    Default Vaginal irritation after Intercourse

Hey there, I've been experiencing some vaginal irritation after every sexual encounter I've been having. It began several months ago after we first started swinging. I felt like I had a bad yeast infection but it wouldn't go away with over the counter meds. I finally went to my doctor and he confirmed a bacterial infection but also said I had an over abundance of yeast. I took the meds, infection went away. Then we played again, alone this time and used silicone based lube. The infection returned so I did the meds again. We played with our friends again a couple months ago and the same thing happened but we only had oral sex. I again take the meds, infection is gone. Just this past weekend we had a full swap with the same friends again, I'm already feeling a bit of irritation. No one has an std so I'm fairly certain it's not the issue. Has anyone else ever experienced something like this. Could it be something reacting with my body creating a pH imbalance? I'm frustrated and wanting to play more but dealing with this every time is to much. I get the same problem when my hubby and I go it alone and use lube. This Past Weekend We Played With Unlubricated Condoms. I am showering well after play. Any suggestions would help, I'd like to avoid this every time we play

This sounds like a medical question. I do know that bacterial infections tend to recur.

This is speculative, of course, but the recurrent infection after playing suggests recurring reinfection. The assertion that you had a "bacterial infection but an overabundance of yeast" defies logic. It sounds like you had a reinfection. Speak to your doc about getting a prescription for diflucan (fluconazole). The tablets are about $5 apiece. Try taking one an hour or so before you play the next time. See if it preempts the symptoms and consequent infection.

Simply as an aside, the oral-genital sex is an infection route for all sorts of things, and your play partners' mouths contain different flora than your spouse's.

Thank you all for the info, I didn't think about the oral-vaginal route as a possible cause. I may just be sensitive to others normal flors. I do have an rx for diflucan, I take it once a week but I'll try taking just before next time

Bear in mind that normal oral flora includes a host of facultative anaerobes. It could just as easily be one of them as it could be C. albicans.

Update: I've still been experiencing these same issues. They just come and go so I went to our new doctor and he confirmed tricomoniasis. So I'm getting treated as well as my hubby. The one thing I've learned... most people do not know when they've been infected so they are unaware that they gave it. It's super contagious but treatable so good news there. Just because someone tells you they don't have an STD doesnt mean they know for sure. Be safe, use condoms.

It's good to know that you learned what was going on. Now you will know how to deal with it.

Tricomoniasis producers a characteristic aroma. Did you not notice this?
