I've never been, but I've heard good things. It looks like the most recent review was a few years ago, so it would be great to hear from someone who has been in the last year or so.

The Swingercast podcast couple visited there and talked about it on their podcast within the last year I believe. It's probably in the title or the description on iTunes.

Well, gosh darnit! I was hoping for reviews on the place, too. It had recently been suggested to us that we should try out Sea Mountain Resort. Since it is only about 3-4 hours away, we've been thinking about trying it out. I guess when we go, I'll have to remember to review the place upon our return. :)

You do that. We've heard about it as well, but haven't ventured to it (yet). There's just some things that seem unusual to us...like it's in a suburban area (all that desert and they couldn't find somewhere more remote) and it seems small. We keep saying that we will check it out next time we are down that way, but we just haven't been down that way recently.

So, the wifey and I are taking the plunge this Memorial Day and checking this place out. Any suggestions for a couple of first timers? She's early 30's I'm 42, both in shape. I want it to be a fun experience for her and would like to see her play with some new friends.

Shux! I just tried to post a very lengthy and detailed response that did not take. Dooope!

As I am now tired, I will just say for now my wife and I have been four times and really enjoy the resort. I am happy to answer any further specific questions! (Again can't believe what took me an hour to type!)

Fastastic review, Mr. Marvin. My appreciation for your persistence in getting it in front of us.

My wife and I have experienced only a couple of clothing-optional resorts but this one seems to be an exception owing to the fact that open sex happens. The places we've visited it was made amply clear before we got in that sex in the public areas would not be tolerated. It does, overall, sound like a great place.

Glad you got something out of the review. Yes, if you and your wife enjoy the freedom to express yourselves any time and pretty much anywhere on the property, SMI is the right place. It does kind of crack me up though with some reviews I have read in the past (especially on Tripadvisor) about how shocking this is to some. While I respect those who would not find that to their liking, it still makes me laugh just imaging the horrified look on their faces. In any event, if anyone is squeamish or not comfortable with big time "PDA" in graphic display, seriously you should avoid SMI.

Thank you so much for taking the time (again) to type out your review. :) I (and I'm sure many others) really appreciated it and has verified what we have heard of the place. I'm going to have to see if we can take a small trip over there one of the weekends during the summer with Mr. Sun!

Just now saw this. I think a good portion of your questions are hopefully addressed in my lengthy response. Adding to that--

1. Most definitely newbie friendly. We had zero exposure to the lifestyle the first time we went. No one pressured us and we did not feel "scuzzy." It was just a very nice vibe and environment that opened our eyes. Even if you are shy, you can still go and enjoy. You can "mingle until you tingle" or just enjoy alone time. All has been welcomed from our experience.

2. The staff is friendly and nice. They are all female with most appearing to be in their 20s or 30s. We have no complaints with the staff.

Hopefully this helps!

"the resort does not allow single men"

Why do single men get the shaft? If they are respectful they should be allowed just as a single female would be allowed.

My wife is very very unsure of this lifestyle. She is very reluctant to go to an adult resort. She has a perception that is hard to shake. It would be easier to convince her to go if I had experienced it myself.

To me it would be fun to go just to experience and be a people watcher and have a better understanding. I am also not talking about being a participant or a voyeur, nor a sexual pervert or ass. It would be able to talk with people in the lifestyle face to face, ask questions, understand, and enjoy.

Also, just to prove to myself that they really exist.

I can't speak for everyone or every experience but there are always those single men who, right or wrong, ruin for the rest of them. Regardless, this resort works.

If it helps, both my wife and I were both nervous our first time. However, we quickly were put at ease and, again, found both the guests and staff to be great. No one said we had to do anything or that matter, even interact with anyone. In fact our first visit was mainly spent enjoying each other and really not interacting. That however changed on subsequent visits.

You can always try a day pass for a minimal investment (I want to say it is like 99 bucks on certain days for couples). If it doesn't work for either or both of you, you can cut bait and say you've tried it.

Like everything, it's about money. If single guys are hurting a resort's core customer base, which is likely couples, then they are going to ban them. Are all single guys deserving of that? Absolutely not, but fair or not, every single guy carries the sins of every other single guy before him tattooed on his forehead.

I've seen some obnoxious drunk-ass single females too that should have already been shown the door, and when it comes to them, they are each judged individually and they don't carry the sins of their whole demographic. Totally unfair, but that's what you get when one group is in short supply but high demand and the other group is in high supply but short demand.

Just an idea, but would she be more comfortable if you just went somewhere together with a day pass? We've been to clothing-optional type resorts, and in most areas it was just that, optional. Most people were nude but some weren't, and while there was definitely the feel of swinging in the air compared to your neighborhood pool, it stayed fairly restrained during the middle of the day and then was let loose once night came.

