Well we are taking the plunge. There is a camping trip for swingers in a few weeks and we have signed up for it. To say that I am nervous is about the biggest understatement in the world. Hubby is cool as a cucumber (and walks around with a raging boner whenever the trip is mentioned). They are having 2 theme parties, a nude beach, games, and contests. Normally I would probably run screaming at the mere thought of participating in any of the above even if every was clothed. I'm not the most social person in the world and I am definitely not much of a partier/game player. I enjoy watching others and chatting outside of the mayhem. I told hubby that I am looking forward to fully exploring my voyeuristic side as well as watching all the women pay attention to him. I love how he can turn a girl to a puddle of goo just by smiling. Checkout girls LOVE him. Anyways, I am not completely certain whether I am ready to jump in head first unless there is a person/persons who I feel a spark with. I do NOT want my first time swinging to be with anyone that I am not totally in to. It is a three day long camping trip so I think I shall have plenty of time to decide. I have no idea what to wear, what the etiquette at Camp Orgy is, or whether I have to put a costume on to go to the parties. I know this is asking a lot but I really want this to be a great experience for both of us. Oh yeah, is there any type of personal hygiene suggestions for this type of venue? Do I have to make a choice between mosquito bites and ticks or not tasting like bug spray? Hubby is next to me chuckling over my worries. Anyways, I would love to hear about others experiences in this type of setting.

Cupie, this camping trip sounds like a blast! I'm actually in the midst of searching out the perfect campground for a family camping trip (let me know where all you swingers are camping out, so I'll know which one to NOT go to... ;) ), but it sounds like your trip will be just as memorable. I'm actually not much of a camper, so I don't have any suggestions for on-the-go hygiene, but I just wanted to jump in here and offer some moral support. :D

Hubby is cool as a cucumber (and walks around with a raging boner whenever the trip is mentioned).

OMG, that is so adorable. Men. God, how I love men. The way they constantly think about sex (with us) and unapologetically walk around sporting a boner as though it's the most normal thing in the world. And for them, I guess it is, but for us it's this odd phenomenon that we're just endlessly fascinated with.

Going off on a tangent here...

I think men have more of a child-like innocence about them than women do. For all our touchy-feely emotional ways, we tend to be the more serious of the two, the worriers, the dwellers on small details. Men just seem so much more in tune with their inner child. I love that innocence about them.

Back to business...

I think you guys will have a great time! Just remember that there is only ONE THING that you are required to do: have fun. It's your vacation, you paid for it...you don't owe anyone else anything. If you prefer to talk, talk. If you prefer to avoid the games, avoid them (I, personally, HATE stupid party games...I was never much of a joiner). If you and hubby want to spend some time alone, then do it. If you are uncomfortable being naked in front of others, or having sex in front of others, don't. Just focus on having fun, and you will!

Intuition is right on.

A couple of thoughts for you.

See if you can get in touch with someone who has been with this group before you go. They should be able to answer some of your questions.

Be prepared to get your heads together to rethink your rules while there. Before the fact you will be worrying about all sorts of outlandish potential problems. It will be different once you are in the midst of things.

I remember a bee sting at a very tender spot on one of our club camping outings. It limited me to giving oral only for several days. :-)

Make sure you let us know how things go once you get back.

Girl, I hope you have a great time. You and your wit have definetely been wonderful to have on this board, and I wish you all the best on your trip.

As far as the bug spray, there are several alternatives. If you have a licensed aromatherapist in your area, you can go and see if they can mix you up some massage oil with citronella in it, and maybe put a flavor oil in with it so that you taste like strawberries, apples, bananas etc. The citronella will keep the bugs away while the flavor and massage part of the oil gives extra fun for you and your partner. Most aromatherapists do not mind making special oils, but it can get a little high on the price side. Also, you really want to find a reputable one that is licensed. So many people out here claim to be and they really aren't.

Also, if you really want to go for the bug spray, try spraying your clothes and only the skin showing ie. legs neck and then you can keep a travel pack of aloe baby wipes handy to wipe with right before any play time to remove the bug spray taste. And the aloe in the wipes will help with any sunburn you may encounter. I have heard Skin so Soft by Avon helps keep the bugs at bay. And I do not think it tastes too much like chemical. Now this is only a rumor I heard I do not know if it works but you might can check and see if thats true. An Avon lady should be able to answer that for you. Personal hygeine for camping tips...again baby wipes are effective for freshening up when a shower is unavailable.

Again, I hope you have a great time, and we all look forward to hearing from you with lots of great stories when ya get back.

