Swinging Advice - What to Wear for Men

I have to ask a question. We discussed clothing before. Was a lot of different opinions. I need a favor. Can y'all give me pictures of what you guys wear? I'm not looking to copy but to get ideas of what works for y'all. When we go shopping for my husband, we end up confused. He wants to dress to impress the ladies. Thanks y'all.

A few thoughts from Mr. Swingularity (and Mrs. Swingularity has always stood and watched in awe at Mr. Swingularity's ablity to shop fearlessly for himself and her).

Before reading the suggestions below, please know YMMV and these are IMHO and you should BE YOURSELF, not try to be someone else.

1) Shoes. These are your foundation. No sneakers. No work shoes. Nothing you walk the dog or mow the grass in. They should be leather. On trend slip-ons, chukka's, ankle boots, and the like are a start.

2) Socks. They need to have been purchased sometime in the last 2 years. Don't be afraid of colors. Black shoes, black/grey/navy base socks. Brown shoes brown, tan, earth tone socks.

3) Belt. Should RELATE to the shoe color. Leather. I like wider belts on even dressish pants, as well as jeans, as they don't pinch or allow pant to bunch above or below.

4) Underwear. Bought within last year. Don't be afraid to go with bold colors and patterns. But black is a sure bet. I like the cotton blend with some stretch fabric boxer briefs that are low on fabric volume. A "boy short" cut. Looks flattering when I'm relaxed, and really nice as arousal finds me.

5) Pants. Lots of options here. One non option: PLEATS. Never, never, never on pleats. They add unflattering volume, and contrary to what "less fit/slender" guys think, they DO NOT make you look slimmer. They make you look NOT slimmer. FLAT FRONT PANTS ONLY. Dress jeans can be really great. Casual chic dress slacks that aren't business focused are everywhere today, and look great. Dress flat front Khaki's in non-tan colors are all around and look great. A slack with some pattern that is subtle can be great. I love blacks and shades of grey, but have red, mauve, dark brown, loden, etc. Thin dress cords in Fall look super. And did I say NO CUFFS? No? I am now. NO CUFFS. Buy the pants for your fit now, not what you hope to fit after losing that 10 or 20 that you're about to lose.

6) Shirts: lots of options here. Don't like polos, personally. Sorry guys, but dress polos are for the country club golf outing. "Club" and casual dress shirts are all around. I prefer non button down collars and collar stays. I think they look, in general, more aesthetically "flowy". Another look that is nice is a stretch t-shirt, black, under a long sleeve knit. Adds nice layering, and can hide a few extra lbs. The t-shirt is like a Spanxs effect.

7) If it's jacket weather a nice unstructured blazer, and there are tons of them, is a nice touch to start the night in. Says something about the man that is akin to "I care about my appearance", so I must be a "care about my partner and my lovemaking" kind of guy. The fit is key here, gents. So many guys have a jacket that's a size or more too big, trying to "hide something". It backfires. Get the perfect fit and drape, and you'll look sleeker. I have one blazer I love: it's a leather blazer in black that just smokes the night. Like a dress jacket meets bad boy club hopper.

? Have a nice watch? They speak volumes.

Finishing touches: Your feet are self pedicured. Your fingernails are clean, clipped close, and looking good. You are always shower fresh and not heavily fragranced. And your oral hygiene (that means floss and tongue scraper) is impeccable.

You'll look good, feel confident, and be the best you can be...and get noticed.

What happens when you open your mouth...that's up to you!

Well, this is all fairly brief, YMMV, IMHO, and feel free to think "Dude...wtf?!?!" These basic principles have been in place for me since about my mid-to-late 30's, and refined over the years. If the feedback my wife gets about my attire is anything to go on, the ladies notice.

I'd be happy to hear any tips or thoughts on the whole "male attire" issue from others. I'm always looking for ideas!

Well, it's off to give my wife a minty fresh kiss...

You're welcome. I buy from just about everywhere. Outlet malls (I love Hugo Boss, john Vavartos, and Sacks off 5th for all kinds of discounted high end brands). Banana Republic also good. Online discounters you have to join: Hautelook, MyHabit (Amazon owned), & Gilt. Zappo's for shoes. Also Marshall's & TJ Maxx for good discounts, but you have to pick through and the cool stuff levels fluctuate. Boutiques can be good. I head for the sale racks.

I shop like a little old lady, and am damn proud of it!

swingularity made a great post that covers all the bases.

I wear nice jeans that I think fit right for the occasion, and that's about the only time I ever wear those jeans, they are not just the best of my "regular jeans". With those, a nice button down shirt, leather shoes that have some style, socks that match in all ways :), and a nice belt. Generally, I think belts are about the most boring thing in a guy's closet, so I like them to have a little flash with medallions or something but not over done. I also usually wear a nice watch even though I never wear a watch anymore for anything else. I never wear a jacket unless it's really cold just because I don't want to have to mess with it. If it's cool, I will usually wear a long sleeved shirt open over a nice solid color t-shirt.

