Condoms - what options are there for oral sex?

Recommended Posts

We haven't really seen people use any protection when it comes to oral sex but if you are interested in that option, there are the male condoms and dental dams. As for oral sex on a female and having protection, I'm at a loss for that area. Perhaps others can chime in with what they may have heard or possibly done for protection.

I've (at times) enjoyed flavored condoms for oral sex - Durex makes a delightful fruit flavors pack. I've also heard of bacon flavored condoms, but that's ewww to me.

MsDiscover doesn't like the favored condoms as the flavor wears of quickly and before that happens, the taste is too candy-like for her taste. However, she doesn't mind the taste of regular condoms so that is what she prefers when giving oral.

Our first couple of swings were pretty much spontaneous and I didn’t even think about protection but then I started making the guys wear condoms, even for oral. This was quite a switch because with the first guy, it was a complete swallow and the second guy, pulled out and then I went back and sucked some more. Some guys seem to think the condom was exciting, that a girl wanted to suck their dicks so much that she would do it while they wore a condom. But, it really wasn’t as enjoyable to me. You couldn’t feel the ridges, etc., didn’t taste as good, didn’t get the pre-cum flavor, etc., so now it is none for oral and I am able to do whatever passion moves me to do at the time.

I agree, that male view of using condoms sometimes comes to mind here too, how she wants to give oral so much, she uses a condom. Funny thing is the taste of dick and pre cum you mention are the main reasons for MsD to use them.

I’m the opposite. The pre cum is like a reward, an incentive, that initial flavor tells me I’m doing a good job and makes me work harder to get more.

I know that side too: luckily for me, my play partner thinks the same about oral as you do. And MsD loves to see her going down on me so everyone wins :) Being able to experience new things is one of the major turn-ons in the LS for us.

I've been to many hotel and house parties over the years and never seen or heard of anyone requiring condoms for oral. I wonder if it tends to be a regional thing.

Could be, but it is certainly not the norm in the LS here in the Netherlands too. That being said, we once saw it being done too in one of the very few club visits we did.

Outside the LS, it is also not the norm but it happens. A study in 2005 under young people (

Inside the LS, condoms (or dams) are rarely used for oral sex.

This has always been a curious topic for me. Why are people more concerned about getting an std through their penis/vagina contact than they are with their mouth? Isn't it all the same? Educate me please :)

Having just been given a preliminary diagnosis of Chlamydia, test results pending, with the symptoms mostly on my face I can say condoms have their limits. :( Don't know what the solution might be... wrap her in Saran Wrap???

Chlamydia can cause a throat or respiratory infection, but it wouldn't affect your face. It does not infect skin cells, just mucous membrane type cells.

You can get dental dams, which are latex sheets, or cut a condom. I don't know anyone personally, who uses them though.

Yeah, I just got reminded of that this week. Sore throat, spots on the inner lips, irritated eye membranes. Photos in the medical text show spotting on the eyelid membranes. Gonorrhea can have similar symptoms.

And most folks are going to find it a turn-off if a sheet of rubber is slapped down over their butt before receiving a tongue lashing.

We do not use condoms for oral, I absolutely hate the taste, no matter the flavor or the brand.

STI's can definitely be transmitted via oral sex. Oral sex with a condom for the female takes some practice and it's not as enjoyable. Oral sex is bareback for my husband/partner ONLY because of that.

Yes, it's all the same. We've just made what may be a deal-breaker and unpopular decision to not perform oral sex on others. There's not a safe enough way to do this and still keep it fun and pleasant. This is not to pass judgement on others who make a different decision - but safe sex pretty much leads. I'm, personally, not willing to live with the pressure of worrying about STIs/STDs.

When we have shared oral it has more often than not been covered, the taste of the condom is super easy to get used to, please try to not use spermicide condoms and sometimes you have to actually read the package to see if they have it added, lol. One important word of advice is do not ever let go of the base of the condom while deep throating that is a recipe for disaster. You will find that a lubed will condom make deep throating much much easier and no worries about CIM if that is not your thing. We both prefer "pearl necklaces" and the condom has never been a problem for that. She can pop the condom in her mouth and put it on with the 1st full shaft suck and stroke and many guys are surprised they didnt notice it sooner than they do.

I see that the majority of the posters insist on the use of condoms when they play, which is only prudent given the scary things out there.

What I haven't seen addressed is whether the use of condoms is commonplace while giving oral sex on both the male or female side. I've read about something called a dental dam (I believe that's what it was called) to provide some measure of protection while going down on a woman (my favorite pastime :facelick:). But in general, are condoms reserved for only penetration. What is the accepted etiquette as far as a male coming during oral sex?

Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks, gang.

Can someone explain to me why none here have ever seen a dental dam or condom used for oral sex in a swing club, but the same people use condoms for intercourse?

Lastly, can someone here explain to me why they don't wear a helmet and body armor when driving when it has been proven to save lives, and all race car drivers use them.

If a man is giving a woman oral sex can she get anything from him? I understand the chances for him is greater but can she get anything just from his mouth?

Excuse me if this has already been discussed to death, but reading the poll about reasons NOT to use condoms got me thinking about further statistics on condom use. As you may know, Hubby and I are very new at this...so new, we have not engaged in any sexual activity with other people. However, we have talked A LOT about the possibility of engaging soft/hard play with a single male or female, or potentially down the road with a couple. In our discussions, we have discussed whether we will demand the use of condoms, but at this time we're still unsure.

My question to those of you that use condoms, do you use them for oral, penetration, both, or not at all and what is your reason as to why you chose to use/not use them in that way? I'm asking because I know STD's can be passed both orally and through penetration, but it appears from that previous poll, that there are swingers out there (couples and singles) that use a condom for penetration, but not for oral. I would just really like to hear the reason's why in hopes to help us make our decision.

Thank you for taking time to respond and again, please forgive me if this has been discussed to death already.

Hello, welcome to a little poll and discussion about "principles vs the heat of the moment".

Are swingers very disciplined concerning principles like for example always using condoms? What happens to your principles when things actually happen: a party, a little drunk, sex everywhere...

The discussion should not be limited to condoms, but all broken principles and arrangements are the topic, e.g. only soft swap, no kissing, never in different rooms, always this, never that, and so on ...
