Well, we gone and done it. Scully has lost 20 pounds since she has switched her lifestyle of eating whatever to eating healthier and walking the dogs a little more. Me? I got a good deal at this fitness club; no classes, mind you, but they have the weights, bikes, elliptical bikes, and treadmills to boot. I started working out three days on and one day off. So far, seven pounds have dropped from me but my goal is 93 lbs to get back in shape again. There are other factors in play here: *Few to none visits to the fast food places. *Few to none junk food. *Nuts and water *A new attitude towards working out cause "I HATE working out!" *And the desire to dance, fit into pants sizes bellow 40 inch waist size, and a healthy look. Did I mention "I HATE working out"? I wish I could say this is all about vanity, but it is more about doing my share to stem the health care problems in my life. While I'm still able, I need to do for me what I can so I when I do need health care I'm not a huge obese risk to myself. Mulder (Mulder/Scully) |

Another day of lifting heavy things. I'd say my motivation is about 70% of what it was when I started 6 weeks ago but still there.

It's been raining all day yesterday so I missed my bike ride, but I did reload my frame pack and hiked it to the top of the ridge and back. My glutes were complaining When I weighed it when I got back I found it was a wee bit more weight than I'd been doing, about 65lbs. No wonder I'd popped a grommet where the shoulder strap connects to the frame when I'd picked it up.I'm missing the bike ride though. We got a Wii Fit for the winter, so I hope that can keep me motivated. |

Last two days have been good -- morning stair-stepping in front of the TV for an hour with other exercises mixed in. If I could just string together several days of keeping my eating under control, I'd get back to 144 instead of hitting 146 oh-so-briefly and then rebounding in the wrong direction. It's a week and a half until the big Hallowe'en party, and I want to feel and look as good as I can!

Today I didn't have time to ride since we were going into to town to see a play, but I took my normal 60lb pack on my hike up the hill and added a 20lb mineral block for the deer and hiked the whole shebang up the hill. Not fast, either. But I didn't have to hike it back down.

.I have been pretty good, only because I am being disciplined enough to put exercise above some other things that perhaps should take precedence. But I am afraid if I use those things as an excuse to skip a few workouts, I will just continue to let it slip. For the past couple of days I've been within one pound of my normal goal weight. Of course that's still ten pounds more than I'd really like to weigh, because after all I am a woman and we all want to lose ten pounds. But I feel good. Still using this Saturday night's house party as motivation. I want to feel free and confident when we all start running around naked.... which we certainly will.

Oh man, it's so easy to lose motivation, too. Since we got back from our hike I've gotten half the amount of exercise and eaten more poorly. Last week it was because of the nonstop rain keeping me off the bike. This weekend and so far this week it was the great weather allowing me to get the new solar panels on the roof, and all the outdoor winter prep work. Monday when I went to try to beat my time on one exercise my watch screwed up and I have no idea of how I did. Today, inspite of the last nice weather day for a couple days, I promise to do my hike up the ridge AND my bike trip. If the rain hits tomorrow, I promose to do the hike, and 45 minutes on the Wii. |