Camping would be a fun way to test the waters. Hanging out around the campfire, getting to know other couples, and slipping off to the tent to play alone or with new found friends......sounds like you'll have a ball ::P: And being near Superior, you obviously love the outdoors.

Do I have to make a choice between mosquito bites and ticks or not tasting like bug spray?

Pick up some Avon- Skin So Soft. Although it's not marketed as a bug deterrent, I've used it with decent success in Canada on some fly-in fishing trips. It comes in a spray on plastic bottle, smells good, and leaves your skin feeling great......perfect for your use ;)

Good luck,

Brett

I like the aromatherapy idea but not so much with the skin-so-soft, I can't stand anything that smells like perfume, gives me a headache. There will be group shower facilities  and I refuse to be a coward and hide in my tent with baby wipes. Normally when I go camping, I am used to getting filthy dirty and relying on a whore bath and the occasional head dunking under a faucet or stream. Needless to say, I don't see this being conducive to attracting anyone to my person. Sheesh, I am even fretting over the fact that my feet will be dirty from wearing sandles or sweaty from the heat and my hiking boots. Shit, guys have it easy they can look scrumdiliumptious even when wearing grungy clothes and covered with dust and sweat. I don't own sexy clothes, much less sexy camping clothes...I feel like I'm back in high school getting ready for a school dance and hoping that someone will ask me to dance. Would it be rude to read or go hiking? There is supposed to be some awesome geology in the area or perhaps there will be cows nearby that are in need of tipping. I'm going to go sit in the corner and foam at the mouth for a few minutes, then I'll be calm.

We went to a nudist camp that's swinger friendly over Memorial Day weekend, and it was a blast! We both love camping, and for us, it was the best of both worlds.

I'm not sure what camp you are going to- but I'll answer based on my limited experience. I'm also going to make the assumption that it is a nudist camp.

What to wear- during the day, most women walked around wearing a small wrap of some sort around their waists. Alot of folks walked around bare naked, but that takes a little getting used to. For your first time out, take a little wrap. If you get comfortable, you can always take it off.

For the parties, I have found that I have alot more fun if I get into the theme. Keep in mind that it is a sexualized version of said theme!

If you enjoy watching and chatting outside of the mayhem, that's fine. No one will drag you, kicking and screaming, out into the middle of things. :)

If you want to join in, that's great, and if you don't, that's great too!

Personal hygiene suggestions: It is considered common courtesy to carry a small towel to sit on if you are nude.

Also, at the camp we went to anyway, when there was a group gathering- such as a pot luck dinner, people wore clothing. Shorts and tops (though alot of the women went topless), sun dresses, etc. Sarongs and wraps seemed to be very popular.

Bug spray. I get skeeter bites on my ass for NO man. (Or woman :D )

There's a bug spray out there that smells good. It might be Cutter. Comes in a pump bottle versus a spray... I'll check with the Mister and see if he remembers what brand it is.

Camp orgy?? Don't know, never been part of that! (yet)

I'd assume it would be the basic swinger etiquette. Be respectful of others. Don't just join in without asking. I think I'd hang back a bit, and watch what others do.

Do whatever it is that makes YOU comfortable. You and your spouse are number one priority. Trust me, you won't be the only "watcher." And you may surprise yourself by WANTING to join in!

Hope I helped, and if I can answer any other questions for you, just let me know! Have fun, I wish we were going!!

It is advertised as a Swinger Camp out, and other than mentioning that the beach will be nudist it doesn't mention it being a nudist camp. It is taking place in southern wisconsin and is called the "Swinger Festival."

I do plan on dressing appropriately for the theme parties  I'll finally get to wear my black "hooker" boots that sit in my closet. Who'd a thought it would be on a camping trip? My main hope is to possibly meet some compatible people from our area and get a feel for what I like and don't. I have no idea what fantasies I truly want to play out and what I just want to keep as fantasy. So I think that watching others (I plan on doing LOTS of watching facelick ) will help me decide what I want for myself. Whatever happens, I look forward to camping and checking out the rock formations in the area and perhaps reading a book.

Thanks for all the feedback, it makes me feel better to know that I can just lay low if I want and do whatever I want.

 Yes and that scene played over and over in my mind while I was writing the post. It was the main reason for the title of the post but I had no idea how many people might have seen that movie. Plus the only musical instruments that I'll have access to is the skin flute

Holy Shit. I will NEVER get that piece out of my mind when going down. It's going to totally mess up my technique...oh well at least it isn't "Come on Eileen" or "Stroke Me."

How do I find out about swing camps in my area, near Austin Tx?

Shelly,

This one was advertised on the swinglifestyle.com website. It has a listing of all the events/clubs near your zip code. I suppose you could also do a search on Google or Yahoo as well.
