Swingtown Vs Desperate Housewives

Desperate Housewives seems to have been a much watched TV show. It appears that the show is all about couples cheating on their mates-pure and simple. That's not what the swinging lifestyle is about as most of us understand, believe, and, practise.

We have enjoyed watching the first three episodes on Swingtown. So far the show seems to be nonjudgemental about couples swapping mates for social and sexual acivities-intercourse included. This is quite a departure for network TV shows. Not sure how the series will all end up. It is entirely possible that the show could end up in some kind of disaster visiting upon the swinger couples for the "sins" they committed. Let us wait and watch.

We would like to hear some views from members of this Board comparing and contrasting the two shows. We are not sure that Desperate Housewives has a larger audience of women vs. men.

I've been a fan of Desperate Housewives since Day 1. Actually Desperate Housewives is about a lot more than couples cheating on their spouses. There is cheating on the show (just like on most nighttime drama/soaps) but that is just a part of it.

Each season of the show has focused on some "mystery" that the wives of Wysteria Lane are trying to figure out ... the first season was trying to understand why one of their friends (who narrates the show) committed suicide.

Of the 5 women on the show (not all are actually wives), only one has actually cheated on a spouse on the show. That marriage has been on and off throughout the seasons of the show. Two of the other "wives" are single (or were until this last season when one of them got married). The second single one is known as the bitch that tends to sleep with anyone and seems to steal other women's men.

Agree with Julie. There have been way too many murders on that Wisteria Lane! They probably make up 99% of the town's crime rate!

OK, but who (either couple or single person) in DH would you think would be most Swingable?

Edie is the most swingable by far....I think that Lynette might be interested in it.

I use to watch DH all the time, but after the writers strike and a little bit last year I lost interest, pretty much because of the numerous murders, and different storylines that were kinda over the top. I prefer Swingtown so far to dh.

I forgot about Edie... you're right she would definitely Swing like crazy!

Edie is the only one I could see swinging... of course she's the single female of the group.

If Susan and Mike actually could manage to develop decent communication I could see them getting involved.

Had Bree first husband not gotten killed off I could have seen her coming out of her shell a bit for him and who knows where that would have gone.

Lynette and Tom already have too many trust issues. In the first season I would have said they would be most likely to swing... but of course this is a soap and they must have drama ... and they've had plenty.

Gabrielle doesn't have any respect for Carlos (thus the cheating) and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I do have to agree with the comments that the last season or so have gotten a bit out there. I do think much of that was just them trying to play catch up from the writers strike and as a result cramming too much into a short amount of time.

Mike & Susan maybe but Bree is too worried about her social status to even consider it IMHO

I don't know, I think she has calmed down a lot since season 1... and I do think that if her first husband had not died she might have opened up a bit more with him.

Sometimes it's the people who the most stuffy & controlled in their real life that really let loose in swinging.
