CouplesCruise & European Rhine River Cruise 22-29 OCT 2015

Has anyone cruised with CouplesCruise? Anyone thinking about the European Rhine River Cruise 22-29 OCT 2015?

I'd love to hear about this too. My in-laws are going on a European river cruise and the brochures look great. The number of people is much, much smaller than an ocean cruise. It sounds very upscale.

My wife took a 15 day Viking river cruise last year and it was indeed upscale. She is quite well traveled and said it was, for her, the trip of a lifetime. I showed her the Couplescruise site and she said it looked quite similar, but more interesting

The European river cruises have caught my attention too. I'd never really had a strong desire to travel in Europe, but I've decided a river cruise there is definitely on my bucket list.

While we have not sailed a European River cruise yet (plan to) we have been on 3 cruises put on by Couples Cruise. They know what they are doing and do a great job of it. They have the experience and a great following so if the European River cruise generates an interest in you, doing it through a Couples Cruise will only enhance the experience. We have two more cruises booked (Takeover cruises) and looking at another one for 2017 already.

We took a vanilla European river cruise last year and it was terrific. Do ask if they have a playroom. The cabins on a river cruise are teeny tiny.

20 m² sounds not very small, should be room enough to play.

Around 80 couples. All LS. Yes, playrooms and people played. Even if not playing, typically forty naked people in the pool at 1 a.m. with the waitstaff cheerfully serving drinks in plastic glasses. Really. Think of this as a floating weeklong houseparty where someone else has made all the arrangements and your primary responsibility is to have fun.

There were a couple of excursions to shore based LS clubs. We did not go, as we were more than happy with the cruise folks and atmosphere. Parties every night on board. Four theme nights (lingerie, white, Mardi Gras, fetish). Sort of fun flashing and mooning the vanilla cruise boats going by...

Age range late 30s-mid 70s, and plenty of interest across the range. Perhaps an older and different demographic than the typical 2500 people on a Caribbean LS cruise--but a younger and far more lively demographic than typical for a river cruise, which is why the crew all wants to be with this group again on next year's cruise.

We liked the size of the group and _really_ liked the people. Professionals, business owners, people who were there because they could be there. Lots of people we are looking forward to seeing on land...

Both exhausting and relaxing. Tours included and just about everyone went: Cologne, Koblenz, Heidelberg, Black Forest...and everyone had a good time. Typically four charter buses if town was not close enough, four tour leaders, they gave out special receivers and headsets and each guide on own frequency so we moved in small packs through the small towns...

Everyone dined together. While there were always tables for two if wanted, conversations were always going from the two to the adjacent four. Plenty of sixes and rounds of 6-8. This was a very social group --we loved it!--and many friendships made. The only time we occasionally saw (and were) twosomes alone was at a mildly bleary-eyed breakfast or two. The conversations at dinner were always engaging and really opened windows into the lives of our fellow cruisers. Did we say fun every night?

All meals and alcohol included. Have no idea whether they had Captain Morgan's, although there were more than enough upscale rums. You're more likely to find yourself trying a variety of local wines, beers and regional cocktails than sticking with what you can get at home.

We wished we'd had time to meet every couple on the cruise and spend time with them. As it was, we --and maybe most couples--seemed to get to know about a dozen other couples really well over the course of the week. Spontaneous, unplanned, and it could easily have been a different dozen we think.