Single men, even if they are respectful bring a different vibe to a place. Then there is the problem of how do you know who the respectful ones are? I have encountered many disrespectful single men and they look and pay just like the respectful ones. I usually stand up for single guys participating in the lifestyle, but we much prefer to go to couples only clothing optional or nude resorts.

I don't think it's a good idea for husbands to go to clubs or resorts alone first "to check it out for the shy wife". I have met guys at the club doing this and it comes across as very sketchy. I really believe this lifestyle is about having adventures and taking risks together. You lose something if one checks it out and then convinces the other. If your wife is uninterested or unwilling it's probably best not to pursue it. If she is interested this resort sounds like an ideal way to dip a toe in together.

I 100% agree with funcoupledayton! Ever since we've started swinging, there was one "couple" profile that consistently messaged us on SLS. Always the husband. He always talks about bringing the wife to visit with him (he takes frequent trips to our location) but whenever he does, they can't meet. On the times that he comes alone, he can. We met him once while we were out at a club, just to humor him. He was a very nice fellow but we weren't going to do anything with him unless we also met his wife in person. Could his wife be a willing participate in swinging? Sure, there's a chance but it has been so sketchy or convenient that we have not yet met his wife that we are very dubious about his intentions.

Why would you think it sketchy if he was completely upfront. I am not here to play... Only to learn about the lifestyle. I would think that that would be very acceptable and very much appreciated. If I were experienced I would welcome the opportunity to guide someone into the lifestyle.

Having not had much experience maybe I don't get it. But to me it is a lot like the advice given on this forum.

So I do understand why you may want to limit simple guys... Because there are so many of them and you don't want to be overwhelmed by them. But as was said earlier the single woman can misbehave just as much as the single men. And I would venture that in my vanilla world experience I have seen the drunk and obnoxious couples as well.

Why is the vibe different. I get the feeling that there are a lot of people looking for a MFM and that is best accomplished with a single male. Also, I have seen it said that a married male who has a hall pass can be a more reliable play partner than a single male due to the lack of potential to want to get involved with a relationship.

Now this is getting way off the topic of this post so if the mods could relocate it it would be good. If not I will start another post that is on this topic.

Turning back to the topic at hand (and not to comment jump and noting I did add my two cents), my wife and I are hoping to set up our fifth trip this summer. Would enjoy also reading what all of you think when and if you go.

Again thank you for your time in writing this review. I look forward to taking my wife. From what you write it sounds like a great mix, not too vanilla, not too crazy. Age group is good and a well rounded group of people.

Didn't mean to hijack the post.

No worries here. I did not start the thread and your comments were related to rules of the establishment. Fair question in my view.

We used to frequent a club where single males were allowed but limited in number and where they could go (basically, they have to stay at the bar unless invited to a table, etc. by a couple). So, a restricted type environment that you would think would help filter out the clueless.

Here's a story that helps explain our personal perspective on it, and this is just us. We are interested in couples swaps, so that's usually all we pay much attention to, but one time mrs. cplnuswing spotted a guy at the bar that she thought was cute and decided to ask him to dance. Within 30 seconds of hitting the dance floor he had his hand up her skirt trying to get his fingers in her pussy.

At that club and various other places too, she has danced with numerous married guys. How many have done that same thing? Zero.

To your point about being upfront, she had chatted with him a minute or two also before they headed to the dance floor, and he seemed upfront too that he understand he was just being asked for a dance and that was it. To use a cliche...they all say that.

Granted, small sample size, but 1) upscale club with restricted environment, 2) single guys still batting one for one in the clueless department. All single guys carry the burden of the others, and as a single guy, those guys aren't just the competition, they are your worst enemy and the two-ton anchor around your neck. It's not fair, but for those who aren't looking for a single, instead of taking a chance and then having to deal with some BS and that takes away from their fun night, then they just won't take the chance.

As cplnuswing, it's more of a case of the number of single men who have misbehaved that create the trouble for those who do behave. We've met a few nice ones, I won't lie, but the time where one single male was chasing us out the door to ask us why he didn't get invited back to our hotel room tend to make us wary. Or take the times when single males flock to any playroom that has action to get a peek. Or the times when a group of single men have crowded around the bed we were playing on and hovered really close to sneak a feel. Or even a married male that came up to us and proclaimed that his sex life with his wife has gotten stale and turned to the LS to solve the problem, all the while, looking as if he'd pounce on me. It just piles on and on. And it is unfair to those who are respectful and understand the rules. But that's why I always emphasis with single men who come here to be respectful to both the wife and husband of a couple. It goes a long way.

