We are planning a trip for Sept. But we are trying to decide which one to go to. We've heard some good thing about all three. We went to Temptations in Cabo last year, but the one we are thinking about going to this time is in Cancun. Any info or advise would be greatly appreciated. We are not worried about going to Mexico. We were just down there in April and had no problem.

Thanks ahead of time

It depends on exactly what are you looking for in a clothing optional vacation. We have been to Desire four times but not the other resorts you mentioned. Desire is couples only where are Temptations isn't. There was a post that described Hedo as a great frat party and Desire as a very laid back upscale party.

We have only been to Desire once many years back. It was O.K. but we stick to HEDO II now.

Like it was said earlier, it depends on what you want

We have been to all three.

Temptations seems to draw a younger crowd, 20's and 30's. Its topless only with a lot of singles. It had a spring break atmosphere when we were there (August). No open sex allowed. (we went only once)

Hedo II has, like someone said above, a frat party atmosphere day and night. Most guests seem to be in there 40's and 50's. The resort has a nude side and a prude side. You must be nude on the nude side. Open sex is common on the nude side. Singles are welcome. (7 trips to Hedo II at various times of the year)

Desire is couples only and clothing optional. Age range was 30's to 50's while we were there last week. Sex is permitted in and around the hot tub and in the playroom. (the hot tub is surrounded by beds) Discreet sex happens in other locations. Desire is much more laid back during the day than Temptations and Hedo II. (9 trips to Desire, mostly in July)

We prefer Desire because its couples only; the service is top notch; and it draws more of a serious lifestyle crowd.

I guess what we are looking for is which one is the most Lifestyle friendly. We are not going to have sex all day. We manly want to relax meet some new people and have some fun. But at the end of the day we would like to find some couples to play with. Some friends just got back from Hedo they have been 4 times. This year was the worst due to some facility problem. (No hot water in the room for 2 days). And the AC didn't work all that well. Sounds like desire might be the best fit. Our friends did tell us it's more fun to go to Hedo with a group. We have found a group to hook up with but we are still unsure where to go. thanks for all the advise so far.

Based on that comment we would recommend Desire.

We went on a group trip to Hedo two years ago. We left a couple of days earlier than most of the group due to other plans. The day after we left several members of the group, and others got sick due to sanitary problems in the hot tub...pumps were not working properly and the hot tub had to be closed. Mrs. Rex said she wouldn't go back because of the condition of the property.

From a lifestyle standpoint, we understand the Hedo weeks in January are the best time to go. Some friends of ours who go in January said they had 6 encounters in four days, including a quicky on the bus going back to the airport! When we were there in the summer, people seemed more interested in smoking than in sex.

We been to Desire a number of times (all seasons) and had great lifestyle adventures. We think it is a much better choice than Hedo, and it is always easy to meet like minded couples there. Sex in the hot tub, the adjacent beds and in the play room makes for a great party!

First off thanks for all the input. We have posted this on 2 other boards on top of this one. We've got the same basic response on all three. We will probably be going to Desire, but have not made up our minds fully yet. Again thanks for all the input.

I'll second the thanks for this thread. We are considering a trip to some resort, probably Hedo II or desire, but hadn't chosen which or when yet.

For us one of the struggles is that a couple we are friends with is going to Hedo II, and while it's tempting to line up a trip with them, we know we wont be spending the entire trip with them and would like to find a spot that fits our interests for the rest of the time too.

In the asking around we have done, Hedo II is mentioned as a great place when you go with a known group, but not as good as desire if you don't have a group you are interested in. Desire is usually suggested due to our age group (30's) and people rate the facilities better there.

We have found a group that is going down the same time we are and even joined their forum. They seem like a nice group of folks. That is making it even harder to decide. We are leaning more toward Desire with Hedo running a close second. Temptations is still in the running because of the cost. I'm with the airlines and we use an travel agency that gets discounts for airline employees. Temptation gives a DEEP discount. Get an OK one on Hedo and hardly any on Desire LOL.

Still though the pics of Desire look awesome.

I heard pluses and minuses on Hedo and Temptations, but I don't think I've heard anything negative about Desires.

We have been to Hedo & Desire. In our opinion, Desire does have nicer rooms though the lower category rooms might be a bit smaller than Hedo. All Hedo rooms are the same size no matter where it is located or what category room. The food at Desire is a little better than Hedo in the buffet category as there is more of a variety throughout the course of a week. Hedo though, wins hands down for the atmosphere and the people. We found the people at Desire to be a little standoffish. There was no interaction with people on the beach or in the pool. Te only place that happened was in the rooftop hot tub. At Hedo, we can walk up to 2, 4, 6 or more people anywhere and start talking and instantly have new friends.

