Question would another title have helped or hurt Swingtown??

Here's a discussion I've seen on the network board for Swingtown, and I thought I'd bring it here.

Would Swingtown have better ratings and be getting more exposure if it simply had a different title (but the content stays the same)? Personally, I think it would. I know of many people who don't watch it simply because they assume it's all about swinging, and those of us who do watch it know that it is much, much more.

Or, do you think a different title would have hurt the show because of the (presumably) lower interest from those who participate in the lifestyle?

What do you think?

First impressions are very powerful. The show's title and synopsis become the first impression. On the other hand, I think the title is "catchy".

I wouldn't be watching it except for the chatter about it here made it interesting for me.

When CBS was hyping the show, they made it clear that it was about swinging in the seventies. Maybe if the show had been about some young (20's or 30's) modern day swinging couples, it might have attracted a broader audience. As far as a different title, we're not sure if that would matter much at all.