Being upfront about why you're there is great. The downside is that with so many married men posing as single males or married men who are pushing their wives into swinging, it puts doubt on those that we meet that don't have their spouse with them. I'm sure you've read about how couples set up a meeting with another couple but only the husband shows up because the wife is "not feeling well". Or men who bring a woman to a meeting/club/party but his wife is really at home not knowing that he is swinging with this other woman. After awhile, it's either meet with both the husband and wife in person to verify that everything is on the up and up or nothing at all.

As for the vibe (when a lot of single men are in attendance), as a woman walking through a throng of men at a swingers party/club...it can feel like you're a lamb walking amongst wolves ready to pounce on you. On one hand, it's a little exhilarating but on the other, a part of you feels unsafe because you feel like they feel entitled to taking something from you. After all, we're all there for the possibility of sex...it's just amplified when the ratio of men to women favors the men. Does that make sense?

We visited SM in March, been there 4 times when we make it to California. It's our favorite lifestyle resort, everyone has to be nude so there are no clothed gawkers and it is couples only. There are lockers and towels provided. We've only been on Saturdays, the pool area has a lot of hot action all afternoon. At night action all over especially the hot tub area. Dewey, the owner, is first class and makes everyone welcome. Hope this helps, you'll have fun.

Even if they provide condoms I would bring your own. That way you know they fit, feel good and are not expired. In my experience free condoms are often cheap and not the best quality.

I agree with funcoupledayton. Bring some just in case they aren't provided. And if they are, at least you know that the condoms you supply fit you and/or meet any allergy issues you may have.

We just returned from another trip to SMI. We had a great time as always. Let me first say the women who work the resort (the "Goddesses" as they are called) were down right wonderful and friendly.

On this last trip, it seemed to us there was a dearth of lifestyle couples. Most couples seemed to desire to be left alone as a couple (and there is nothing wrong with that). We did however chat with a few lifestyle couples; we even got hit on but passed for reasons I will not detail here.

It really can be a roll of the dice on the guest makeup but hey we still had fun. PDA was still there with the usual "fun sites" (we even saw a MFM on the lifestyle front; only lifestyle action we observed).

All told, another fun trip and we plan to go again.

I’ve thought about going to this nudist resort near Sacramento, Does anybody have any experience there?
    • By decpl2021
We just returned from our stay at Hedonism 2 in Jamaica and the worst part of it was having to leave. I wanted to thank everyone here and those that left reviews elsewhere for your recommendation. We were NOT disappointed. While many people are in different stages of the lifestyle with different interests, I wanted to provide my feedback to help them decide or provide some insight for those just getting started in the lifestyle.

The facility was laid out very well, while they have a nude side and a prude side, either side is perfectly fine to choose and it is a very short walk should you choose to explore. The so called prude side, housing and beach, is the perfect place to spend the morning recovering from the night before or simply hang out in a quiet place for peaceful morning, relaxation and enjoy a more private intimate moment with your spouse or simply open a book to read. Clothing is optional, so do expect to see both nude, partially nude and fully clothed people.

The Nude side, is the perfect place for party time, anything goes to the wildest and most open forms in sexual interaction. The best way to describe the beach is 0 to 10. You can choose to be totally isolated at the very end of the beach where it starts on the border to the next resort and can walk down to the other end  which ends up being a non stop 24/7 party! You can basically walk along (a short easy walk) and choose to stay wherever you like. While being nude is required for this side, you can still expect to see some people with some sort of covering, sheer/lace, hat even a sarong.

      Logistics:
The Food is delicious, all kinds of food available for just about every taste, the staff is also familiar to help you with any food allergies and sensitivities. Don't hesitate to ask should you have some concerns regarding the ingredients, the staff is very friendly and happy to get any questions answered. On one occasion, (Asian Food Night) the chef came out personally went over which dishes contained gluten and pointed out what was safe. I stopped him half way through because there was more than enough to eat. Plates, Silverware, Napkins were all very clean, staff visited the table often to top off drinks and take away any plates.

The Bars were fully stocked, the drinks were properly mixed and no sense of being watered down or weak like we saw at other resorts. If you want an extra strong drink, they were happy to oblige but the standard drink was as you would expect.
While they didn't have bottled water, you are given a reusable container with plenty of fill stations. The refill stations throughout the resort are triple filtered with UV to provide safe clean drinking water. The water was clean, odorless and tasted as you would expect from bottled water.

