Red face Condom broke! a little spazzed

Does anyone know where I can find stats on % of pregnancy with condom breakage? Wouldn't you know it we finally move on to the sex stage and on our first experience with a couple the guys condom busted. I am trying not to be overly spastic but I sooo DO NOT ever want to be pregnant again- and I am not even ready to think of all the other implications if lord forbid I were to get preggo... we are just waiting for my hubby's insurance to kick in from his new job for me to get fixed- we did him in feb. Has anyone else had this happened before? how did you handle it?

Steph (who is waiting for the 13th of next month with her fingers crossed)

Go to your local Dr or Planned Parenthood and ask for the morning after pill. Basically it's just an overdose of "the pill" (regular birth control) but taken within 72 hours of a broken condom or other unprotected sex it can pretty much kill any chance of pregnancy.. that will probably do you more good than worrying about percentages. Here's a link to more info about it...

http://www.plannedparenthood.org/ec/

and here's the number to find a planned parenthood near you... 1-800-230-PLAN

Good Luck!

And if you are not on a back up method of birthcontrol, do NOT intercourse with other men!!! EVER.

I have 1 7 yr. old son I love dearly but he was not planned. The condom my ex husband wore did not break, it slipped off inside.

NOT worth that risk for 20 minutes of the old In and Out with a stranger!

A lot easier said, very rarely done. It goes in that list of things you have to look at and evaluate whether or not you are willing to take that risk. Even the pill isn't 100% effective (nothing is). Basically it comes down to if you aren't willing to take that risk don't have sex with someone. I think you oversimplified a bit with your response.

I think the % of pregnancy with condom breakage falls into the overall % of pregnancy with a condom (along with condoms falling off). I think it's like 2% or less overall for condoms.

Julie is right, along with statistics of taking the pill for birthcontrol!

I got pregnant with my 2nd one while on the pill, and I took it faithfully! I NEVER regreted having my kids, and by the time my baby made 3 yrs. old, I finally got a tubaligation done, and even THIS procedure isn't always effective either! A few of my g/f's had that done (after me), and they still got pregnant within a year of the surgery.

ANOTHER scary thing to think about when seeking different methods of birthcontrol!

Uh yeah right this so helps me in the current situation doesn't it....

Anyways- thanks for the info eveyone else. I am much more relaxed about things now.. it was a low % and It was also in the first 7 days after my period so there is also little to no chance i was ovulating and have already told the couple we can play but I am not having intercourse with anyone but hubby till I have had my tubes tied and preferably obliterated -LOL- I guess I just spazzed becuase my youngest is only 4 months old and I am EXTREMELY sick when pregnant and 2 of my 3 kids have been premies. It just scared me really bad to even think about going through that again.

Not at all over-simple................My husband and I do not want another child for at least 5 years IF at all. I take the pill and in addition we do not have intercourse 2 weeks out of the month ( my 2nd child was born while I faithfully took the pill!)

If he and I can be that careful, why can't others be carefull with a stranger?? we never have intercourse with others. Period. NOT woth the risk. If you know what you are doing with your hands and mouth it is not necessary and if anyone pressures you, walk away!

You can take morning after pill up to 72 hours it is very effective.....you can obtain RU486 in most states ( until Geoge Dubya pulls the plug!) Dont wait..................if you think there is a good chance and you are not morally oppossed to terminate a pregnancy see a Dr. tomorrow!

PS. If you are on pill, IUD, OR Diaphram AND use condoms outside your marriage to prevent disease, you are at 99.99% EFFECTIVENESS.

I know swingers are suppsed to be so safe and disease-free but everytime we go to a club and I see peole who are not married have sex "bare back" I CRINGE!!

Hello everyone. I saw this post and had to respond.

1st off Liza your information is unclear and as such completely incorrect! The Pill, IUD, or a diaphram will do NOTHING to prevent disease lets make that understood. Hell you said it yourself. You got pregnant while on the pill. So if it couldnt even do what it was supposed to how would it do ANYTHING to prevent disease.

Now as far as condoms. ONLY Latex and perhaps Polyeurithane condoms are effective in the "PREVENTION" of STD's. And at that in a swinging society it's level of effectiveness is not 99.9% as condoms break =o)
Do not delude yourself. The ONLY 100% prevention of both unwanted pregnancy as well as disease is abstenance =o) And I for one am not into that. The swinging lifestyle, Full or soft is Play at your own risk.

Unhappy

I did not ask for your views on what is acceptable behavior and I certainly think your on the wrong board for preaching abstinance ROTFL What works for you works for you but you didn't have any helpful information pertaining to the thread/ uestion I asked.. why come into it just to smack on me for making a mistake?

yes I agree and understand nothing is 100% at preventing STD's. I guess we aren't part of the swinging world at large, we swing with one couple- they were our first, we were thier first, have all been tested out the wazzoo and are eager to keep clean so none of us play outside of each other. A monogamous swinging relationship as it were. I am glad to see someone pointing out the facts though becuase to many people are unsafe about it, that is why we have been so slow and cauaatious about doing this.

DJ-

I never SAID the Pill or Diaphragm would orevent DISEASE..........Why don't you re-read my post before you start ranting?

I SAID a combination of condom and pill/diaphragm is the most effective way to prevent disease AND pregnancy.

Reading your post you seem to think that because neither is 100 percent fool proof you might as well just fuck away unprotected and to hell with the consequences! Doesn't that sound a bit idiotic to you?

TwoBookWorms,

As far as I'm concerned you already did all you or any swingers can do to prevent disease, YOU USED A CONDOM!!!! Shit happens, condoms break, condoms fall off (it's happened to most of us, and to some of us more than once).

Preventing pregnancy is another thing. Yeah you could take more measures to do so but that's a personal choice. And even if you did take more measures would they work? It's hard to say. The way I see it if you are going to get pregnant you are going to get pregnant no matter how many forms of birth control you use. I know people who have gotten pregnant despite vascetomies. It's just the way things are. There are no 100%.

Swinging is a choice and it is a choice full of risks. Some people choose to avoid some of those risks by soft-swinging instead of doing full swap but that is their choice and if someone else chooses to do full swap that is theirs.

Liza your comments as to what a person SHOULD do were a little too late in regards to this posting and in being late only served to oversimplify a matter. AS I said before some things are easier said than done. Yes I realize that you choose not to have sex with your own husband for 2 weeks a month to avoid pregnancy but again that is your choice.. one that I doubt most swingers (as it is a sexual lifestyle) would be willing to make.

DJ, Liza is right you did misread her post she was mentioning IUD's etc as birth control and Condoms only as an STD prevention.. but again I have to point out that hey condoms break and when they do.. they can't prevent STD's any more than not using them.

It's a choice you make and a risk you take.

Not all birth control is 100 percent effective so why bother using anything???? Are you people all NUTS? If I thought like that I would have 6 kids and another half-dozen abortions!

My husband and I do not abstain from SEX 2 weeks or even 2 days at a time..............We abstain from intercourse. Everyone seems to forget there are MANY ways to enjoy sex without intercourse that do not result in pregnancy and are far less likely to result in the transmission of disease.

Personally I don't fuck others, period. But if I did I would be an arsenal of birth control...............condom, pill, etc. To say that if you are meant to get pregnant you will regardless of the precautions you take is crazy.......Luckily more people do not think this way or we would be so overpopulated no one could breathe!

speaking of birth control...haha..Ron was telling me about a new Patch thing thats coming out in December. It's suppose to be 100% proven effective for preventing pregnancy. Must be like the anti-smoking patch...sounds interesting.
