I have a tat of me on my shoulder, I am in my Gi with a Maple Leaf behind me and I am holding my BO (a weapon). I love when Dog does it Doggie and kisses my tat. He has played the guess what I am doing to her game before. I love it. I will be getting it finished this summer. Her belt needs to have some black added.

 

I have one on my lower back as well, it is two fairies and they are named for my kids. I think that the best tat is one that means something to you. My Grandfather use to tell me I was blessed with fairies. I was always in trouble growing up and Grandad use to tell my father that it was the fairies that did it not J. Then I really was blessed, but this time with kids. So I put two and two together and came up with that one.

 

The one on my shoulder is my gift to me for getting my black belt. I live karate and kickboxing. Even my kids do it. If I medal this fall at the worlds I am going to get a fist put on my hip or back of my neck. Then I am done...for now.

 

So both of mine have significance in my life, therefore I will never outgrow it.

Always in my mind was whatever I chose I wouldn't really be that thrilled with 2-5 years down the road. As with all things tastes change...with a tattoo you are stuck with it unless you want to pay for surgery to remove it.

 

Then there is the other wonderful trait...they expand with your skin. Afraid to say it but we all widen a little at least as we get older...well so does that wonderful sexy tattoo...after a while not so sexy anymore.

 

I enjoy getting temporary henna tattoos to suit my moods or parties I am going to, a little like being able to change jewelery or nail color....variety is the spice of life.

I have to agree. I got mine done about 7 years ago. I was not one of the first, but I certainly was not along for the ride either.

 

But now everyone has a tattoo. Some are even pointless. I like to ask what the tattoo means or what is its significance. Some of the stories behind tats are pretty cool. Some are very lame.

 

I live in a resort community and every summer we have a tattoo shop open, and every summer you hear from some of the artists, "If I have to do another rose or butterfly, I am going to kill myself".

 

A group if giggling girls going on a bet or a whim is like a knife to a tattoo artist's heart.

 

Word of advice for anyone planning on a tattoo. Think about it, research, talk to the artist. I had four visits with the artist who did my girl, before any ink touched my skin. She loved doing it. Mine is an original. She designed it, and it looks great.

I think it depends on the person. Some people just look trashy with tattoos in certain places whereas the same place can look totally sexy on another person. I like to see tattoos on men on the upper arm and back, especially with muscles it looks cool. They have such rough bodies that it looks okay on them.

 

I don't really find them attractive on women, guess I'm the minority there. A woman's body is just so soft and smooth and a tattoo just messes that up. They've gotten to the point where they are TOO trendy nowadays among the teen to early 20's crowd and every other girl I see has one on the lower back above her butt.

TATTOO HORROR STORY: The tattoo I have on my lower back is my own design. It has special meaning to me. So I very carefully drew it out, digitally colourized it, and took it to the artist to see if there was anything else that needed to be done with it. He said no, but could he keep a copy of it? Uh...sure? I figured he was going to keep it on file or something for me. When I showed up the next week for my actual tattooing appointment, the guy at the desk says, "Oh yeah, I remember that design! That's a really nice tat. Joe (or whatever his name was) put that on someone last week..." SAY WHAT??? The jerk stole my design!! Did I make any money off it? No... Was it now my very own unique tattoo? Uh..NO! Moral of the story: if you have your heart set on designing a tattoo and making sure that it's UNIQUE, do NOT let the artist have a copy of it. Grrrr...

 

Ok, I'm not a lawyer (yet) and I don't know about the laws in Canada, but here in the U.S. when you create something, YOU own the copyright! And that's true whether or not you actually formally "copyrighted" it. So, you might want to trot on down to the store and demand royalties for every sale of your design, depending on the laws in your country. Just a thought.

It is part of the them trusting you, to see a part of them that is hidden from the rest of the world, but I am permitted to see. Well me and the wife have 2 tattoos each. We both got our first ones on the same night, by the same artist. We both thought long and hard about what we wanted, and both have special meaning.

 

The second ones we got were at different times, but both times were at a tattoo party thrown by some swinger friends in there house. A local artist that is also a swinger aranged to come and do them in house.

 

I think for sexiest location, it really depends on the tat and the person, of course lower back on a woman is always good, but a good pubic tattoo is hot too. One men I think arm tattoos and back tats are best.

 

Here are picks of my two (will have to dig up pics of the wifes tats). My arm one was the first, then I got the other one with the lip printsm, and yes those prints are traces of actual lip prints, my wifes in the center and a couple of friends. It has double meaning but I won't drag it on out here.
