Chat sites?

Recommended Posts

Let us start off with we find this site amazing, the information we have gotten here has been very helpful.

We sense the people here are compared to other sites.

Occasionally we both will visit chatropolis.com to kill some time and chat.

We realize at a site like that you really have no idea who you are chatting with. It's amazing how many "bi wmf 35" seem to chat there. lol

What sites do you (if you do at all) stop by to chat?

Hello marla&brian,

Welcome to the swingersboard, and, if you are new to swinging, welcome.

I think that you will find most of the behaviour here on this board as being fairly goal-directed.

This does not mean that folks are not chatters here, just that this vehicle is not really particularly a great one for "chatting" as such.

What we have observed in the LifeStyle, is that folks who are successful in it (however you wish to define that, but we will do so

by those that are accomplishing their goals) tend to exhibit more goal directed behaviour; they do things for a reason.

As you will find in this hobby, there are lots of sub types of folks in it; chatting can help you identify if the people you are chatting with are your peeps.

Don't be surprised though, as njbm stated above, that you will find many folks in the LS to be rather "judicious" in their chatting habits.

Good luck to you both in the LS, welcome to our little family here, and feel free to ask any questions and contribute your experience

and point of view along the way.

We are not much for chatting!  Found most of the people in the past that wanted to chat lots never amounted to anything, but chatting.  When it comes to chatting in the lifestyle we keep it to a minimum until pics are exchanged and if interest is there the first meeting.  Absolutely zero interest in sexting or flirting on line.  Does nothing for us.  We are live action people.  I spend most of my time online in hobby related sites.

Welcome to the Swingers Board!  We're not much into chatting now either.  Back when we first got started we would do it more, usually on Yahoo back then.  It was sometimes fun, but overall we decided we preferred to just use chat, text, or whatever to set up the first meet in person and then go from there since we quickly learned there is no substitute for meeting in person to get a feel for people.

Our frustration is in finding other couples to play with. We are on several websites and are finding that couples who initially seem interested in getting together will talk and put us off and we end up not getting together at all.

Is there another way to meet other couples that would be interested in actually getting together?

Julie, stop me if this question has come up before, but I couldn't find it through Search.

This question was inspired by another thread. I'm not asking about the initial contact, but after the first contact is made. Which way do you think is most effective at getting to know others before you meet face-to-face?

It comes down to 3 methods:

      Chat
      Email
      Telephone

For me Chat is nervewracking. Even though I can type 50+ wpm, it moves too fast (when you're typing) and too slow (when the other person is typing). Yet, it's in real time which makes for a more natural and conversational exchange. And chatting creates a more uninhibited exchange than you'd likely have over the phone.

Telephone: With nationwide plans for cellphones, this is becoming a less-expensive option, though it's still costly. Yet, there's something about hearing a person's voice that tells you alot about them.

Email: my preferred method. It's like old fashioned letters only digitized. It's not conversation, but it gives you time to think, to ask and answer questions more creatively (though increasing the BS factor at the same time).

So, what'll be: Chat, Email or Phone?

We have been on SLS for a little over a month now. Being that we are new we are still receiving numerous emails a week. However, it seems that 90% of the people want us to chat on Yahoo. We clearly state on our profile that we do not Yahoo due to privacy concerns. I guess we don't understand why you pay for a site that is tailored to fit what you need to read about other couples only to constantly be redirected to a second party chat program.

It is unfortunate because we are most likely missing out on some pretty interesting couples. We actually turned away a 27 year old single bi female (i know we are crazy) because she said she likes to yahoo with couples to see if their is a connection before she meets them.

I guess my question is, how important is Yahoo? Those of you who have had SLS profiles for awhile, please tell us, do we need to change our position on this?
