We seem to be running into a lot of couples lately that are, as they say, "herb friendly" or "420 friendly". This is a real turn off for us, and we were wondering just how common this is so we're creating a poll. We figure the polls are anonymous, and would think that for obvious reasons, would work better than just asking for replies.

Okay, I know I'm getting old, but do you mean illegal drugs? As i pot smokers, or is there something else that I have not yet been exposed to and hope not to ever be?

Either way, it's a turn off. At least for me, I am not really interested in that lifestyle and don't really see how users of such drugs would fit into my little world.

Like most musicians these days I gave up playing with illegal toys YEARS ago, hell I don't even drink beer anymore (15 years for that). I really don't care what anyone else does unless they go overboard and interfere with the way I conduct myself.

Yes, we were refering to pot smokers, but any other illegal drugs are a turn off for us too.

I myself am herb friendly, however I do not partake of it anymore due to the munchies that help my ass spread even more than nature intended. I have a very good friend who has smoked pot for years. The only rules I have about it is simply 1) not in my car 2) not in my house and 3) not in front of my kids. If she wants to smoke... she get it out of her car and smokes in the back yard after the kids go to bed. Personally I think pot should be leagalized and then have the hell taxed out of it. But that is another discussion

Don't do it...last time, after about a 15 year pause, it just put us to sleep. (The stuff these days is a bit out there. )

But, really, what's the big? As long is its not to do with needles who really cares? Come to think, seen a lot more bad drunks.

For those of us that grew up in the 60's and watched our dearest friends crash and burn (pot, acid, meth), not to mention our children's struggles with even more potent and life devastating addictives, it's not a turn on. That includes alcohol at parties. Drunks and others that are high are just too fucking unpredictable to be around.

I will 86 anyone who uses drugs at one of my parties and I will sternly warn the heavy drinkers to leave and not drink so much at the next party. (who wants to fuck a drunk? or someone who is high from something other than the sexual excitement?)

And believe me, I'm not a prude when it comes to drinking, but the drug thing just takes me way down.

i like smoking cannabis, my life has not gone to hell. the sexual experiences while sharing a bottle of wine and a joint with a few friends, were indeed sublime.

being drunk and out of it is never cool. using drugs does not automatically make you a 'burn out' or 'burn out to be'. i'd say its one of these situations where if you are uncomfortable, be glad they listed it. if you are comfortable and enjoy, then great. if the other people insist on it, then avoid them if you don't like it.

i don't see the difference between this and, say, anal sex, or S&M. to each their own.

i don't understand the point of this thread? it seems the main purpose was to say, as in analogy, ANAL SEX, that is DISGUSTING, I HATE ANAL SEX. fine, good for you. live and let live.

I voted 420 friendly.

I have no problem at all with it... UNLESS (big unless ;) ), someone I'm with is smoking a ton of weed and gets major cotton mouth. Cotton mouth is not only bothersome to the individual that has it, but also to those people that are getting intimate with someone with cotton mouth. Cotton mouth= Really, really bad breath.

Also, weed tends to give people the munchies, and for some reason... Doritos are a favorite snack when you have the munchies. Doritos= HORRID, nasty, bad breath.

In conclusion, as long as someone smokes in moderation and keeps their mouth fresh, I have no problem with it.

I am not sure what to vote. I could do any of those things really. It had been years since the last time I had gotten high. Last summer, at a Greatful Dead concert (how cliche) I got high, and I had a great time with Mr. Indy. If the situation were right, I could get high again.

Do I care if people I am with get high? Again, It depends on the situation. Just like drinking. I tend to drink a bit occassionally. (like on my birthday) I don't drink much before playing, and I prefer our playmates to keep it at a minimum too. It bothers me when you aren't sober enough to play, or that someone would have to be out of it to play.

I don't mind herb as long as it's in moderation. It can help people relax if they're a little nervous.Same with alcohol. There is nothing more frustrating than to have a playmate that is too lit to perform.

Pretty common in the Seattle/Vancouver area that's for sure!

 Never saw that back in Texas.

I don't know if I'm put off by it really. Just grateful for the

disclosure. That sure prevents alot of awkwardness after

we've all had our fun. I wouldn't plan on driving home late

at night with that "herby" smell on me. Especially a weekend night!

I'm wondering how others might feel if they were to find out

after the fact...Would you keep playing with them or would the

drugs (however organic) be a deal breaker? If you were

an abstainer and didn't mind would you ask them not to light up

when you were around?

Hmmmmmm...

To each thier own...I have no problem with smoke as long as a person is responsible and not over board with it...I am 45 and I am a weekend warrior as far as "420" go's. I see it the same as someone having a Grey Goose Martini after work or before dinner, as long as one is "responsible".

