I had to choose other becase one just wasn't enough to fit. I've been the Cowboy, Gladiator, Athlete (although it doesn't look like it right now) and the boy next door all rolled into one.

Well, I think I am a bit of a mix between the Teddy Bear and the Metrosexual... but I voted Metro ;)

We will see if Trixie thinks any different...

Speed.

I'd add a touch of "boy next door" too :)

I voted "Intellectual" for Mr. Fuse.

The Metrosexual category is a little bit strange, I thought. It lists "sensitive and attentive" as qualities, and Mr. Fuse definitely fits those. But he does not fit the more widely used definition of Metrosexual, which is a guy who considers primping and dressing to a T very important, sort of like a stereotypical woman. I think of a Metrosexual as a guy who uses several more hair and skin products than the average guy and considers it part of his regimen. Mr. Fuse has more of a "regular guy" regimen -- he shaves, using the cheapest shaving cream possible, showers with soap, and washes and combs his hair.

In the past when his hair was a little longer, he did have a tendency to use more hairspray than I did. That was because he was anal about controlling flyaways and keeping it out of his face. I used to call him "Pretty Boy" when he did that, which he hated.:hahaha: Other than that, no one could accuse him of any metrosexual tendencies.

I am somewhere between the all=american boy next door and the artist with a twist of intellectual thrown in. I am very relexed and comfortable around most people and love to explore all aspects of life including movies, current events, different cultures/beliefs, and of course sex.

I voted boy next door, But I call myself a Florida boy (cause I bleed sand) I have a little redneck in me at times but I do keep myself clean, try to wear flipflops as much as I can and love all forms of motorsports with dragracing as #1

Geeeeez, this was hard. He fits in no specific category. Multiple personality , I suppose. Loves the outdoors but not into sports persay, hiking backpacking are his favorite. He loves his Harley but is not the typical tatoos and gruffness associated with that. He is very intelligent and well read, but not the school teacher type. He is kind and sweet at times, strong and dominant at times. You get my drift. He is definintley one of a kind. Verdie

I am an odd mix....

Since I drive a truck I can be quite gruff. Also due to my ethnic heritage I have a tendency to make women(especially white women, don't ask me why..)uncomfortable. For some reason a large, tall, Native American male standing behind them in line makes women nervous, doubly so if they are parked near me. I'm always on my best behavior, because I don't like the flavor of pepper spray. I wish that was a joke, but damn, some of you need to chill out.

However, I also listen to jazz and classical, as well as other diverse kinds of music. Pink Floyd, Pat Metheny, and Sade are my favorites. I devour books like candy, and love film, too. I play guitar, but also shoot guns. I don't like horses, even though my ancestors were some of the world's best horsemen 100 years ago. I love motorcycles, but don't care for the 'biker image'.

A mutt? Probably...

While I've been compared to James Bond due to wanting to screw many different women (is that not the definition of a swinger ?) and I do carry a Walther, however I had to choose "The Intellectual" since have an innate desire to learn as much as I can about certain subjects. I've always had a love of reading and will choose relaxing with a good book (old fashioned words on paper, not pixelated text thank you very much) over watching a movie or some event. To me, there's no upper limit to human knowledge and figuring out why things are the way they are, which is the essence of science. Technically I could also choose "other" since there are those that have accused me of at times of being the comedian as I do like to find the humor in a lot of situations and being able to make others laugh with my blunt, dry humor.

The problem with this poll is there is a vast difference between what type of guy I think I am and what type of guy my wife says I am!

This wasn't as hard for me as some. I definitely fall into both the intellectual and gladiator categories. But the effect of hormones and such... when the dick is hard, the brain shuts up. So, for the purpose of THIS survey and in the context of THIS website, it's like 90% gladiator.

Choose Other.  I do not fit in one category or two.  Not complex just made of many things, artist, biker, teddy bear, a thinker...thought provoking yet not so much an intellectual.  Humorist, lover of women .....not just to women.....their personalities and what makes them different, not just physically.     Lover of life and adventure.  Kind of fits.

I voted "other". I was the average blue collar, work 48 hours a week, raised 3 kids while being a divorced dad. Raised my kids, all moved out and just retired. But i think their should be a choice for the average blue collar divorced dad!

This post is going to use a lot of labels and stereotypes in the quest gathering information so please turn off the PC filter and share your thoughts openly and maybe we can all seek some useful knowledge together.

A couple days ago I referred to someone as a nerd and I passed it off as ok for me to say that since I am a nerd too. Always have been always will be ( I most closely resemble Gilbert from the original 'Revenge of the Nerds' movie).

Anyway, I got to thinking and it dawned on me that a lot of the people I have encountered in the lifestyle could also be classified as nerds.

Before we got into the lifestyle I had a preconceived notion that the swinger community would be made up primarily of the jock/stud category of men and the cheerleader/beauty queen category of women. What I have witnessed in real life is far from that.

Most of the men I have seen have not been smooth talking ladies men at all and have not been players at all or even necessarily that socially comfortable or outgoing. I have come across a few single males that are totally players and probably score a lot in the vanilla world as well as the lifestyle but they have been the exception. Many of the male halves of couples I have seen have been quite passive if not downright socially awkward and uncomfortable.

Ditto for the ladies. some have been physically beautiful and reasonably charming but most have been just ordinary folks and not a stereotypical cheerleader type at all. And while many of the single males have fit the jock/stud mold, the single fems I have met in person have been the opposite and many probably struggle for a date in the vanilla world.

So I guess my question is, are any of your observations similar or different from what I have described? Please share your thoughts and observations on this. I often hear discussions regarding cliques and such within the lifestyle and I am wondering if this is yet another battlefield between the jocks/cheerleaders and the nerds or is the lifestyle a place where the nerds truly do outnumber the jocks?

I know this has been discussed here, but I was thinking about this...

Most of us would say that while looks are important, personality can often be the deal breaker...

But here's my question - let's say that you have played with two couples - one couple are both absolute knock outs - built like you ordered them - but their personalities are a little lacking. Nothing bad, really, after all you did connect with them once - but still a little like talking to cardboard.

The other couple is cute - within the strike zone - but still, they have their flaws - and if it hadn't been for their sparkling personalities, you'd probably not have connected. But there was that twinkle in her eye and that incredible sense of humor of his... And so you played - and had a good time...

Now - you show up at the club...

You put your beer in the cooler and walk out into the common area. They are both there - and they both see you and smile...

Who are you playing with tonight?

We're curious about whether there are trends in personality types on a board like this.

Here's a link to a personality inventory called the Meyers Briggs test - most of you have probably seen it before. It's far from perfect, but might be really interesting in terms of whether there are trends here different from the population at large.

      Personality Test

To break the ice here's my results (the male half)