Hope I'm not breaking any rules of this board, but a good place to go to get some good and bad reviews is DennyP Travel: Information Central for travel to Jamaica & the Caribbean including Hedonism II & III, Breezes, Temptation, Desire Cancun and other resorts. I have met many of the people that post there and they are mostly honest.

Denny is a travel agent, but this is a no-spam board.

Can't comment on Hedo, but I know Temptation and Desire well.

Temptation Cancun is a ton of fun, but it isn't what you would call a lifestyle resort. For sure there are always plenty of lifestyle couples, the resort is lifestyle friendly and you'll almost certainly find what you are looking for but there are also plenty of non lifestylers, some of whom are scared to death of 'swingers'. The emphasis at Temptation is on fun with a sexy vibe rather than out and out sex - lots of alcohol, lots of laughs and did I say fun. Full nudity isnt permitted at Temptation although it will happen in some of the organized games. Topless is fine as are micro bikinis etc. Compared to Temptation Cabo, the resort in Cancun has a much sexier vibe.

Temptation has a huge and loyal following, and actually has the highest repeat occupancy rate of any hotel in Cancun. It's the only hotel in Cancun that is so popular with repeaters that it can sustain its own dedicated forum with recent trip reports and to meet other couples staying the same time as you.

Temptation Cancun Forum

For Desire Cancun, the first thing you need to know is prices are double that of Temptation around $400 per night as opposed to $200. If price is not an issue then you will find a lot more lifestyle couples there usually. It's a clothing optional resort but this can mean it is popular with nudists (who aren't necessarily in the lifestyle) so it can be hit or miss. There are many lifestyle club takeover weeks, these can often sell out fast so maybe hard to co-ordinate your dates and of course if you're not part of the takeover group you might feel a little out of it.

Overall, I would say try Temptation :) You'll find the fun, sex if you want it and it's not in an isolated part of Cancun so you can enjoy some time out of the resort enjoying the nightlife which you cant do at Desire since it's in the middle of nowhere.

If you need any more info about either Temptation or Desire please feel free to PM me, I live in Cancun :)

Desire, unlike Hedo or Temptations, actually bills itself as a Lifestyle Friendly Resort.

Regarding Temptations Cancun: We've been there a couple of times, once with vanilla friends back when it was called Blue Bay Getaway...same atmosphere each time...and lots of singles. While I think it is possible to find swingers there, other than possibly single guys if you are an MFM couple, it will likely take much more work with a far less certain outcome. For a lot of guests the pseudo-sexy atmosphere and the games are about as much sexual excitement as they are willing to handle. If approached about actually swinging, some there might be very offended...a good reason not to go there if you are serious about having a swinging vacation. We wouldn't even know where to start to find play dates at Temptations...you might waste days trying to find an interested couple.

By contrast, Desire, as noted above, is very lifestyle friendly. The atmosphere attracts people who enjoy nudity and sex. This is pretty clear when people around you are hooking up and having sex in the hot tub, on the beds, in the play area. Most people there are either swingers, or curious at some level. Couples who are not swingers, but look like they are enjoying Desire, are not likely to be offended if approached about swinging. Finding play dates at Desire has always been easy, and as numerous as we could handle.

I was wondering if anyone on here has been to Spice in Lanzarote? My partner and I are considering going next year as we cant really afford Mexico or Jamaica. There seem to be some very good reviews for it online but just wondering if any of the members here have any personal experience of going there.

We are planning a trip to Mexico, and would like to stay at Desire. There looks to be 3 properties, are they adjacent, do they each attract different types of people? Any clarity to this would be great.

They are not adjacent. Desire Riviera Maya is the original, Desire Pearl is a few miles away (it's was called hidden beach and just became desire this spring). Desire Los Cabos is on the West coast of Mexico. My understanding is that Pearl has nicer rooms and higher prices. It is still working on getting the sexy vibe that the original has.

Trip advisor is great for reviews too.

After much research we decided to go to Desire Riviera Maya with the Life on the Swingset podcast group in Nov.

My suggestion is to look for a group that is going. We went to Swingers Break (Hedo) back in May and it was a blast. The hotel was over booked and there was always something going on. We haven't been to the others but heard they can be pretty sleepy if you catch them out of season or between group bookings. We made the mistake of going to a resort off season and while we had an awesome time, we learned we will never book a trip again that doesn't have a large group already attending.

