This bothered me too. The double standard is very deeply ingrained. I've experienced this to some extent, where my non-sexual misbehaviours were treated as "cheating" but his overtly sexual advances on other women are just "flirting and having fun". What I did was still wrong though, and it occurred when we were first getting into the lifestyle and didn't have the experience or communication we have now. When we decided to try the lifestyle, we had to re-evaluate a lot of things in our relationship, and a lot of things in our lives. Everything we know and feel is built up from past experiences, what we've seen growing up, what we've been taught by our parents, teachers and clergy, and how everyone else around us behaves. That doesn't mean the status quo is the right way - it's just the way it is and always has been as far as we know it. When you change one of the fundamental blocks that everything else has been built upon we have to expect that the foundation is going to be weaker until we get a chance to rebuild it based on our new beliefs. I hope that is where the writers are going with Bruce and Susan. I'm still not sure if they are really going to show how people really can incorporate this lifestyle and have it strengthen their relationship, or if they are trying to show that it is a bad thing. I think they are doing a good job showing a lot of the things that really happen in the lifestyle.... but it all depends on how they decide to spin it. | |

While I thought this was a good episode, I was very disappointed in Bruce and Roger. Bruce, for continuing his double standard AND the heavy makeout session with Melinda in a public place. If he doesn't 'fess up to Susan but quick, they're on a fast road to disaster. And Roger should have taken more responsibility when Janet confronted Trina. He let Susan do the explaining and her and Trina take the brunt of Janet's (justified) anger. When he did finally try to talk to her, he made an excellent point about her needing everything to be perfect, but it was too little too late. Giving up and walking out was NOT the way to handle things. I didn't pay much attention to the previews for tonight's show, but from what I'm reading here I find it hard to believe that the six main characters are all hanging out together so soon. They all need to sit down and talk things over. =) |

I finally got around to watch this, and so far it is my favorite episode. Fast paced and with a lot of twists and turns... that is how I like my TV shows |