I'm herb friendly ... but not with the person I'm having sex with.

Since both of us are non smokers I would have to say "No thanks!".

I know this limits our choices to non smokers but I prefer the scent of the human body not the smell of an ashtray.

Our only run in with "mary-ju-whana" (m'kay) as a couple (both did it at a different point in our lives) was after we'd had far too much to drink. So, for us, nasty-drunk = 420-friendly.

Sober, we'd never consider hitting the gonge.

Obviously, what someone chooses is their business. We just prefer not to be a part of it. Our only issues with it are:

1. Don't be so high/drunk/gassy that you're no fun to be around.

2. Don't bring it to our home.

3. Don't bring it to our club.

smoking cannabis when you're already drunk is a surefire way to throw up. it is a shame that is most peoples introduction, at parties, after too much to drink. it is also a shame that people tend to think of cannabis as 'one thing' when there are many different varieties, some wake you up, some make you sleepy, some make your body tingle...

anyway, to each their own. :)

It seems that most of the people we know use pot. We don't but we are ok with others that do as long as they don't do it around us. Our friends respect that and we have no problems with them about it.

We do not like profiles that let the world know that they are big on 420, screen names with 420 or making it known that they are druggies.

Even though most of our friends smoke pot not a one of them have ANYTHING in their profiles about it. They seem to have no need to advertise it.

I am a weekend warrior as well with herb, I usually do not smoke before sex because it takes me a lot longer to cum, "some times that can be good" :) If I am in the mood for a marathon session, as well as the lady, smoking before can be a very good thing. :fun:

We are both against it, seen too much bad stuff I guess. We prefer our friends and play mates to be themselves, we won't play with someone who is drunk or has to be drunk to play either. Also I (female) have major breathing issues around most smoke.

We once rejected a couple (on an add site) because they mentioned smoking pot in their profile, and they soon after removed it.

We don't have a problem with it, but at the same time we don't want to be associated with it. Hell we arn't even thrilled with smokers. Its just part of a life style we don't enjoy.

Maybe you should re-phraise the question. Here are a couple of things I've learned about "herb" over the past 30 years.

1.) It knocks my dick into the earth....forget sex. I get hard but can't cum.

2.) Probably good for women....I've seen to many get horny as hell on it. facelick

In our relationship.....no herb. :D

Well I was a child of the 70's with a older brother in college... so lets say I know my way around...to me it is like anything else..you can take it all to the extreme..drinking, eating, sex..you name it can all be taken down the merry road of uncool...it is something I do rarely..maybe once a month if that...Mr. Midnite does enjoy he effects it has on me...number one nothing hurts...a big plus since I have a bad back...even if I drink a few everything still hurts...

We both grew up around sloppy falling down drunks...so to us, we are so turned off by anyone drinking to what we think is excess, even though they and most around us don't think so...and they all think everyone is good...

I have never had the throwing up factor with drinking...and I have been to some wild places....it might be just the effect of too much drinking all together and you might have barfed anyway..since I don't drink that heavy it might have been why I never have...

It has its good uses, a lot more good uses then beer IMHO...and I know a lot of people who have been around it for years and years, more then I have been walking this earth...and they have never burned out, ended up shooting up or living in a gutter...

If you ever once, just once watched the effect it had on a chemo patient...you would be forever in debt to that little herb...

Probably catch hell for this but ... well we are carefull about smoking dope because we never know what's in it ... but yes I do enjoy that certain "high/mellow feeling" and for me ... yup makes me horny. But we do not buy the stuff and only smoke the stuff that belongs to a friend. or we know where it came from.

Our friend grows the stuff and occasionally we partake in it, when I say occasionally it is usually during the summer once or twice a week. All other months our life becomes very hectic. When my husband and I were younger is was a "great HIGH" smoking dope and then screwing. Now when we smoke the stuff it is as a group, one joint one or two tokes and thats it for me.

We voted it as a big turn off. We feel that if you need something to alter you mind set and being with us is not enough for you than there are others out there who are. For us a healthy mind and body is important. It means your going to be safe enough to not let harm come to yourself or those in your surroundings. If you want to do it go ahead, we promise to look in another direction.

Who would even want to ask for more?

From my experiences in my Hippie days, I'd say the worst thing about pot is the need to smoke it. I think it leads to smoking cigarettes. If it were legal, folks wouldn't have to mess up their lungs to use it. Because it's illegal, it's too expensive to make Alice B. Toklas Brownies.

