Fundamental Law 2,896 Posted November 30 This is the current Most gifted NY Times article. While focused on naturism, the fact that it is the current most gifted speaks to interest and some level of acceptance. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
PeterJ 957 Posted November 30 @Fundamental Law, i read this NYT story this morning at breakfast and thought of everyone here at the Swingers Board. As you have noted, it is interesting that it’s the most-gifted article currently on the site. It’s not as bad as most sites, but the Times has plenty of clickbait, and while i found the article enjoyable and informative I also gave it a high clickbait quotient. But i agree that it’s an encouraging sign that beyond whatever the titillation factor is involved for themselves, so many readers felt comfortable sharing an article on the subject of social nudity. (I don’t spend much time thinking about the "Naturist" vs. "Nudism" divide, but to me there seems to be an almost puritanical element in Naturism.) 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
njbm 2,885 Posted November 30 We once gave naturist friends a funny Halloween card. It showed a couple arriving bare assed naked at the door of a conventional house party. The hostess looks horrified as she opens the door. The naked couple says “ I thought the invitation said costumes optional.” They put it on their nudist resort cabin’s refrigerator. It was classic. Thank you for the article, FL. I think that there would be more nudists and swingers if they were “exposed” to it. But both hobbies are somewhat underground, along with BDSM, homosexuality, etc. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

The LeMonde version is about the exhibition, not the nude attendance. https://www.lemonde.fr/m-le-mag/article/2024/08/31/le-naturisme-une-epopee-dans-le-plus-simple-appareil-en-exposition-a-marseille_6300469_4500055.html Vive La Difference!!! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
bbarnsworth 2,648 Posted November 30 Everyone; an easy way to get around the click-bait type crap on news type websites these days is to view the article in "reader view" or "immersive reader". This works in Firefox and Edge by pressing F9. Chrome has such a mode too, but I don't use Chrome as it's basically spyware. This mode eliminates the vast majority of the click bait crap and makes articles readable again. Quote Share this post Link to post

And for us who are older it offers easily adjustable font size. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Half our vanilla friends and family think it's nuts and the other half are like "we'd love to go with you some time". 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

We might have chosen "reveal" (pardon the pun, etc. ). Casual/holiday nudity has become fairly mainstream. What we hear in response mirrors your experience: it's a conversation stopper/switcher for some and a "tell us more, and can you recommend destination/travel agent" for others. As mentioned in other threads, we will invite vanillas that we know well to join us in the hot tub. About 1/3 accept, and are tentative the first time. Interestingly, when they are next in our home, it's sort of fun to see just how quickly they will hint at "is the hot tub open?" 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Lol true. It feels like a confession bc sometimes it's followed by an interrogation! When we started the nude beach thing it was the 90s. We were young and just dating. We let it slip among a group of friends that we were going to Gunnison Beach (NJ's only sanctioned nude beach) the next day and were promptly the butt of many jokes. But at the end of the night one of the other couples quietly asked if they could tag along. Of course we said Yes! Edited Tuesday at 02:38 PM by hunterdonNJcpl 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

hunterdonNJcpl 1,408 Posted 12 hours ago @Numex - do you think your friends gossip about you behind your back? We're pretty sure ours do. Learning a couple in your friends circle are swingers is hot tea among vanillas. Quote Share this post Link to post