Mr. Sweet and I went to Temptations Cancun last March, and had a blast! It was kind of a Spring Break-y crowd, but it didn't bother us, as we weren't really looking to play. We are going again this November with some swinger friends, so I anticipate a much different experience.

One of these days, we'll try and check out Hedo or one of the other more swinger-friendly resorts.

Just thought I would put in my 2 cents worth. We eventually decided to goto Desire RM (Pearl wasn't open then) our first visit in Sept 2011. It was great very laid back and relaxing. We didn't play with anyone however. We had some close friends that had been to Hedo and talk about how run down it was, and that helped us to decided. Over the past year we have become very good friends with the cpl that had been to Hedo and we all went to Desire RM together this past June 2012. It was wonderful even better than before because we had someone to hang out with and play with, because we have basically become exclusive with them. We went to visit Pearl it is very nice but it usually is only about half full right now because people don't know about it. It is more expensive but the rooms are much nicer. We were talking the other day and I think the 4 of us are going to try Hedo next summer. They go down with a big group and said we should go with them. So we will see. Our 25th wedding anniversary is coming up in Sept. and we are thinking about going back to desire again LOL. That will be 3 times in one year. One last thing the crowd can turn it into a completely different kind of place.

We just got back from a Mediterranean swinger's cruise. Great fun! We met a couple that had just been to Spice in Lanzarote and they loved it. They are going back in December. They got an 11 for 7 deal...11 days for the price of 7. They said the property is small, but twice the size of Sea Mountain. They said the food is very good, and there were lots of people to party with. That said, it looks like you normally have to fly through Madrid to get there, so what you save in rates you make up in plane fare.

Correction to earlier comment on Desire Pearl: Hidden Beach resort is still where it always was. Desire Pearl is the old Ceiba Del Mar resort, which was a high-end resort (not that Hidden Beach isn't).

Thanks for the input. we talked about going here this winter but got mixed reviews on all three of these resorts. The price is rather inexpensive so we were hoping it wasn't a dump. Of course it looks great online, lol.

Heard Hedo II closed down?

Hedo II has not closed down .... Hedo III closed over a year ago (maybe longer).

There are a lot of rumors flying around regarding HII (e.g. sale, closing either it or Breezes Negril to refurbish one or the other resort, etc) but nothing has been made official/public yet.

I’ve thought about going to this nudist resort near Sacramento, Does anybody have any experience there?
    • By decpl2021
We just returned from our stay at Hedonism 2 in Jamaica and the worst part of it was having to leave. I wanted to thank everyone here and those that left reviews elsewhere for your recommendation. We were NOT disappointed. While many people are in different stages of the lifestyle with different interests, I wanted to provide my feedback to help them decide or provide some insight for those just getting started in the lifestyle.

The facility was laid out very well, while they have a nude side and a prude side, either side is perfectly fine to choose and it is a very short walk should you choose to explore. The so called prude side, housing and beach, is the perfect place to spend the morning recovering from the night before or simply hang out in a quiet place for peaceful morning, relaxation and enjoy a more private intimate moment with your spouse or simply open a book to read. Clothing is optional, so do expect to see both nude, partially nude and fully clothed people.

The Nude side, is the perfect place for party time, anything goes to the wildest and most open forms in sexual interaction. The best way to describe the beach is 0 to 10. You can choose to be totally isolated at the very end of the beach where it starts on the border to the next resort and can walk down to the other end  which ends up being a non stop 24/7 party! You can basically walk along (a short easy walk) and choose to stay wherever you like. While being nude is required for this side, you can still expect to see some people with some sort of covering, sheer/lace, hat even a sarong.

      Logistics:
The Food is delicious, all kinds of food available for just about every taste, the staff is also familiar to help you with any food allergies and sensitivities. Don't hesitate to ask should you have some concerns regarding the ingredients, the staff is very friendly and happy to get any questions answered. On one occasion, (Asian Food Night) the chef came out personally went over which dishes contained gluten and pointed out what was safe. I stopped him half way through because there was more than enough to eat. Plates, Silverware, Napkins were all very clean, staff visited the table often to top off drinks and take away any plates.

