I tried those ankle and wrist band weights once. They bruised up my ankles and wrists.

| I have really enjoyed this motivational thread! I have been considered pretty much a bean pole most of my life. Everyone has told me "well when ya turn 30 it will catch up to you". Well I waited...now 37 and I think its begun.... Anyway I have gained a few pounds here in the last year and want to nip this gain before it gets to out of control. I already have pants that I cant button anymore, and I have been the same size for years.. I have always been able to eat anything, now I am watching calories which I never had to do before... Ideally I want to tone up, become a little more defined, I just feel flabby in some places...So here I am with assorted work out paraphanalia, but I lack one key workout ingredient.... Motivation! I start off good for a few days then fizzle... My only work out companion is my dog, who eagerly walks the neighborhood with me but he is eager to sit on the couch with me too... So this thread has been a good kick that I need! Yesterday I purchased a workout dance vid, since I love to dance, my hopes are to combine working out with the opportunity to learn some new moves too My hopes are that I can build myself up to pole dancing since I hear that is a good work out all in its self and fun too!I have the sugar issue too, I would love to workout early but I too have to eat first other wise I am a shakey mess. I will try the orange idea, when I go for walks in the mornings. As far a good protien sources, I eat eggs for breakfast, tuna for lunch, what else am I not thinking of protien related that I could add in for snacks or with meals? Thanks everyone |

Now that your on board I hope you post after your morning walk/work out. Each morning I look at the screen ( all three of them ) and tell myself NO, I won't log in till after the walk. At least until the snow falls. But maybe Ill be in shape enough the snow won't matter. |

I didn't have the best fitness day today. I didn't work out, and I had a pint of ice cream for dinner. I'll weigh myself in the morning and face the music. | |

Love my snowshoes, and what a workout! Sadly, with an el nino winter ahead, probably won't have much chance to use them.

I decided against a morning walk and started out with my new dance video. I did the first segment beginer basics..... wow I am more uncoordinated than I thought! I felt like a clutz. The dog looked pretty ammused too as he watched me with that tilted head... I did pretty well, and can feel certian muscles that I had forgotten was there... practice, practice! I will have these cool moves down in no time ![]() Me and the dog will head out for nice afternoon walk here in a bit. I will have to find my pedometer.. |

Being the thread starter, I've not posted in here in a bit... This has been a bad week for me and the gym. The wofe and I have only gone once or twice this week. Partly, I'm trying to cram for an exam today (MS Certification,) but we still could have gone later, even if only for treadmill time... Went in to the Dr for a checkup today, blood draw for my cholesterol check. Blood pressure's down, heart rate was clocked at 68 sitting there, weight is 193. Hopefully, my cholesterol is down, between the meds and going to the gym. She thinks my BP is down, partly because I've cut back on the coffee / pop, as well as the gym. So, positive steps, just need to keep putting one foot in front of the other... Jason |

Five mile jog yesterday, weights today. Weekend to be spent in the car and generally in a place where good food choices will be difficult. There will be some walking.... but basically I'll be trying to limit the damage. I'm only about a pound or two over my most comfortable weight, horray! |

Tomorrow is our workout day, its been such miserable weather its harder to find some of that motivational spark, but its still there. Also now that my ab workouts are paying off, i have some definition, which makes my last 10lbs to lose even worse looking since it shows up more. Its like "oh there is where the muscle goes into the fat roll". Quote:

First 3 lbs gone ![]() I'll be traveling for a few weeks. Not sure what kind of access I'll have to any equipment. Don't have room for the bike. But I will be coming back thinner ! NO highway food !! Have the camper stocked with the basic dehydrated or at least healthy food, So I'll kind of be starving the weight off. |

| Darn it, I have a set of those and I didn't think about bringing them. Oh well. Nothing is stopping me from doing other exercises in the hotel room... except... you know... laziness.
