Desire Mexico questions from first time couple

Recommended Posts

So the wife and I are somewhat new to the scene; but are coming up on our 11th wedding anniversary and the concept of an "adults only" resort was broached. Couple fast questions for those who can answer them...

October in Mexico seems reasonable, but we're pasty Canadians and nude sunbathing scares me. Is there shade and sufficient cover to hide around the pool and at the beach?

How friendly are the staff? Are gratuities expected on the all inclusive and if so, what percentage?

How forgiving is the clientele on new people? As I said, were fairly new and ogling is our main past time now.

Thanks a bunch!

First off, October is great down there. If you are new, you may want to avoid Halloween, it gets a little crazy. October is the end of Hurricane season so you can get some rainy weather, but we have been twice in October with no problems.

There is lots of shade and umbrella's. You can ask the pool person to move them around so you are covered by the pool. The beach beds have curtains on the sides so you never really get lots of sun. Regardless take sunscreen and put it on in the morning. I would suggest a waterproof SPF 30 or 50. You will still get sun.

The staff is fantastic. I have stayed at really nice resorts all over the world and you will not find anyone nicer. Tips are not required, but you will want to. Take a $100 or $200 in $5 and pass them around, they will be very happy.

They love newbies. Everyone is super friendly. They will show you the ropes. If you are looking into it, I would suggest you visit Desire Resort Forums ? Index page it is a great forum just about Desire.

@MrSaxon, fellow pasty Canadians here. We go to Desire RM annually with the Life on the Swingset crew in early November. The staff is attentive and helpful, and we've never had a problem find shade to hang out under. That, along with liberal application of SPF60 sunblock has meant that after 6 trips neither of us have yet to come home with a sunburn. The crowd is delightfully welcoming, and the weather is usually lovely (though it can occasionally be wet, and temps can vary from cool to muggy in the evenings) Our 7th trip is coming up November 4th, we cannot wait.

We also go every year with the Life on the Swingset group. I do not like to be in the sun at all. There is plenty of shade in and around the pool.

The group is really welcoming to new people and they sponsor a lot of get to know you activities that don't happen during regular weeks.

The staff is fabulous.

We have been there 5 times over about 7 years. It’s always wonderful. First visit, we had been in a few MFM and swaps so we weren’t novices but we did have sex while there; and no one pressured us to and we didn’t feel out of it. One other time, a short visit that was more about us relaxing then swinging, the same thing. A lot of flirting, some touching, a little “soft play along the way, but no pressure from anyone. Its a classy place, great food, good service, very clean.

The beach has beds that have sides and a roof, same goes for the cabanas around the pool. First day there ask whoever is in charge of the beach and pool area to set you up with a spot...tip them $20 and usually that spot will be saved for you all week. Plenty of shade, but putting on sunscreen a few times a day can be really fun...

Extremely friendly...in fact everyone there is usually very friendly (swingers are among the friendliest people you will meet). Since Desire is an all inclusive resort, tipping on a percentage is impossible to do. What we usually do is give a few dollars to anyone who does a really good job...knowing that it will only encourage them to keep doing that for us during the stay.

Very. See 'swingers are among the friendliest people you will meet' comment above. Nothing will happen that you won't allow to happen. Just remember, it's vacation and have a good time. Don't worry about anything, just enjoy yourself and know that most everyone will ask permission before anything happens.
