| SwingTown on CBS Discuss the new CBS show about swingers in the 70's |
This is a discussion on Would you watch SwingTown if you weren't in the lifestyle? within the SwingTown on CBS forums, part of the Swingers Topics category; I've stayed off the Swingtown message boards, simply because I see no point in arguing with a bunch of ...

Mr. Sweet and I watched it tonight (Tivo is our friend!), and enjoyed it. We liked that the sex and nudity weren't too graphic, and that it focused on things besides just the sex. Like some of ya'll already said, if we want porn, we'll watch that elsewhere. I'll be interested to see how the storylines progress. In the meantime, here's a question to ponder: Is this a show you'd watch if you weren't involved the the lifestyle? =)

That said, we too made an effort to actually watch it when it was on, and Pet can tell you how difficult it is for me to watch ANYTHING live, where I can't fast forward through commercials. As it was we started it about 15 minutes late (thanks to South Park) so I did get some commercial buffer. | |

| Swingers Board Addict | Good question. Unfortunately, I don't have an answer. I watch TV shows for 4 reasons: 1- The subject matter interests me. 2- The concept interests me. (Though that's just a little different from #1) 3- The subject matter repulses me. 4- By accident. (Channel surfing, etc.) There may be more reasons, but when I think about it that's all I can come up with. So, were I NOT in the lifestyle, then: 1- The subject matter would likely not interest me 2- The concept would likely not interest me 3- The subject MIGHT repulse me (if I were a super-prude who thought my opinion about other peoples lifestyles was more important then theirs) 4- Don't know There is one other area that may make me, a non-lifestyler, watch the show, and that is that I absolutely HATE reruns, and would rather watch shows I don't like than something I've already seen 3 times. That having been said, I AM a lifestyler, and I can't imagine being otherwise. It took me many years to come to the conclusion that being so is a reasonable position (for many years I opted to view societys opinion as more important than my own), but now that I have done so, well I am what I am. To a certain extent this question is like asking me if I didn't like pussy would I go out of my way to look at it. Now, I am of the opinion that there are a LOT of people who are curious/interested in the Lifestyle but for various reasons do not voice those interests, even to themselves, and I suspect they would be interested whether or not they knew (or admitted) why. Then again, I'm not 100% sober so in the event this answer is confusing, out of line, or out of character then I completely disclaim it. ![]() Mr. knb |

But you fail to realize the base entertainment value of tweaking them. Quote:
Hell, if we weren't in the Lifestyle, I wouldn't even know about it.

| Julie's Helper | I almost never watch TV. But I saw a commercial for the show sitting at the bar at the Legion a few weeks ago and I would have watched it even if we weren't swingers. It was so far outside of the normal junk on TV I would have watched just because it was different. And I would have watched it more because the first episode set up so many possibilities for the following episodes! S
