanks,
      Jason

While this is news, it is not particularly positive news.

Re:  Jerry Falwell, Jr and his family, for example here:

      https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/usa-falwell-relationship/

Here are the first two paragraphs of the report:

WASHINGTON – In a claim likely to intensify the controversy surrounding one of the most influential figures in the American Christian conservative movement, a business partner of Jerry Falwell Jr has come forward to say he had a years-long sexual relationship involving Falwell’s wife and the evangelical leader.

Giancarlo Granda says he was 20 when he met Jerry and Becki Falwell while working as a pool attendant at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel in March 2012. Starting that month and continuing into 2018, Granda told Reuters that the relationship involved him having sex with Becki Falwell while Jerry Falwell looked on.

Ignoring the political aspects of the timing of all of this, there are some takeaways.

      1. Political leanings are irrelevant to biological drives, sexual fantasies, and the behaviors that follow.

      2. The problems arise from the evident hypocrisies: preaching 'family values' (however defined) while practicing something beyond a standard of marital monogamous heterosexuality.

      3. Institutions and groups that perpetuate such hypocrisies typically respond the same way, namely by denouncement and expulsion of the person(s) who have been "found out" and restatement of the institutional/group value.

      4. There is a business dispute including accusations of extortion folded into all of this.

It is absurd to imagine that leaders are somehow immune from fantasies and the intentions to act on those fantasies. What would be more helpful are commonsense boundaries between public and private lives as well as reasonable display of integrity. Even then, humans find ways to accommodate 'sinful behaviors' while embracing integrity:

Rick: How can you close me up? On what grounds?

Captain Renault: I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!

[a croupier hands Renault a pile of money]
      Croupier: Your winnings, sir.

Captain Renault: [sotto voce] Oh, thank you very much.

      [aloud]
Captain Renault: Everybody out at once!

Neither the evangelical community nor Mr. Falwell's employers should be "shocked, shocked" to find that (even) their annppointed spokesperson enjoyed variety in sexual expression, apparently with the knowledge and consent and participation of his wife of 34 years. Adopting the usual denouncement-and-expulsion-upon-being-found-out strategy ("Do as we say, not what he did!--He was weak and you must be strong!")  merely reinforces the idealized pretense of purity. The reality is that tensions between sexual suppression and sexual expression are as old as civilization. While individuals and institutions can impose rules on themselves and set expectations for others, a bit of realism would be welcome: the aforementioned tensions cannot be "wished away".  At the same time, business dealings with playmates might be predicted to end badly, as appears to have happened in this case.

      The Reuters article concludes:

In a statement released Friday, before news of the relationship with Granda became public, Liberty University said its “decision whether or not to retain Falwell as president has not yet been made.” Its board of trustees, the statement read, “requested prayer and patience as they seek the Lord’s will and also seek additional information for assessment.”