The pools were clean and open to everyone, most of which are clothing optional with the exception of the one group of pools at the end of the nude side which was nude only. While there are several small pools through the resort, it was no trouble to find one that you can enjoy alone time with your mate. Same would go for hot tubs, plenty to choose from, private and open both nude and clothing optional.
The nude side has a row of pools, semi warm one with a swim up bar, snack bar, wading pool (warm), waterfall that is a fence for a more private cave, large open hot pool, large cold pool and a smaller hot tub which is very warm. All of which are connected and easy to jump from pool to pool.

      Nude Side:
      - Do expect 99% to be Nude
      - Do expect to view open sexual activity, everywhere, on the beach, on the deck, around the pool, in the pool, on the floating dock, in the water, on the sand...... everywhere but inside the restaurants.

      Maintenance:
While some did frown upon one pool or one room being closed as a given time, this is a good thing to be honest. The resort is basically a 24/7 establishment, there has to be a time where they perform maintenance and not every single room can be open 100% of the time. The resort is working hard to keep the property updated and clean, the closing of some rooms and pools should be expected. Nobody wants to go to a 'run down' resort. They are very conscious to maximize up time. For example, when we arrived the "Kamasutra Palace" was closed, we were a little upset at the moment but we saw that it was being repainted, new lighting fixtures being installed, floors being refinished and the whole building inside and outside being pressure washed. The next day, we went to find the other play room, just to find it closed but a sign hanging stating that the Kamasutra Palace was reopened and taking the place of the second play room. The same maintenance was going on there at the time. So there was always a play room open and while closing of any room sucks, it is nice to know they are keeping the buildings maintained and clean.

We saw two pools closed during our stay which was no big deal as there were still many to choose from. I was surprised that they drained one pool, scrubbed, painted, made repairs and was refilled and back in operation within 48 hours. I've seen pools closed for weeks at hotels to make these types of repairs. I saw their crew out there in the dark working until it was reopened.

Rooms: While the rooms were nice they were a little 'dated', wondering if they would be renovated anytime soon..... We then noticed 4 rooms with work crews gutting them for renovation, so do expect to see a new look on the other rooms the future
Our room had one small issue, a drip of condensation from the A/C Unit, before we can even make a report, the maid noticed it and automatically contacted the A/C Repair Folks, they were in there during the daily cleaning and had it fixed in about 20 minutes.

Beaches: The beaches were cleaned daily of leaves and debris but no real trash was ever noticed. The beaches and water were very clean, plenty of towels stocked, plenty of seating and hammocks to relax in. Some of the rooms also had private hot tubs on the deck facing the beach, a few in which we visited, all of which were cleaned and treated daily, good condition and proper working order.

Security: The beach is patrolled with several safety/security officers. None of which were a bother, they would greet you with a smile. I didn't see any of them up close to 'personal activity' but kept their distance. They were very professional and just let people do what they wanted for the most part. If there was some activity that kicked off, I noticed an officer excuse himself from that area and simply moved a little further away to provide privacy. The officers would routinely look in another direction and not take the scenes as a movie for them to watch. The staff was the same way, basically walk by and ignore the activity, no judging, no finger pointing, very very professional.
We did have one interaction, while we met some new friends, one of them required an 'assisted' walk back to her room due to a little intoxication, as she was staying in the room next to us, we offered to walk her back, not due to a security concern but more of a trip and fall consideration. We were approached by security and was kindly asked what was "going on here" we explained and all was well, they did keep an eye to ensure there wasn't something else taking place but allowed us to go on our own and kept a good distance.

      Guests:
The best part of the trip were the people there. We have never met such a great group of people in our entire life. The people were non judging, open, very easy to talk to, happy to converse with anyone. The demographics of the group was better than expected. If you're worried about a certain age group or nationality, let it be known that it is a very diverse group of people. We've met people of all age groups, even a few in their 70's, all sizes, shapes, colors, classes, singles, couples. There is simply something or someone for everyone, no matter your level of participation in the lifestyle, you will not be disappointed. The people were very respectful.

I highly recommend this resort to anyone, even if you're not currently practicing in the lifestyle, it is an experience that you will not forget.
If anyone has any questions, I will do my best to answer.

Hi, We are considering visiting Cherry Lane resort in Michigan. Can we hear some personal experiences? Any chance to have sex in public? (or semi-public area ???)

      Thank you!

Has anyone heard about Cherry Lane nudist resort in Michigan?
We heard there is a lot of swinging activity going on there.

If you have been there, please share your experience or confirm if swinging takes place or not.
We would like to visit this weekend, but want to make sure of what to expect.

Interesting perspective here, a Huffington Post story of a monogamous lesbian goes by herself to a swingers resort. It's a good article, what she describes experiencing will sound very familiar.