The Bars were fully stocked, the drinks were properly mixed and no sense of being watered down or weak like we saw at other resorts. If you want an extra strong drink, they were happy to oblige but the standard drink was as you would expect.
While they didn't have bottled water, you are given a reusable container with plenty of fill stations. The refill stations throughout the resort are triple filtered with UV to provide safe clean drinking water. The water was clean, odorless and tasted as you would expect from bottled water.

The pools were clean and open to everyone, most of which are clothing optional with the exception of the one group of pools at the end of the nude side which was nude only. While there are several small pools through the resort, it was no trouble to find one that you can enjoy alone time with your mate. Same would go for hot tubs, plenty to choose from, private and open both nude and clothing optional.
The nude side has a row of pools, semi warm one with a swim up bar, snack bar, wading pool (warm), waterfall that is a fence for a more private cave, large open hot pool, large cold pool and a smaller hot tub which is very warm. All of which are connected and easy to jump from pool to pool.

      Nude Side:
      - Do expect 99% to be Nude
      - Do expect to view open sexual activity, everywhere, on the beach, on the deck, around the pool, in the pool, on the floating dock, in the water, on the sand...... everywhere but inside the restaurants.

      Maintenance:
While some did frown upon one pool or one room being closed as a given time, this is a good thing to be honest. The resort is basically a 24/7 establishment, there has to be a time where they perform maintenance and not every single room can be open 100% of the time. The resort is working hard to keep the property updated and clean, the closing of some rooms and pools should be expected. Nobody wants to go to a 'run down' resort. They are very conscious to maximize up time. For example, when we arrived the "Kamasutra Palace" was closed, we were a little upset at the moment but we saw that it was being repainted, new lighting fixtures being installed, floors being refinished and the whole building inside and outside being pressure washed. The next day, we went to find the other play room, just to find it closed but a sign hanging stating that the Kamasutra Palace was reopened and taking the place of the second play room. The same maintenance was going on there at the time. So there was always a play room open and while closing of any room sucks, it is nice to know they are keeping the buildings maintained and clean.

We saw two pools closed during our stay which was no big deal as there were still many to choose from. I was surprised that they drained one pool, scrubbed, painted, made repairs and was refilled and back in operation within 48 hours. I've seen pools closed for weeks at hotels to make these types of repairs. I saw their crew out there in the dark working until it was reopened.

Rooms: While the rooms were nice they were a little 'dated', wondering if they would be renovated anytime soon..... We then noticed 4 rooms with work crews gutting them for renovation, so do expect to see a new look on the other rooms the future
Our room had one small issue, a drip of condensation from the A/C Unit, before we can even make a report, the maid noticed it and automatically contacted the A/C Repair Folks, they were in there during the daily cleaning and had it fixed in about 20 minutes.

Beaches: The beaches were cleaned daily of leaves and debris but no real trash was ever noticed. The beaches and water were very clean, plenty of towels stocked, plenty of seating and hammocks to relax in. Some of the rooms also had private hot tubs on the deck facing the beach, a few in which we visited, all of which were cleaned and treated daily, good condition and proper working order.

Security: The beach is patrolled with several safety/security officers. None of which were a bother, they would greet you with a smile. I didn't see any of them up close to 'personal activity' but kept their distance. They were very professional and just let people do what they wanted for the most part. If there was some activity that kicked off, I noticed an officer excuse himself from that area and simply moved a little further away to provide privacy. The officers would routinely look in another direction and not take the scenes as a movie for them to watch. The staff was the same way, basically walk by and ignore the activity, no judging, no finger pointing, very very professional.
We did have one interaction, while we met some new friends, one of them required an 'assisted' walk back to her room due to a little intoxication, as she was staying in the room next to us, we offered to walk her back, not due to a security concern but more of a trip and fall consideration. We were approached by security and was kindly asked what was "going on here" we explained and all was well, they did keep an eye to ensure there wasn't something else taking place but allowed us to go on our own and kept a good distance.

      Guests:
The best part of the trip were the people there. We have never met such a great group of people in our entire life. The people were non judging, open, very easy to talk to, happy to converse with anyone. The demographics of the group was better than expected. If you're worried about a certain age group or nationality, let it be known that it is a very diverse group of people. We've met people of all age groups, even a few in their 70's, all sizes, shapes, colors, classes, singles, couples. There is simply something or someone for everyone, no matter your level of participation in the lifestyle, you will not be disappointed. The people were very respectful.

I highly recommend this resort to anyone, even if you're not currently practicing in the lifestyle, it is an experience that you will not forget.
If anyone has any questions, I will do my best to answer.
