Will SwingTown be a good way to Introduce Wife to swinging?

i was aproach by my wife the other day with this new series "swingtown" and made a remark "that should be an interesting program to watch".
she knows i would like to have a threesome with her but when i proposed to her she gets cold feet.
my question is should i watch this program with her so that she gets to know the swinger community what is all about?

Somehow I doubt the community will be portrayed in a flattering light. But I plan on checking it out myself.

You should probably watch it with her but I would not suggest that this show will portray what the swinging community is all about. I would suggest that you introduce her to this site and then as you watch the show come here with your questions as to whether or not those are true portrayals. If nothing else it will be a good way to open some communication lines.

I was having a beer at the Legion this evening and saw a commercial about Swingtown. No, I don't think it will portray swingers as it really is, but it will probably be an eye opener for the vanilla world. We are going to watch it just to see.

I would suppose there would be a whole new concept if they would have portrayed the original fish bowl parties... let alone the way the INTERNET had such and impact now. I mean, could you imagine one of the couples using Swing Lifestyle... well ..... It would have a different aspect. I dont think you would see things as they are now.

I wanted to say this because we were exposed in the late 70's and moreso in the early 80's. So that being said. Here is our view.

Back then honestly, sex came first. Issues to talk about, came second.

Now it seems, couples work on issues before having the sex.

I think an interesting topic would be what is different now vs. then. I, for instance, am curious about "fishbowl parties."

"Fishbowl parties" or "key parties" were where all of the guys through their car keys in a bowl. At the end of the evening the women would draw a key from the bowl and go home with the guy who belonged to it.

You could watch the show together, and then see what her reaction is. And if she get's into the show, you may be able to drop a hint by jokingly sugesting throwing a party. If she seems interested, I wouldn't actually throw a party and dive in. It's something that needs to be taken at a pace, usually slow. So if she seems interested, you could bring her here and research potential issues that you think of. Whatever you do take at the slower of the two of your comfort level paces. This should be about both of you, not just you.

We have not "swung" yet. We have only had A LOT of conversation about it. I have done A LOT of research on it. I have spent countless hours here on this site reading post after post.

I think that so far (this post is between episodes 2 and 3) the show has done a great job portraying the lifestyle. (Well, at least from everything that I have learned from this site from all of you "experienced" ones.)

I'm the more "open-minded" and "adventurous" one of our relationship. So far the show has helped open his mind, too.

well i have watched the show.. i think it shows a good view of the style.. not all of it as in everyday life nowdays.. but i think the parties they have shown are an accurite view. i have been talking to a guy online and his wife isn't on the swinger band wave yet.. but we both want her to try it. heheheh i have sugested he watch it with her and see her reactions. so i say go for it ... watch it together and talk about what you and her would agree to IF you where to do that... and what questions you might have. then if she will try a party with no promise to play or anything to happen but just to go... that's what got us in.. i agreed to go to a club and just see what was involved... and it ended up well.. good luck.

I think if we'd not expanded our horizons before and swung (is that a word?) in this big wide world, I wouldn't think that a lot of women or men would be ready to jump in after seeing a couple of episodes, but it would sure open up a lot of doors for communication and whether we'd want to try this or that.
