Swinger apps. Is this the beginning of the end for sls/kasidie/sdc...? 3fun!

Recommended Posts

I remember years ago running across an app that was a sort of tinder for swingers (or at least let you see swingers near you) but I don't know if it's still around.

About as much as I trust sls or Craigslist. I've never used those either. But I've seen some reliable info on this site to help make better decisions.

This is not an ad for any site, but an honest review of online trends of swingers we are noticing in our area in the midwest. The main sites are great for events, some groups, and club scene. But for welcoming newcomers and online matching they are really disappointing. (I.e. Sls had 10 hot dates on Saturday for examples. For all of Chicago, 10 hot dates.)

We live in NWI, and are on two separate sites, (szc and sls) because sls is more popular in Chicago, while szc is more popular to the east and south. Lately we have been very bummed at the lack of new people, and couples in our age range joining these sites (we are 39/40). We were almost resigned to the fact that couples our age even existed in our area. We knew they were around, we met plenty through craigslist before, and host meet and greets as well.

So we switched it up, signed up of adultfriendfinder, and found a great new app called 3fun (basically tinder for threesomes and swingers). Wow, what a difference. I think the younger crowd is shifting towards the more open and non-swinger specific sites, interested in exploring a threesome or swinging. Most have never even heard of the swinging sites. We are talking to two younger couples in there 20's now, welcoming them into the lifestyle. We are not younger ourselves, but most of the couples we see online in our area regularly are in there 50's. Age is but a number. But for us we have a range we are comfortable with (we can't technically be old enough to be their parent, or vice versa).

3fun, has been the most fun and interactive. I was surprised how many couples were on there and how it simplifies the process of checking out a couple. Saying yay or nay, and starting a convo. We were talking to 6-7 couples within hours, while zero responses or interactions on the other sites for weeks.

Doublelist is a promising replacement to Craigslist, but far fewer people are aware of it, traffic is growing it seems, particularly for swingers.

Clearly the online swinging community is shifting... hopefully this will incentivize sls to actually redo/improve their site, and the others to be more innovative and welcoming to the younger generations.

3fun, 3fun, 3fun. It is tinder for swingers and growing like crazy. Best part is you can phone register without facebook. Came to the scene late last year. Checked it out today and holy crap are there a lot of couples and single males/females on there in our region (north west indiana and chicagoland). It is free like tinder, with a paid version like tinder with benefits. Very well done and best of all. Active users.

It looks like they started out as a straight hookup site targeting gay, bi, trans, poly, etc, and then learned about this market of 3-some and swingers, tuned it to focus on that. All we see are couples and singles looking for 3somes and full swaps.

Mmmmmm, doubtful. I won't argue that the younger crowd is more likely to look to their ever present phone for swinging just like they do for everything else in their lives. But, just because it's a phone app doesn't overcome the main hurdle that all new swinger personals sites face (and we've seen a bunch of them come and go), which is that the product being sold is other swingers, and the sites that have been around for decades are way ahead on that and cutting into that share is really difficult for a new site/app, doesn't matter how many new shiny bells and whistles it has. If you are starting something new, you'd better be in it for the long haul and financed accordingly, because there are going to be some lean times before you start to taste success.

Looks kinda pricey too. I didn't look close enough to see what all you are getting for that amount, but they seemed priced significantly higher than the others, especially given no lifetime membership option. Pay more for less - not a recipe for success, doesn't matter what the age group.

Don't mean to sound so negative, I wish them luck and am glad the swinger community is still vibrant enough that people still see opportunity there. Just think it's going to be a tough haul to knock the big boys off their perches.

3fun is not available for Android. And seeing as you referenced it in several different threads, I suspect you have a personal interest with 3fun.

I did read the reviews of similar apps. None of them to good reviews and a few were considered scams by every reviewer.

So I guess there are not any good apps for swingers at the moment.

I am on a samsing s9+, 3fun works fine for me on android. I see the same mix of couples, single males and females as I do on sls, sdz, aff

And no. I have no affiliation with 3fun. We run a meet and greet group on sls, and have enjoyed it, with the exception of no younger couples joining these sites, no updates to modernize the site, terrible group organization features, I could go on. Once a site has it's base in a region, there is no incentive to innovate, as couples are more or less 'forced' to use that site as that is where the couples are. I am excited about the healthy competition. I found my wife on tinder and always wondered why our community couldnt have the same.

I had high hopes for feeld, but it never seemed to gain traction, 3fun seems to be pretty popular here in chicago. Will try feeld again and see how it has grown.

