New swingers - vaccinations or anything before play begins?

We have been happily married over 2 years and are beginning our journey into the lifestyle. Should we have shots or something before we get started?

Doesn't hurt to have a good physical (never hurts to have one) and maybe get tested for STDs (so you can say that you absolutely don't have any). Most of the 'getting ready' involves talking and listening to your spouse and determining your rules and boundaries. It's the emotional and trust that needs to be addressed mostly. Yes take very good care of yourself the motivation of looking good for each other and your dates is a nice benefit.

We have std blood tests annually or more ofter as play partners change. We require it of our new play partners also.

HPV vaccine might be nice to have, a keeping your typical Measles, Mumps, Whooping Cough, Chicken Pox, and annual Flu up to date is just good medicine all way round.

Face the facks swinging with multiple partners is risky behavior. You can’t ever be 100% safe , condoms break, etc. Is it worth the risk to you? Only monogamy will protect you.

If you can get the HPV vaccination, it might be a good idea. Look into it and decide. We also get a blood test for STDs roughly annually. We are also 100% condom compliant for full swap. Condoms are not 100% reliable against HPV and HSV. If you pursue this hobby, it is not without risks. Just know that going in.

My wife and I like swinging. But we think about the STD and we'll postpone it

Monogamy is the 'safest' type of sexual contact (as long as both parties remain monogamous). After that EVERY kind of sexual contact can lead to a STD. Swingers happen to realize this and due to the openness of the communication and trust involved, usually DO something to limit the possible exposure (which is why all three answers suggested testing; if everyone is tested, then it limits the chance of anything happening). Nobody WANTS to get an STD, and the best way to limit that is to start 'at home' by being tested first. Would you rather KNOW your potential partners have been tested and are 'clean' or just hope that they are just 'like you' and therefore 'clean'. If being responsible and testing is too big of a risk, then you are doing the right thing by remaining monogamous (can't think of better wording that doesn't sound snarky...that is not the intent, what you are doing is the right choice for you).

I don't know of any shots you could get that would prevent STI's. You could get a full battery of hepatitis shots though since Hep B is easily transmitted via sex. Other than that, wear condoms.

You can be vacinated to prevent HPV. The leading cause of cervical cancer and very widespread.
