110% Turnout

So last night we hosted another local group dinner. As has become the norm, up until the day before the event we had maybe 3 couples signed up. Then the day before we were up to 7 (plus one that wasn't on the list). By Saturday morning it was at 9 (still plus one... plus 2 of the couples were possibly bringing another couple).

As the day wore on we got one cancellation by email, so that put our list down to 8 couples signed up on Swing Lifestyle plus for sure 1 other couple that we knew was going to come.

We had managed to snag a private room at the restaurant, so we had plenty of room for extras to show up. In the end we had 10 couples who showed up. The 8 listed on Swing Lifestyle, the one we knew was coming but not signed up, plus one of the couples brought another one.

It definately makes doing these a lot easier when we actually get the turnout. And this is twice in a row that we've actually gotten 100% to show up. We have decided though, that since people typically don't sign up till the last minute and because of other events that come up, we aren't going to schedule them but about 2 weeks in advance from now on. With this one, I had checked all the local schedules and no one had anything posted for January (this was back in mid/late Dec). But, of course, after I posted the dinner, 2 socials were posted (granted neither were right here in town) that we would have liked to have gone to.

That said, it seems that so far these dinners have worked well for us as a way to weed out couples we aren't interested in. We've only met one new couples through them that we would like to actually play with at some point. We've met a couple of others that we totally enjoy hanging out with but there's just not 4 way chemistry.

The last event of yours that we attended was Nashville, Summer 2007. Great location and dinner, and even better company. There was only interest and amusement all around.

It's been an awfully full 1 1/2 years for us, and not much sign of clearing up for about that same amt. of time ahead, but we'll make another first chance. We'd only say to anyone who might have the opportunity for a group dinner, GO! It's nearly magic.

The "group dinners" we've been doing haven't been board related - although anyone from the board would be welcome to join us. We set up a local group on SLS in an attempt to meet more couples from the area - without having to do one on one dinners.

That sounds like a great idea for a way to meet couples without the pressure of a one on one meeting......plus.... you may have helped some of the other attending couples meet someone. We may have to borrow that idea.. if you don't mind... hahaha!
