Default Was partying with the neighbors really that common?

As we were wee tykes back in 1976, I have a question for those of you who were around and active during the "Golden Age of Swinging" (hey, I'm trying to be tactful here).

Was it really common to party with your immediate neighbors like that? That rather surprises me. Sure, we're on good terms with the people on our street, but we would never even consider playing with them...

I wasn't really around the swinger scene then, but we've (me and the Mrs.) have sometimes wondered if a couple that is actually our neighbors are swingers. I dont just think it's cause they're attractive, but they seem to give off some sort of vibe. We aren't necessarily good freinds with them, but the thought becomes verbalized between us from time to time.

Default Re: Was partying with the neighbors really that common?

Not really any more common in the 70's than it is today. The major difference today is the availability of meeting places from publications and web site to clubs.
It does however, today as it did in the 70's, add a whole new meaning to the term "fuck the neighbors".

You couldn't pay me enough to party with the neighbors. Because, that means you could never have another party without inviting them. And if the husband turns creepy or you realize the wife is a drunk, there you are...always a few steps away. You'd have to leave your house under the cover of darkness all the time.

Nah...I've never had neighbors that hot...

Good point, Pepper.

(knock knock)

"Um... yeah?"

Neighbor: "Hi there! We were wondering if we could come in and borrow a cup of sugar?"

"At 3am?"

Neighbor: "Sure. What's wrong with that?"

"And why are you naked?

Yeah... bad idea.

But, along the same lines, that explains the drastic increase in UPS and FedEx delivery men dropping by...

"Oh, oops! Sorry! I got the wrong address again! Sorry about that. See ya tomorrow!"

Parting with the neighbors was a little more common in our area. Suppose you were at a pool party and things were relaxed and some nudity was involved. Then after the party one couple shows up at your house partialy naked. Now throw in the concept that they are very attractive..... Well, come on in. See, it was just different. We didn't meet them through Swing Lifestyle.

I'm 67 years old, so I was there in the 70's.... My present husband and I didn't party or swing with the neighbors, but I was into having sex with other guys on a regular basic's, with my husband's blessings of course....

It started in the late 60's with my first husband.... There was this black guy where I worked, that had told me that he would like to have sex with me sometime, if I was ever interested....

Well, I had never had sex with a black guy, but had always wanted to give it a try.... That evening when I got home from work, I told my husband about this guy, and also told him that I would like to take the guy up on his offer....

My husband said that he had no objection, if I want to invite the guy over for sex, as long as the guy and I did it at our place.... He said we could have our privacy in the bedroom while the guy was there.... The very next day, I told the guy that I would like to have sex with him. but he would have to come over to my house to do it, and meet my husband first....

A couple of nights later the guy dropped by, talked to my husband and I for a few minutes and then the guy and I went into the bedroom where we could have our privacy and had sex....

It was great.... The guy had a thick nine to ten inch dick.... The biggest dick I had ever had at that time.... He screwed me for about ten minutes or more before he cum....

When he was done, I told him that I enjoy it and that he was welcome to drop by again sometime, if he was interested.... And to be sure and tell any of his friends that might be interested that I was available for sex....

Well he did tell some of his friends and before long he and other guys he had told were dropping by and having sex with me on a regular basic's.... Sometime's two or three guys would drop by together and I would have sex with all of them, one guy at a time.... As soon as one guy finished screwing me, then the next guy would come in the bedroom and screw me....

That was the begining of my having sex with other guys and I still to this day, have guys over for sex when I have the time, but not with the neighbors....

Sincerely, Verlene

I remember the summer "block parties" in the late '60s. I was too young to know what was going on - but even as a kid I could recognise that sex was in the air. I didn't really think much about the couple of houses that were off limits to kids - I was too busy chasing girls with bugs. Those were innocent times - at least for me...

My former wife and I started swinging in the seventies. First with my best buddy who was newly seperated. Next, two seperate couples that were friends of my wife. I think we would have been open to parties, but we just didn't how to find them.

I was living in Europe in the '70s and was at a couple of parties that unexpectedly turned sexual. I was never aware of any organized swinging.

In my opinion, there were three facets about that era that made the times different from today. The first was that pot was so widely accepted; the second was that the birth control pill, still relative new at the time, had set many women free sexually, and; the third was that the worst STD one could get was easily cured with a shot of penicillin.

Ah, were it so today!!!

Like you, I was a kid back then but do recall one of our neighbors.....she was a housewife and had men over during the day at times. one time the guy didn't put his parking brake on his truck and it started rolling down the hill. my mom rang the doorbell, wife answered in a robe. the guy went running after his truck while pulling his pants on. us kids thought it was hilarious their backyard also had a tall privacy fence which we kids were told to stay away from. naturally that made us HAVE to see in the yard so we climbed a tree to see wife & hubby laying out in the sun - nude. they'd have parties that none of the other neighbors were invited to, drapes closed, and from our tree viewpoint, I now know those were swinger parties. us kids never told our parents what we saw either. like the other grownups, they'd have regular neighbor parties periodically, too. and always participated in the block parties and were good neighbors. looking back, I'm sure at least a few of the moms, mine included, knew what was going on but just accepted those neighbors like any other and tried to give them their privacy.

We were in the MD/VA area during that time. Although there were usually 'vanilla' parties on many holidays (4th of July, Labor Day, etc) on our block, they were pretty much no wilder than the occasional booze-inspired 'Dirty Dancing'.

None of the 'adult parties' we went to in the 70s were in our neighborhood. As a matter of fact they were usually at the homes of people who had more private properties with privacy fences or tall hedges and quite a bit more distance between houses than the average neighborhood.

Like many have already said, we too would shy away from playing with neighbors.. too much potential for heartburn.
