What's up with kik?

We have used kik to chat with a few of our lifestyle friends, when we got frustrated with the SLS chat. It seemed like a few of our friends were on kik along with SLS or whatever other site they belonged to.

But lately, we've seen a fair number of people popping up out of the blue on kik, strangers starting chats with us there first, and asking if we are swingers. Unfortunately, we get spammed sometimes there as well (e.g., "Hello, I'm so hot for you, please click this link to chat with me.").

So, when did kik turn into a swinger-specific hangout?

Kik is as anonymous as you want it to be, so no worries about privacy if that is your goal.

I'm not sure when swingers started using it, but I'd say in the last year or two I have noticed a lot of "Our Kik name is...." posts.

It seems to me that a lot of the local craigslist (wannabe?) swingers have created kik groups for the region where we live. I see the round kik "upc" symbols to link to the groups posted as pictures. I dont know how legitimate or active these kik groups are.

I'm not really too worried about my privacy being invaded- it's easy to delete an unwanted conversation and block the originator, and our kik account has no identifying information in it.

She, as much as I, would love to, but she lives like 5 states away. I have other opportunities but I'm not really interested because of them being drama queens. I'll meet up with her eventually and she is really patient but eager. We pretty much agree we will involve others as long as we both are there, or even not both there, as long as the other one comes back and we re-enact it.
