Hello all, my wife and I are looking into going to Caliente Tampa in late June and was hoping someone here could shed some light on the accommodations. I’ve been able to find info on the social scene, which looks to be fun (but please feel free to let us know more), but I can’t find a whole lot on the rooms/condos. Not expecting a 5 Star resort, but would like some sort of insight. Should we stay at hotel or Casita (not sure what this even is) or condo? Also any info on experience if you took the Club Preview Tour promotion would also be greatly appreciated. We’re looking forward to a great time (we’ve only experienced a day/night pass at Hedo...good times!), but don’t want it to be ruined by substandard accommodations. Thanks for any input you can provide!

We've been to Caliente once just to check it out. We live in the Pacific NW so Caliente is not on our travel path so to speak but we did want to try it once. We went with another couple and went with renting a 2 bedroom condo. This gave us the space to relax, cook some meals and have some couples fun.

We did do the Sales Meeting (required to get the price break for first time visitors)with the other couple. So the 4 of us meet our sales guy for breakfast. That included a tour of the grounds so we were able to see what the on site motel/hotel looked like. They said they were renovating the rooms but the room was like any other hotel although maybe dated some (and thus the planned renovations). After a couple of hours of the sales meeting, we told them we were not interested in any package they had to offer. They had us sign a document stating this was a one time offer and would not be offered again. We gladly signed it (after reading it carefully) and left.

Would we go back to Caliente - most likely not since if we have to travel that far for a clothing optional resort, we will hit Cancun (Desire) for the overall experience. But if Caliente is within a reasonable distance, then perhaps on a weekend when there is far more activity. The time during the week was pretty sedate.

We have only stayed in a casita so do not know what kind of experience the hotel offers. Do keep in mind that it is a clothing-optional resort and not a swingers’ resort. The management welcome swingers but not all members do. If you decide to go, take care about approaching people if you have play in mind.

We’ve stayed in the condos. Big upgrade over hotel or casitas, still not that costly for us NYC area people. It is nudist, but no problem finding lifestylers.

My wife and I have stayed at Caliente for a total of 9 days over the last year (three 2 night weekend stays). We have never stayed in anything but the hotel, but have seen a few of the privately owned condos.

The hotel is a 2.5-3 star place. It's dated, and can even be a little dingy. I like nice clean, new hotel rooms but these have some age to them. When you check in ask if you want an upper or lower room, and ask if they have any that are updated or repainted. The updated ones are very nice but are probably given to members first.

If being upstairs is no problem ask for a hotel room closest to the Clubhouse. It will save you some walking, and you don't have to wait for a golf cart pickup. Any of the condos would require a drive it golf cart pickup. Sometimes the pickups are fast, sometimes you have to wait. We liked just being able to walk in.

Our sales pitch was extremely laid back and zero pressure. Since it was out first time at a clothing optional resort we weren't interested in becoming a member just yet. But I was very happy that there no pressure.

The preview tour was basically meeting with an employee, very nice guy at their outdoor patio. We looked at a price breakdown of being a member. Took 15 minutes, and took a tour of the grounds by golf cart. When we went it was just us and the Caliente employee. For us it was no pressure and no hassle. Basically as new people we didn't even know if we would come back, but I was very pleased there was no pressure. I was in pressed at how Caliente handled this but your mileage may vary.

The food there is excellent! From Burgers to steaks, chicken and seafood every meal we had was phenomenal and we are very picky on good meals! We've dined at the restaurant and at the sports bar and every time the food was top notch.

    A few odds and ends:

Tough call on deciding to use the hot tub & conversation pool late at night or the night club.

One Friday at 11pm, the night club was empty and the hot tub & conversation pools we're vacant. The next night on Saturday it was packed with tons of people!

Every room we've had came with a very good sized mini fridge. I would buy water from a Publix to stock it up. You can not bring your own food or drinks into the Club House.

Golf cart service is 24x7 by calling the front desk.

On nights with a hosted group (usually Saturdays) about 130am shuttle service to the after party will start. I was confused about this but people will be waiting for it to start in the lobby. Most after parties are BYOB.

If you have the chance I highly recommend attending the Meeting & Greets for new members. They are hosted by Experienced social coordinators. It's a very non threatening way to meet other people. If you have any questions there are people there to help. For us it helped with nerves our first time. Everyone there was extremely friendly.

We had the opportunity to meet Kevin and Kim Sellers and Johanna and KC. They are some of the nicest people you will ever meet.

You can get access to the Caliente New Guest Facebook Group by asking the front desk about it. It's a private group and a great place for info. I personally made a new Facebook account untied to our real names for just this purpose.

