Ladies: The topic of eyelashes!

Recommended Posts

After wearing glasses for 100% of my waking hours for 23 years, I now wear contact lenses (RGPs, no less) for at least 50-75% of the time I'm awake now. In fact, I've gone through a bit of an "identity crisis" because I no longer like the way I look with glasses but I'm not used to how I look with contact lenses either!

Anyway, along with the bane of terrible eyesight, I was also cursed with sparse, short eyelashes. :( Mascara just doesn't do much for my poor little eyelashes. I had heard of those applications like Latisse to help your eyelashes naturally grow longer and thicker but I'm not sure I believe if they work.

Recently, I found out there are such things as eyelash extensions! But they are expensive due to the initial cost and upkeep. I talked to Mr. Sun about it but he kept assuring me that I didn't need such things. Well, I'm pretty determined to see what I look like with longer eyelashes so I looked up a tutorial on apply false eyelashes and tried it out yesterday.

Obviously, since it was my first try, it looked awful and fake! But Mr. Sun seemed revved up about it so now I'm wondering if he'll sing a different tune if I bring up eyelash extensions. :D

Long story short...I'm wondering if any of you wonderful ladies out there have successful or not so successful stories about your eyelashes. Do you do anything with them? Is there a beauty routine or technique that you do to have luscious eyelashes on a regular basis? Or are you one of those lucky gals who have naturally beautiful lashes?

And have you noticed a difference in men's attention when you do something to your eyelashes versus when you do nothing at all to them?

Sunbuckus,

Long eyelashes, short eyelashes. No difference to me.

Eyeglasses, no eyeglasses. Wouldn't make a difference to me although I find eyeglasses sexy and hot.

Just be who you are and I will like you just fine.

On the other hand it could be said that if it gives you confidence that will show and the confidence will make you more attractive. So you should do what you want but I will take you either way, all ways, or some other ways. I just like natural and find that the most attractive.

Hello Mrs. Sun,

Kiko here - and I am completely obsessed with my lashes. I too have been cursed with really thin, sparse lashes that (wait for it) get even thinner and sparser as you age!! So, as for Latisse, I use it. It does make your lids darker, but your lashes grown in and maintain a 'normal' aestetic, as opposed to a "bald lid aestetic" which is better. Turns out, Latisse lashes look relatively normal with masacara applied with a very thin applicator. You can find this by Googling 'thin mascara brush or applicator". However, Latisse is expensive and if you don't use it, your new lashes fallout. It's kinda like Rogaine for the lashes. I also discovered that if you don't already have awesome lashes, extentions only work on a limited basis. However, those glued on falsies, either professionally or done at home, are great! Throw in a smokey and and you're good to go. Check out any number of YouTube tutorials for help with any of this. Good luck and Great lashes to ya.

Krome...yeah they're fun!!!

I'm not well-versed in eyelashes, Sun, so I can't give you any useful advice. I was just thinking that after you've gotten your eyelashes to your hoped-for state beware not to become a circumvolaticililusositractator. That's Latin for an eyelash batting flirtatious manipulator. Forewarned is forearmed. :)

My wife does eyelash extensions.. She charges 50 dollars and it takes about an hour. The results are usually pretty good but there is a small percentage of people that can't get good results. I don't understand the fascination, if we are going out for the night and she wants to put on big gaudy eyelashes I love it but this laying on a table while lashes are glued on one at a time for something that will at best last a couple months? meh...

I wear mascara and am happy with that. The type of mascara makes a big difference. You might try going into Sephora or Ulta and see what they recommend for your lashes.

My friend just did extensions and loves them. I've heard if you don't put mascara on them they will last quite a long time.

I have a really hard time getting the fake eyelashes on right.

I was told to beware of having false eyelashes applied because they make your real ones fall out. Once you use them you have to keep using them...