In Cashmir, in 1971, dynamite hashish cost fifty pisa per gram. Ten Rupees (about a dollar if memory serves), would buy a big chunk which could be cooked into all sorts of things and eaten. The high took longer to "come on" but also stayed longer when it did.

It could get pretty intense if one were impatient. "Hey, Ali! Gimmie me another of them thangs. (I'm so hungry!) They taste great and the first one didn't work!"

There was a lot of confections in the bakeries, even a candy made from honey, ground nuts and hashish. No cough, but still off.

I hate smoking pot! It makes me cough for days. But is surely is a wild ride to fuck a woman who is similarly high!

as someone who apparently wants to "advertise"...

Reading some of these posts, I have to say that I am surprised at how many people still have that Nancy Reagan induced mentality. However I do notice that the preferences are generational, and those who think it's a turnoff obviously have a generalized attitude about "druggies" and want to lump all drug users into the same big pot... :nono: no pun intended. BTW... I would be curious to take a poll on how many of these of these completely "sober" people are taking Paxil, Xanax or Prozac? (or any of the other designer "legal" drugs available), or drinking teas or etc., etc., to calm their nerves.

As a child of the 70's many of the people of my generation are regular smokers, and there isn't nearly this much attitude about it among those of my friends who don't even smoke. And there is an etiquette... I would never bring it to a party or meeting or whatever without discussing it first. And just to add... I cannot stand cigarettes any more. The smell of good weed burning is potpourri to my nose, but close me in a room with a stinky cigarette or cigar and I'm coughing, wheezing and my eyes are burning. All smoke is not created equal. Cigar and cigarette smoking is not allowed in our home.

As for the people who say they wouldn't even think {gasp!} of getting it on with people who smoke (as if we care?)... no worries, the feeling is mutual for those of us do. That's why it's in my sig--if ya don't like it, don't come a knockin'. It's unfortunate and a bit sad to me that someone is so self-conscious or ashamed (or desperate) that they would change their "appearance" (sig, name, profile, etc.) or otherwise change who they are in order to get laid. I don't see that as applaudable.

Sweet, Mother Mary (as I call it) is mood-boosting, reality-enhancing, excellent for sparking the imagination and creativity, and sensitizes the body oh, so much more. (And about a million other things...)

Cheers to you Tempest, I agree with you! Cigarettes and cigars are much worse than a little "pot". Potpourri is a great way to discribe the wonderful smell of good "KGB". :fun:

I am a product of the 70's and I am a weekend warrior; so to speak regarding "420", and I am a hard working individual that pays my taxes etc. and I think people get a little to up tight about "420", while they are taking "prozac, alcohal or what ever", there are much worse things in the world that should get more attention than a little "420". :)

I also cannot due to random tests at work. Although that doesn't bother me becuase I dont like to do it anyway. Tried it a few times in college. The first time was fun, after that I always just got sleepy.

As for others doing it, I don't like to be around it because I dont like the smell and despite what others say, the smell DOES stick around in furniture and clothes.

So, all in all, I vote for NO.

As a couple, we are both friendly, but with the start of grad school, I haven't been anywhere near MJ in quite a while.

When it comes to bedroom activities, it affects us pretty differently though.

I can get pretty horny when I'm high, and as some others have said, it REALLY enhances the wonderful sensations of sex (making them that much more wonderful). But it takes me a lot longer to have an orgasm.

For her, though, she usually gets over-sensative, and does't want anyone touching her too much or caressing. A lot of touching just ends up making her really tense (which is usually the opposite of what you are trying to achieve when you smoke)

I wouldn't want to be high every time (or even most times) that I had sex, it just makes for a very different experience. I like variety. I think that's why a lot of people get into swinging, because they want new experiences and enjoy the variety.

What concerns me is that it seems some people equate "drug use" (or doing anything that is illegal) with "low moral fiber" :-) I've met some pretty immoral people who swore that pot was aweful and would never touch it. And I've met some kind and successful (and otherwise law-abiding) folks who smoked pot while still leading responsible lives. It is not necesarily immoral to break a law that you feel is unjust. The US (to its credit) has a rich history of that sort of thing.

VegasLee's post made me very happy (thank you for speaking up) It is one thing to ask someone not to take part in illegal activities in your presence or in your home. (That just falls under the broad mutual-respect category) but it seems a mistake to make a judgement on someone's character simply because they admit that they smoke pot occasionally.

And ya know, if someone is over the edge with their drug use, you'll probably know right away whether or not they tell you right out. They are usually pre-occupied, disengaged and/or somewhat boring. I know a few drunks that fit the mold. It really chaps my hide when someone claims they are drug free and then reaches for a beer... or a LATTE`.

