The wife S is going through something right now that has me concerned as well as frustrated. She is having a problem where all her skin is very sensitive to the touch and not in a good way. In addition, her back aches and she can't seem to lose weight even though she is eating correctly. The doctors have me frustrated because they have done MRI's, Blood work, Cat scans and all same the same thing, "your fine". Her pain management doctor at least was honest and told her that she had a couple of discs in her neck degenerating but that "its nothing to worry about" This was after a visit with our primary care doctor that looked at the x-rays and scans and said "everything is normal - don't worry". Now she is starting to have tremors in her hands. I am so frustrated to have to watch this vibrant woman slowly being reduced to being in pain all the time and on meds. Obviously the skin pain has reduced the sex to zero but that doesn't matter, I just want her to be pain free. Time and time again we seem to have the luck of the draw and get doctors who are more interested in money than the cure. Ok, I have had my rant, I just need to tell someone who would understand that my wife comes first and foremost. Julie if you want you can delete this. |

I urge you to get a referral to a neurologist. Tremors are not normal, nor is pain. I've been in the health care field for two decades. I've noticed in these parts that if they can't figure out what may be going on, it's either "all in your head" or "you're fine because nothing shows up on x-rays". It's not a case of getting old, either. I implore you to investigate this further with a qualified neurologist.

I feel for you and no need to delete this; this is a place to share whatever you want to share - except politics - the people here are some of the most supportive I know of, so share and vent away. I don't have any advice for you except to keep looking for new drs that will actually listen to you. |

My mother had similar problems for years and couldn't get anyone to help her either. I agree with the others when they say see a neurologist. It sounds like something neuromuscular. They finally diagnosed my mother with a rare disease called dermatomyositis. Don't feel bad about needing to vent I did the very same thing on this same sight not but three or four weeks ago. I hope everything goes well with your wife please keep us updated.

Thank you all for the kind words, the neurologist stated in the exam he didn't feel that she was suffering from nerve problems. He is sending his report to the other doctors involved and we see the dr that thinks it might be MS on the 18th. In one week she has gained 20lbs of water weight and we have had her in the ER twice. They have her on two diuretics and bed rest for now. I will update when I have more.

Hang in there & keep us updated, please... If I were a religious person I'd pray for her well being & a healthy recovery ... but I can at least send warm wishes & good thoughts. |

Wish you both the best and if there is anything that anyone on this board can do for you two, please, let us know!! I would also like to be kept in the loop. Out of curiosity, does she have any first degree relatives with MS? |

HI all and thank you for the good thoughts. ![]() Update on S: The doctors so far think it might be MS and are doing more tests in that direction. The good news is that the Neurologist said that her nerves are ok. S noticed a lump on her one thigh that seems to radiate the pain on her legs more than the other and the Dr. is going to refer her to a surgeon to check it out. They just recently put her on Baclofin and the dr said that if it worked that it would point to possible MS. It does work but they have had to increase the dose. They are running several more blood tests to rule out other things. Finally we seem to have new drs that are listening to her and so we are getting somewhere. |