If I log into sls right now, I will see tons of the same couples, and 10-15 new ones every week that never jump in and get a paid membership I log into 3fun, and I see some of the same couples, but a whole lot of new ones, and their demographics are younger.

I signed up today, didn't see anyone I recognized from SLS. There is a photo verification process and people tend to post more full face pictures. I like the free chat feature, have planned to meet someone tomorrow. On SLS my meetings usual result in maybe one good prospect every three months so it's not worth it to be paid for me. Lots of fakes and trolls even with paid members there.

I have found 3 couple so far in 2 days that we plan to meet on 3fun, better success than I have found on any swinger site so far. Hands down. The only ones on sls it seems are the same ones, every day, every week. We are not club people (we have been to 4, 8 times) or destination swingers (feel free to donate to our hedo fund)

We need sites and apps to connect with like minded couples in our area. Craigslist was the next best option, and we met just as many younger couples there as we did on the main sites. The current sites frankly stink and do no resonate with the newer generation, my perspective.

Btw, for community benefit and personal curiosity, I check out feeld again, 3somer, and swingery, all sucked terribly. Feeld and swingery are using almost the exact same profile generation process, which means they are building the app using an app generation tool, and not actually investing in proper ux design and custom development around our community (20 yrs of design/ux experience here). Feeld required facebook login, supposedly to prevent you from being a fake, but did it anyways to test it. no swinger wants a facebook login for a swinger site or app... I cannot believe they think that is a reasonable requirement and actually understands our privacy needs. Virtually no users in our area (nwi/chicagoland), which tells me they all sucked and gave up.

Also gave Kasidie and Swingtowns another look, nope, still terrible or no users in our area.

So, for Chicagoland... swinglifestyle.com is the mainstay, 3fun has the younger crowd (and is growing), swingerzonecentral to the south and east.

Please reply if this helped you, happy to check out new ones and share my thoughts.

Exactly, knocking the big boys off their perch... after 2 days on 3fun, I have seen 10 of the same regular couples I normally see regularly logging into SLS, the same 10 couples I have seen for months (and we have met with 2 of them). In addition... we see 30+ new couples, all younger, never seen them before on any site. And we are talking to 3 of them now. They literally copied tinder, targeted swingers and did what feeld couldn't. Actually deliver connections.

Agreed on the pricing, we are lifetime on sls and szc, got 1yr on kasidie for a steal, but was a waste. However, I would rather pay more to get actual connections with new friends than suffer though the decade old designs of the current sites and lack of new younger couples.

Do we not want the next generations to embrace the lifestyle like we have?

Swinging is an evolving hobby. 25 years ago contact was made generally by word of mouth and personal adds available primarily in seedy adult bookstores, a VERY slow and daunting process. Since then, numerous regional and several national sites have made swinger contact infinitely easier and exponentially faster. Im certain there will be new ways developed but hardly think that the websites will go away any time soon. Part of the op's issue may be geographical. I doubt that Gary, Indiana is a swingers hot bed like SFL, the major northeast cities, DFW or SA or Houston or some of those cities on the left coast.

What I am looking for is an app similar to Life360 with perhaps a bit more location sensitivity. This would open by subscription to swingers.

Imagine being at the fair, church, soccer game whatever vanilla place you can imagine and the little vibrator in you phone alerts you that somewhere within , say 250 feet, there is another subscriber whose phone is also buzzing. Perhaps a "connect feature"

, a blind phone call phone or text, could be built in. ( I am wearing a red jacket and seated in section 5A)

That would be a lot more fun than any of the other formats.

found a great new app called 3fun

You might want to do a bit of research on 3fun. The creator is XianLun Tang. Curiously, very few other pointers to this author on the web. The author has another app out there collecting data on the GLBT community. Where do you think the servers are located?

I am willing to bet not DFW or Boston. Perhaps somewhere nearer the Western edge of the Pacific rim?

Mike

I hope that you two are both doing well.

I looked at 3fun. It reads more like another version of AFF. What I had in mind was something that might be adapted off of the Track system.

To each their own, but that doesn't sound fun to me at all. We enjoy the "are they swingers?" people watching game as much as anyone, but what I don't really need is someone signing up that for service with the intent of trolling for swingers to extort, stalk, whatever. Sure, same thing can happen on the online sites, but there you have an arm's length distance and curtain of anonymity to first size someone up via exchanging messages, etc. Yes, at a club you don't have that opportunity either, but a club you are still as anonymous as you want to be and since it definitely is not a vanilla place, then everyone is on even neutral ground as it were.

There's a reason the majority of profiles don't have public face pics or other identifying info, and none of those people are going to be wanting to out themselves at their kid's soccer game or church via some phone app, so you already have lost the majority of your potential paying customers.

