Default Who do you relate to?

Tonight while Dave and I were watching Episode 2 of Swingtown, we were wondering what couple we most resembled, related to, or was most like.

We're nothing like Janet and Roger. We've crossed that threshold and are happy with our swinging life and we even brand ourselves as swingers. We don't deny what we are.

We're kinda like Bruce and Susan. Maybe 25%. We do love each other deeply and put our family first, but that's pretty much where the similarity ends. Maybe when we first talked about swinging.

We're kinda like Trina and Tom. Maybe 75% Very much in love but happy that we're empty nesters and can pretty much go and do whatever at the drop of a hat and not have worries.

Which couple do you relate to more?
  • Tom and Trina -- Deeply in love, always looking for fun with others, live in a really cool house where all the parties happen, and ready to go wild at the drop of a hat.
  • Bruce and Susan -- Deeply love each other, put their family first, unsure of their choice they made in episode 1 and she is hesitant to try again -- although with the ending of episode 2, Bruce might be more ready than Susan?
  • Roger and Janet -- Love each other but you can tell that Roger kinda wants to expand and is a little bit more open minded and Janet is too held back by some deep, dark force that won't allow her to think outside the box and just have fun. She's a little introverted and thinks she is blissfully happy in her marriage playing bridge and fixing supper for her family.

Do you see these couples as different than we've described?

Based on the descriptions given, we're closest to Bruce & Susan. Our family life/kids comes first most definitely. As for interest level, Mr. Sweet probably is more hesitant than me, overall.

=)

Great question...

18.74% (this is a rough estimate) like Bruce and Susan. The similarity comes from the family first issue. This assumes Tom and Trina wouldn't be the same if they had a family.

81.26% like Tom and Trina. After our first experience after the first party we attended Mrs. Ekies took the kids to Busch Gardens and was gone ALL day. What we found is the we couldn't wait to tell each other how much fun we had and that we should do it again soon.

I must say I enjoyed watching Susan work things out in her head. They did it, she made them promise they wouldn't do it again and now she's right in the middle of things trying to decide if this is right or not. My favorite part is her realization that Trina is a beautiful, sexy woman who lives a life similar to hers...but has a FASCINATING hobby.

I would have to say Bruce & Susan. The scene with them at the Playboy club when he said "you just keep surprising me" about brought tears to my eyes because that is so much what it's been like for us. Every time we turn around it's just another door open and we are both walking through it together.

We're definitely more Tom & Trina with a good bit of Bruce and Susan thrown in. We're very family first but, as our kids have grown and left home (one left to go) we focus more on us and what we want. Once the last one leaves and the house is remodeled for 'Party Central'...we'll be Tom & Trina, keeping Bruce & Susan on the back burner to pull out when the kids are around.

I like that thought, it sounds a bit like us except we're probably more like Bruce&Susan on the week days and bump up the Tom&Trina component on the weekends when we can.