Thanks to all who responded, there is some good info here. Haven’t decided on condo or hotel yet, but we’re definitely going. This will be our first stay at any clothing optional/lifestyle resort (other than day/night pass at Hedo last April) and we’re definitely excited, but also apprehensive as we’re not fully immersed into the lifestyle yet (but going naked is not a problem, so that’s one issue we’re totally at ease with!). Thanks again!

I found the other guests were just as nice as the employees. Oddly enough I'm not very social but I found it very easy to talk to the other guests. It seemed like everyone was happy just to be there at a minimum. The vibe was very positive.

Our sales guy was relatively new, so I'm not sure if the sales portion has changed. For us it was brief, and we had the appointment at 0900 or 1000 on Sunday morning since we were leaving early on Sunday.

Make sure to post what you thought and how you liked it.

We have friends whom are owners so that helped. I did find it a bit shocking that early in the day, a mix of nudists and swingers each with their own click and the swingers started engaging in oral sex in the hot tub. At night it was sensory overload when we were there. Otherwise one does not have to swing... can just enjoy the sites.

We were at Caliente several years ago and stayed in the hotel. We thought the rooms were quite dated then and were told that renovations were coming. Apparently they're not in much of a rush to get them done. Having been to Desire and several nice resorts in the Caribbean, we thought the entire place was a bit run down. The staff was nice and the time share pitch was fairly low key. Beware: the food and alcohol and even soda and water is pricey at the pool and you can run up a substantial tab in addition to the cost of the room. Some of the nudists resent swingers but since we were there with friends for the 1st 2 days, it wasn't an issue. The last full day, we were hanging at the pool next to an attractive couple near our age. We spent the afternoon with them, had a few drinks and were getting along quite well. The Florida sun is vicious in August so when Mrs Doc had enough, she suggested (with a wink and a smile) to the other couple that we continue the party in our room. You'd have thought we had offered to kill and bbq their dog for dinner. They were highly offended and walked away in a snit. Ooooops!

They could have politely declined. They had to realize the subtheme of this resort.

My GF and I are interested in being swingers with no experience. In our 40’s and have been together for years. We booked a trip at the end of March. Any advice? Looking forward to dancing and eating, drinking and meeting new people either way. Anyone been here in 2019?

We are going the last weekend of March, arriving Thursday, flying out Monday. We have no experience in the LS, but would love to watch and maybe even put on a show! Would love to chat with you either before or when we get there

Hope you two above are a match!

Tip: be in the conversation pool around midnight on Friday or Saturday if you want to hook up. Tip 2: use Astroglide X lube for underwater sex.

I just wanted to follow up with some comments on our trip (this post is long overdue!). We are not exactly in the Lifestyle, but enjoy hanging around the fringes of it...and Caliente was perfect for this (we’d previoysly done a day/night pass at Hedo)! The place is a little dated, but we knew that going in so our expectations were lowered. We weren’t paying for a five star resort, but more paying for “the experience”. As a “resort” it definitely outperformed our lowered expectations (especially the food!). The atmosphere was fun and exciting, even though the weather was not. It was tamer during the day than I though it would be. A lot of people were there, but being our first extended stay at a place like this I guess we expected more daytime “action”. However, the night time and conversation pool action was great(with Saturday being the best)! We watched and were watched, just like we wanted. While we were not looking to hook up with anyone, we did meet a ton of great people. I did get the impression it was a bit cliquey there, but we just ended up talking to people outside the cliques, which was plenty for us. While we did enjoy it, we went using the promotional price (very low pressure sales pitch BTW) and I’m not sure I’d go again if we had to pay full price (maybe if we lived within driving distance). We’re planning a trip to a Desire Resort for next spring instead, so any suggestions on which of the two resorts a mid-40s relatively in-shape couple that likes to have a good time should go are greatly appreciated(but not “that good of time”😉 ...her choice)! I’d be happy to answer any specific questions about Caliente anyone may have, because while we didn’t participate in the highest level of fun, we sure saw a lot of it!

PS I’ll never forget watching a guy take his daily morning stroll around the complex in nothing but ankle weights!!

Just got these messages but let me say omg. This Was a crazy long weekend. The conversation pool was off the hook. Maybe to much. We ended up with two threesomes and one couple by the Monday. Started off just having sex in front of people in the pool Thursday. Ended up with a threesome Thursday and Friday nights. Saturday night which was crazy ended up take another couple back to the room. Sunday went to Epcot to recover after our 4am nightly adventures. Everyone was so nice to us. To nice. One thing we realized is this is what they do we were rookies. Must have seen us coming a mile away. So charming and smooth it’s scary. If we can do it over we may have made a few better decisions. But overall it was an exciting weekend. Just be smart and do what’s best for you as a couple not what the smooth talkers want. The resort was amazing though loved it so beautiful.

We loved being naked by the pool was some nice bonding time. Thanks for the replies.