The point is that you should think critically about what exactly you are objecting to, and appreciate people who communicate openly about their lives. They are most likely to welcome open and honest communication from you as well, and you can reach some common ground...and move on to the important stuff... like who can get naked the fastest. :D

(if I knew how to make a soapbox icon, I would... then I would step off it and light it on fire... cause fires are romantic and great for setting the mood)

As a couple who have never done an illegal drug in our entire lives, I'm gonna have to go with "turn off." Living in Washington state for a couple of years only amplified that feeling. Seemed like about 90% of the populace in the King County/Snohomish County areas were either into pot, coke, ecstacy, some other drug, or a combination of drugs.

I'm not gonna tell people not to do drugs. We've all seen enough "Don't do drugs" ads to know that we shouldn't do them. But I am gonna say that pot does bad things to you, and you're lying to yourself if you think otherwise.

Drugs are a turn off. Drunks are a turn off. High people are a turn off. Yes, we drink occassionally, but not when we swing. We find it much more enjoyable to be fully cognative when we're engaging in "relations", not to mention considerate to those we're with. Who wants to play with someone who's stumbling all over themselves, is 'lost in space', is dazed and confused (and half asleep), and/or is a giggle-factory?

I was just about to post a thread asking if D/D applied to marijuana in most instances. I'm rather ignorant of how things operate elsewhere, but people in AK on a whole really don't give a damn if you smoke.

I smoke frequently but do not drink often at all. I have much more control over my judgment, my thought processes, and my body than I do with alcohol in my system. Hell, I'm far more lucid when high than I am while sober and I'm not talking lucid in the "stoner philosophy" sense. People have told me as much. I become more frank and can organize my thoughts into a focused effort instead of attempting to herd mental cats. The key is moderation.

Personally I feel pot is demonized far beyond what it deserves. Will I smoke with anyone under 21? No. Will I force it on anyone? No. Will I smoke around anyone that is uncomfortable with it? No. Do I think it should be legalized and taxed? Yes. Are there people out there that don't know when to say when? Of course, but this applies to every walk of life including sex. They ruin it for many people by making an ass of themselves.

I hold down a steady job that is little more than a litany of memory games (my boss says the place is going to go to shit when I leave). I contribute to society. I have never been arrested. I am not a violent or hateful man. I am not a thief. I am not shady. I am not lazy. I do not alienate my family. I also smoke marijuana.

Even my mother feels the same way and she's seen more horrors in her line of work than most people will ever experience in their entire lifetimes. She used to be shouldered with the responsibility of grief counseling and getting consent from the families of the recently deceased for organ and tissue harvesting. She has also worked as a forensic investigator with the state M.E.'s office.

I'll let her own words speak for themselves. "I have never seen a child beaten, a woman raped, or someone wrapped around a telephone pole due to marijuana."

I'm not gonna tell people not to do drugs. We've all seen enough "Don't do drugs" ads to know that we shouldn't do them. But I am gonna say that pot does bad things to you, and you're lying to yourself if you think otherwise.

I'm not starting a pissing contest here, but the "Just Say No"-style campaigns put out by the government are absolutely rife with misinformation and made up statistics. More than a few well respected medical organizations and large studies agree. The same people will agree that alcohol consumption isn't a healthy activity to truly indulge in, yet it's advertised and sold legally across the nation.

As someone who can count on one hand how many times I have smoked pot since our kids were born, I am an unlikely defender of the herb. Because I really don't have a vested interest one way or another, this is the first time I have spoken out about this (to more than just friends). I guess I am just tired of misinformation and fear of the unknown. Hmmmmm…that sounds all too familiar...what other hobby is plagued by that???

I have smoked it plenty of times to know the effects, and certainly few enough to have a clear head about the consequences of pot smoking. This guys opinion: alcohol is WAY more detrimental than pot. If you think the reason it is illegal is because it is more harmful than alcohol, you may want to research that.

We drink socially and get stoned socially...which is to say, we drink a few times a month, and get stoned a few times a DECADE. They are both fun in moderation.

If someone uses the argument that “sure, it may be better for you than ___ (insert a vice that is legal) but the fact is that it IS illegal”, just look towards not driving the speed limit, sodomy, swinging in some states, spiting on the sidewalk, "doggy style" sex…you get the point. That list will probably contradict 99.9% of those who use that argument.

Just one guy’s opinion. To each there own.

Well, we're actually going to answer the poll because our answer isn't really there ....quite.... but we suppose these next comments sort of will express our stand on it, but oh well, we don't mind telling poeple how we feel about that.