Again, don't mean to sound so negative, and to some people, that extra thrill is great for them, and that's perfectly fine, it's just not for us though and I suspect most others too.

The concerns that you mention are real. Please note that we too go the "No face Pics avatar" route .

The "outing" thing would not be a problem in what I have in mind. The app could always be turned off or if the tracker system used the chip could be placed in a box designed to block the system.

If one wishes an alias when meeting would be an option.

Meeting would not be assured as only those holding the phone would know that the proximity locator had picked up a signal. Doing anything as a result would require both parties to consent.

We also try to vet people using email. As has been noted quite often on the board email can, and often is, nonproductive and misleading.

Phone calls can be a bit better, maybe.

If we are truly interested , sooner or later we end up in a coffee house or restaurant with a couple or someone who we do not know.

So, Like I said your concerns about risks are valid. I just do not see the locator as extending those risks.

At any rate this service/ app does not exist as I envision it. So it is a moot point.

That is unless someone reading this has the knowledge and drive to create it.

Wow, great feedback, comments and observations from everyone! We recently heard a podcast from steak and tequila "getting into the swing of things" episode 16 focusing on apps and sites they use in their area (and have seen them posting here a bit...). They also used Tinder Bumble and Feeld with good success looking for single male and unicorns.

Regarding one piece of feedback about our location being Gary, which is actually 23 miles from Chicago, is part of Chicagoland, and a very densely populated area. (We actually live on the beach at the edge of the city, with views of Chicago). Our location has never been an issue with 4 clubs within 30 miles and a regular hotel takover 30 minutes the other way in MI. The issue we see has been since the craigslist shutdown, most newbie couples seem a little lost in dipping their toes in. The apps seem to be providing another avenue.

The one thing I do like about the main sites, (sls/szc) is that the couples that do join, pay and have good profiles tend to be a lot more commited to actually meeting, and I continue to recommend those highly to new couples, in addition to the new apps we have found fruitful.

I wish one or more of the main sites would be a little more innovative and maybe bring their experience and solutions to the younger market.

I have found with the "Pay To Use" sites that a lot of younger people simply don't join them because they can't afford to.

My concern regarding "Apps" is that sure a lot of new people may sign up but I'm guessing a lot of them would be time wasters / single guys who are not really interested in swinging but just want to fuck women / teenagers looking to play pranks, that a lot of people would sign up to the app who are not actually that interested in swinging, that they haven't really studied the subject, don't really know much about the subject, lack the general knowledge about the subject, just singed up for a blast or laugh.

      Hello!

We've been purusing ads looking for a single male as of late. We've found that in many cases men will state in their ads that they are "very open minded" or "very kinky" or even "open to new experiences".

For the most part, these men are simply bisexual or bi curious and we're now wondering if there are secret code words and hidden meanings behind other adverts we've come across. Is it common here to use phrases like "very open minded" to indicate that one is bisexual? What other phrases should we key in to?

Ok BE 100% honest people, How many times did you write, delete, rewrite, change, delete and add the HEADLINE and/or DESCRIPTION of your PROFILES. I know there is some bright, word savy, super confident in how they describe themselves individuals and I envy and admire that about you. But for some of us, at least us, it was kinda hard. I mean how do you sum up who you and your mate are as individuals, your sex life, your expectations and try not to sound creepy ALL AT THE SAME TIME?!?!?!? THEN DO IT IN A FEW WORDS ON THE HEADLINE TO ATTRACT PEOPLE!!! LOL

I'm glad to announce ours ended up being LETS HAVE A BLAST. smh I just said fuck it, I know sexually we can hang with the best of them and that we're good down to earth people so LETS HAVE A BLAST it is. To all that went thru our dilemma, cheers! Hope we get contacted, if not we'll be right back trying to come up with some catchy 5 word phrase that says WE WANT TO HAVE SEX WITH YOU BUT I NEED YOU TO WANT TO HAVE SEX WITH US TO SO HERE IS A BRIEF SUMMARY OF WHO WE ARE AND I HOPE IT WORKS! To those who didn't stress, NO sex for you tonight because your headline probably scored you and your partner some bomb ass swinging nights! But we still love you!!!!

Well thanks for reading, we hope our humor tickled you a bit and feel free to share your thoughts!!!

Where are the swinger sites for those of us that are 55 and over? We may be as they say over the hill but we sure as hell ain't under it...so come on all you older swingers, let's form a website of our own.

How do you handle privacy on SLS? I am unsure of whether I should put faces in my pics or not. I just don't want these pictures to be harvested by pic collectors or stalkers or things like that. I am debating on what to do.

      Any suggestions?
