Swingers targeted by extremists?

Hi everyone,

I know it is taboo to talk about anything political, but I feel that this should be addressed. My concern is how some people are infiltrating alternative lifestyle venues and committing terrorist acts. I am concerned that the lifestyle community may be turning a blind eye to the subject. How might we voice our concerns to club owners and party promoters to step up security for those of us that attend these venues and events. I'm not for increased checks on us members, but I feel that there has to be a better way to protect ourselves. These terrorists are targeting those that don't follow their views and those that they consider to be perverted. The attack that happened in FL was just one of many attacks that are happening across the world. There are numerous stories of attacks in Europe that are not being reported in the U.S.

I understand that what I am writing may be considered fear mongering, but it is what it is, and left unchecked we may eventually have to deal with a tragedy within the LS community.

Not taboo, how about unnecessary? While the GLTQ community directly goes against certain religious groups 'teachings' (show me WHERE in the Bible it says anything against homosexuality...), the LS community (while it could be taken as a very small subset of GLTQ) is such a small group that I don't think it even comes up on many peoples radar. Bigger question that we have discussed is why, in this time of 'enlightenment', nobody has pushed the poly agenda and tried to legally marry more than one person (warning: attempt to hijack this thread...).

I have no issue with what the Bible says or doesn't say. I believe the LS is the final frontier of acceptance in society. Look at what has become of society, even acceptance of pedophiles is an agenda that is being pushed. The gist of my post was to create a dialogue as to how to protect the WHOLE LS community, in club and party settings during these dangerous albeit 'enlightening' times.

I know there was another thread about this topic on here, but I do remember headlines about extremist groups planning to attack French swingers' clubs. It fits the narrative of those groups perfectly: the society is promiscuous and decadent, etc. Then comes the propaganda accusing everyone of hypocrisy when the victims' private lives are "outed".

Several vacationing women were recently stabbed in southern France, reputedly for wearing shorts and thereby showing too much leg.

With that said, I think regardless of the nature of a venue, there's reason to take security seriously everywhere that people gather these days.

Surely we can all agree that a strip search is not excessive.

I think we are less likely to be a victim of a terrorist attack while attending a swingers club than we are of being struck by lightning while walking across the club parking lot, twice.

I would be much more worried about a pissed of spouse showing up at a club looking for their cheating mate, and finding them. Or club owners that haven't done their due diligence and are violating zoning or ABC laws, prompting a raid. In other words, there's a lot more shitty things that can happen to you at a club that are more likely to happen than an attack.

What twoforyou said, those are the things I would worry about, because they can and have happened here, more than once. One I would add to that list too is picketing, harassment, and basically stalking of club-goers by Religious Extremism Inc., U.S. Chapter. That's actually happened too some years ago, Amarillo maybe? It was fairly limited, since the group in question pretty much hated everyone and there's only so many hours in a day you know, but I've always been somewhat surprised there hasn't been more of that. Most of those righteous ones vs. sinners battles seem to take place in front of zoning boards and on the 5 o'clock news instead of on the streets, which is as it should be.

Having followed the growing threat situation in the US for several years, I honestly don't think that a swinger's club is in any more danger than any other venue, and in several ways probably low on the list. The terrorist look for targets that will get the maximum shock value, and honestly, to most Americans, swingers just aren't on their list of people to care about. The risk is high nationwide, but swingers not anymore than anyone else.

These days if your head isn't on the swivel and you are not paying attention to your environment, you are at a greater risk walking down the street in an city. I exercise my right to conceal carry at all times, where it is legal to do so.

mmm...not so sure, we are definitely on the fundamentalist ( not so 'fun' at all actually ) radar.
