| Quote: Oh yeah, and I did get the gumption to go jog five miles today in the misting rain-like stuff falling from the sky. It wasn't the most pleasant run but I got it done. Then I ate a salad with grilled chicken for dinner... then I ate the noodles that came with the salad... and three pieces of chocolate... and a cordial. If I could just stop with the salad, I'd lose weight. But since I don't seem to be able to, it's good that I went jogging .

Looks like my mix it up exercise program did me some good. I'm something I haven't been in the last couple of weeks. Sore. That good sore where you know you hit the right amount that gives you increases. |

Time to try to bring some life back into this thread... The wofe and I finally got back to the gym tonight, after having skipped / blown off / just plain not gone for most of the last couple weeks. My arms are a little sore, but it's the good kind of sore, that tells you you've been working hard. I think it also helped my mood today, after getting back to work after a 3 day (was supposed to be 2.5 day) weekend. But that's for the Whiners, moaners, and groaners thread... I think though, not going was for the best, as she initially took a 1/2 day on Friday to go in for an X-Ray, as her knee has been bothering her a bit, and mine was also acting up a bit last week. Today, no problems, her's "twinged" once while there, and once on the way home (Dr thinks possibly arthritis, maybe, for her, but it was a guess) Now to get back in the rhythm of going regularly, and to work on improving our diets. Keep suggesting we look at doing the "Body for life" that Chicup suggested way back at the dawn of the thread... Jason |

It all comes down to what you are looking to achieve, the more muscle you have the more you have to eat. If you just want to be lean you have to eat healthier and do more cardio. People need to stop being lazy it doesn't take much, my husband and I workout 1 hour a day 5 days a week, that's a total of 5 hours a week most people spend more time than that watching TV. Some people might say I have good genetics, nope my husband has good genetics he can eat most foods and grow and his chest always sticks out further than his stomach, I myself have been large most of my life I was 170 pounds at the age of 10 and almost 200 pounds when my first daughter was born. I am not going to kid you it takes time just not a lot of it, more persistence than anything else.

I am doing well on the exercise front, but not the eating front. My routine has changed so I do more group exercise at a health club as opposed to jogging and Bowflex. Total time and ergs are close to the same, though perhaps I have more weeks of only three sessions a week instead of four than I used to. Meanwhile, I have a harder time being disciplined about eating. Therefore my weight keeps hovering around 147 (149 yesterday) instead of 144-145. It's a small difference but if I let it become normal, I'll creep up more before I know it. BodyStep, here I come tonight. |

For a variety of reasons/life pressures I find it hard to work out on a solid routine schedule. I unfortunately go for a few weeks without tons of sessions and then have time..so this week so far Sunday - bike ride 1.5 hours (hilly)..that hurt. Monday. 60 min Power Yoga. Tuesday (today) 30 min of Pilates and 30 min of Step Interval...wow am I sore! I think tomorrow will be a rest day!

I can't wait to join this thread next week! (providing I get the clearance from my doctor next week of course) I'll be really let down if I have to wait another two weeks. My legs got sore just from walking up and down stairs too much the other day, I can't believe how weak I've gotten over the past 5 weeks I'm trying to take walks now to build up my endurance, I don't think I'll be able to run next week but if I can at least walk at a faster pace I'll be happy with that. I hate how quickly I get fatigued. In the long run I want to tone more than anything, I can't believe how soft my body's become over the years. I don't need to lose weight, I just want to gain a little muscle. My husband wants me to do the P90X with him but I probably won't be ready for anything that intensive until I'm just a little further out from my surgery. |

We joined a place called "Anytime Fitness" back in June, and it has helped get both of us into better condition. My wife still tries to get out of going, but I am working her up to three times a week. I can tell that my breathing is quite a bit better, and my strength is also greatly improved. |

| Yes, they are a chain. The advantage is you join the one near you, but you can use anyone, anywhere, when ever you want. So if you travel, this can come in handy.