If someone wants to do it... that's their business... we don't hold against anyone, however there are limits to us on what is acceptable. Such as, anything that gets crushed up, cut up, rocked up, or liquified before being injested in whatever way is an unacceptable substance.

We don't care if someone smokes it up a bit BEFORE we meet up. That's fine, but we don't want to be around it at the time. We think that should have been on the poll. :-)

Because while we don't care if someone wants to hit a few first, we aren't herb friendly in that we don't do it or want it around us, but we don't care if the one(s) we play with does it, we aren't turned off by it, it DOES bother us to have around us... and if someone hasn't cleaned the smell off themselves, THAT IS A TURNOFF FOR US.

Anyway, that's our opinion on it.

I don't, but I tend to be the main receipient of her "flow" so it's one of those things I have no problem with if someone else is doing it. I've never used drugs in my life so I can't really give any experience of smoking on my own and my feelings over drug use have ebbed and flowed through the years. I think I'm more leanient with the herb than with anything else so if she lights up every now and again I'm cool with it.

I do not mind in general terms if a person is "herbal" but I will not tolerate anyone using "herb" around me. Neither my partner or I need to involve ourselves with the possibility of being caught with the substance by being with people who have it. With a background in law, I know better than to be around "herb" and with my partner working towards a future in law enforcement, he doesn't need that sort of drama or reputation either. So while we are both fine with people using "herb" in general, we do not want them to use around us.

Coming of age in the 80's, I was exposed to ALL different illegal substances, pot included.

For some reason, as tame as it is considered by most everyone, it effects me horribly. My 5 or 6 try's have all resulted in a kind of frozen state of total paranoia/panic that seems to drag on for hours. Basically lying flat on my back, face totally numb, SURE that a fire will start or a maniac will burst into the house any second and I can't MOVE to stop it! It's horrible and the idea of being at a club or party with numerous people and finding myself in that state sounds insane........I would probably lay ompletely frozen sure I was being gang-raped! WOULDN'T work for me. But truthfully other things I have tried that are considered more dangerous and more illegal don't render me anywhere as near bad off. But that is just me

My husband will indulge once in a great while and seems to have a great time with it, none of the crazy panic I do. I guess probably not as much fun for him tho, when I was a paralyzed corpse..............or now that I won't try it again

As far as other people, I don't have any personal or moral issues with it at all. The main thing for me is it is a weird feeling, like being the only sober person at a party of drunks. Like everyone gets an inside joke that I don't get!

So the only real reason I would say I prefer couples who dont smoke, is just that. It puts everyone else in a happy silly place where I can't follow and I can end up getting irritated and impatient with some of the hi-jinks that it seems to bring out in most people, except freaks like me!

I work in the arts and pot is, for many, part and parcel of that scene.Personally, I've used it, I've enjoyed it and will most likely use it again.

That being said, for me, pot+sex= major frustration. While it might make me extremely horny it dulls sensation and, in doing so, makes it very hard for me to have an orgasm.

How would you feel about a profile that says 420 friendly? (Looking for those that are ok, and against it)

Reason we are asking, we are a 420 friendly couple that enjoys it every now and then. We also find it to be mind blowing during sex with another couple. We don't want to post it in our profile because it's not a requirement, but we will give preference to those who are. But at the same time don't want to lose potential playmates that may think otherwise.

I finally learned the origin of the 420-friendly that you see in so many on-line profiles. I had known what it implied; that they like to smoke weed. But why the number 420. Why not 260 or 289 or 999? Well, it seems it is a calender date -- April 20, National Pot Smoking Day. Ha, ha, ha, ha. I feel so out-of-touch with popular culture. I am really alone in this? Tell the truth. Did you know that 420 was a calender date?

Post Script: Before you start to dispute this fact, I'll tell you right now, I did not get it from Wikipedia. I heard it on NPR so it has to be right.

I recently archived an eleven year old thread about whether or not swinging and marijuana mix. Things are certainly much different today than they were in 2004, so I'm thinking a new thread about our current reality might be interesting.

This thread will start out a bit U.S. centric, so my apologies to the international audience if this is a bit of a bore. However, your insight, experiences and thoughts are more than welcome. Just no picking on us puritans.

Marijuana use has been legalized in a few states, and it appears that if things continue, at some point every state will legalize the weed at some level.

So, if/when pot is legal in your state, how will you handle the mixing of swinging and pot? Does legalization change your boundaries about what is and isn't acceptable as far as bringing these two things together?

I like to use poppers during group sex. I consider this a "toy" of sorts. I really know nothing about them. I use Rush. Does anyone have any information on this? I'm pretty sparing with it. Seems like it can't be good to use constantly. Thanks all.
