Swinging in Cosmopolitan magazine - We have arrived!

Recommended Posts

The April 2015 issue of Cosmopolitan has a rather nice feature article on swinging, the teaser is "I Like High-End Sex Parties - And I'm Not a Weirdo". If swinging is featured in mainstream media at all, then it's usually a couple sharing that they swing and it works for them, and then three or four "experts" who solemnly say that it really isn't working for the couple, they only think it is despite all evidence to the contrary. Or, the other option, the salacious sweeps week "swingers in your neighborhood" investigative report.

This piece gives an accurate portrayal of the swinger party vibe, and the best thing, the author isn't afraid to unequivocally say they love it, it works for them, and hits upon the accepting and non-judgmental aspects of swingers.

I haven't found it online, so no link, but worth a read if you get a chance.

Did the Cosmo feature writer just call me a weirdo?

The essence of propaganda or yellow journalism is to know how to prevaricate without telling an actual lie.

I actually think she called you a regular, everyday outstanding citizen who just happens to have a different outlook on monogamy, no big deal. When I used "We have arrived" in the title, I was referencing that. This is the first piece I have ever seen that didn't have that "they're different/weird" feel to it.

Interesting: left is the cover online, right is the paper version.

And: orgasms = "love".

At our grocery stores Cosmo is always covered by an opaque plastic sheet so you can only see the word "Cosmopolitan". Is it like that everywhere?

I have never seen that over here. But then again, Penthouse and Playboy, even hardcore porn magazines are just on display in most magazine shops and fuel stations, although always on the top shelf.

Sex Parties - Where Everyday People Indulge in Their Wildest Fantasies

So I read this article and was kinda flabbergasted. It had that whole 'enter if you dare' vibe that you continuously get from the media when it comes to a group sex party. First off the article isn't really for 'Everyday Couples', it was for gay men. Kinda like ... here Mr and Mrs normal America this is what those gay men do?? WTF??

The second party wasn't a party more like a porn movie theater?? WTF!!!

The liberal side of media still gives us a bum wrap, and you can forget about the conservative side. Am I the only one seeing this? Are others? Are there articles that accurately describe the lifestyle?

Swinging Is Back, But Is It Right For You?

Times have certainly changed since the 60s Sexual Revolution! What was once extremely taboo and only took place behind closed doors now has a website, and researchers are noticing a shift towards younger generations.

Hey everyone, we have our own website now! It doesn't go on to mention THE swinger website, but I sure hope it's this one

It's actually a fairly good article compared to most. The comments, always the most entertaining part, are more live and let live than usual, which along with claiming to actually have a good friend, etc. who happily swings, is a trend I have been noticing over the last few years.