Here's my little secret on trying to pick out shirts. I had one that I sadly outgrew that had a really unusual texture to it, haven't been able to find one exactly like it since then. The girls loved that shirt for some reason, I had like four different ones tell me how much they liked it while rubbing it on the dance floor or wherever. Anything that gets her rubbing on me, even if it's just the shirt, I'm there :)

Oh my gosh! We got a weekend date with a couple in 2 weeks! This is a couple we've both wanted and have a good connection with but never played with. Lots of prep to do. This is so cool and my husband is ecstatic. This is so awesome, my husband just wrote them and they said yes! We're gonna be on nerves.

Ok would like some thoughts on the events last night. We got a last minute invite to a party. We already have some of the clothes that's been mentioned. I dressed in a nice blouse with a blue jean skirt with a sexy pair of panties. My husband wore a white button down shirt with nice dress slacks and a pair of leather shoes. He looked great. Now, the pitfall. He was overdressed by far. Everyone showed up casually. All men wore jeans. The newer type that kids like that's faded and have holes. So, you can guess what this does to a guy that feels overdressed. Totally uncomfortable for my husband. He looked nice guys. Very nice. Of course, when your comfort level falls, so goes the confidence. He was more confident this time than times in the past, but, still can't gain the attention of the ladies. From what I witness, I don't feel it's all his fault. It's the women. They don't know him, but, are in their comfort zone with the other men they have known for possibly years. I wanna call it a clique but then again it seems its not. My husband is great in many ways. He is mechanically inclined beyond belief. when he was 4 years old, he found it funner to take his toys apart than play with them. but, human interaction he lacks skill. He has read some of the recommended books but still lacks the ability to convert that into real interactions. Last night we went with intention of no play. And very little play happened at that party. But, we were after the outcome of meeting people. And we did do that. Now whether the first impression will be their later or not, I have no idea. I suppose time will tell. We have struggled getting invites to parties. Most parties are invite only and the majority we are excluded from. The saga continues...

Ok question from my husband. Clean shaven or mustache and goatee? He wants to know what attracts better? He knows this can be a matter of opinion. Thanks everyone.

REALLY depends on the man. Some guys look great in a mustache and goatee some don't. I can tell you, when I had that combination, I looked awful, but that was me.

It is a matter of opinion, but the one that matters is yours. What do you like?

Seriously, I'm a little concerned that he's looking to attract other women, not because it's wrong, but because worrying about what anonymous women will be attracted to is a thing that will read wrong and not attract women. So, his facial hair should reflect what you like, not in the "honey, anything you want is fine," way, but after you've carefully thought about what you think looks best.

Have never tried a moisturizer on his beard. He changed his mind on shaving it. Says the ladies will just have to accept it. We are still struggling with getting dates to go out with couples. My husband just does bit like clubs. He prefers one on one with couples so a friendship can form. So far we get a lot of talk and meet.

Moisturizer won't stop a thick beard. I have a thick beard started growing it in the 8th grade. It is to much for most women to take so I shave a lot. In the army I had to shave twice a day. I have way to much testosterone.

I need all the fashion help one man can get. I love polo shirts and hate tee shirts... Other than not liking to shop for myself... other than a couple times a year I would just rather be naked. My work attire is dockers and polos. I am so lucky to be married.

Do you bother wearing underwear anymore? Or do people view it as pointless? If you do then do you wear it all the time, or special occasions, or what? What type do you wear?

I always wear a bra, usually padded t-shirt or plunge. But I haven't worn underwear on my bottom half since I left school.

So in looking at the clubs and their code on dress attire, I notice that pretty much all of them stipulate "no work clothes." I am kind of assuming they mostly mean "don't come in the clothes that you go out and do construction in" or just not to wear something that is too conservative and not sexy. But I actually kind of like the idea of the whole naughty secretary look and its something I could easily do with the wardrobe I have. I mean I would spice it up a bit obviously, but I know there is a huge preference out there for the naughty secretary thing.

So my question is, if these are technically office clothes but they are done in a really sexy way, could that still pose a problem? Does this kind of thing fall more under a costumed theme night?

Does anyone think a club would turn this kind of thing down?

We'll be attending our first swinger event in the near future. Now the first time we go, we'll have no expectations, other than the hope someone opens up and talks to us and/or accepts us talking to them just to socialize (maybe more).

Now on a daily basis, I wear Joe Boxer thongs. I've been wearing them for 10-15 years. I LOVE them! No wedgies/bunching, holds me firmly in place so my head doesn't get irritated, etc.

Anyway, I've read that men wearing thongs at swinger events can be a little odd if a 6-pack and cherry tomato ass cheeks don't accompany the thong.

But what is reality when it comes to clothes in the first place. Do people walk around fully clothed or naked...or is there some use in wearing undies? What is generally the most attractive...boxers, boxer briefs, etc.?

      Thanks!

The women have had their say on what they think looks sexy on a man. I would like men's opinion on what looks sexy on a woman?

What do you hate to see on women?

      Blessings
