"Swingtown" on CBS? - Page 4

I have been so anxious about this coming on TV - I think the show will go over sell with people actually - So many people are into those types of TV shows and sex and the whole nine yards, so I would be surprised if it did not go over well. But I guess time will tell - I will be watching on Thursday! We will see how realistic the whole thing is and how it portrays the lifestyle.

We wouldn't miss this.

I was digging around for any old clothes we still have from the 70s so that I can be dressed for the event.

So far all I've found was a robe I made for MrLM (that he's never worn!) so I may just be wearing that and nothing else for the show's premiere.

Should be easy to slip off at anytime during the program, if I'm inspired to do so.

They probably thought that the camp factor involved in 70's nostalgia would make for a more entertaining show. The same principal was applied to the porn industry with the movie "Boogie Nights."

Here's an interesting article from the New York Times about the show's creator Mike Kelley. Apparently, the series was inspired by his childhood observations of the adults in his suburban Chicago neighborhood.

Sounds like he timestamped it in the period that he saw it in. There have been several movies that have acknowledged the swinging couples of the 70's, I think it's something that has been associated with that time period (just like free love in general)... less of something that people really think about happening today.

Though the show has had a lot of criticism, I find it interesting that the whole country is talking about swinging today. Every news clip I hear has buzzed about the show. I find it very interesting to hear the reactions of the newscasters. Most seem to have a positive "I would love to watch that" tone to their voices. I suppose this just proves that swingers really are everywhere - we are your next door neighbors, the people you see in the grocery store... Really makes you look at the whole world with new eyes.

You're just a glutton for punishment I think. So far all that's on that board is 11 posts about how terrible it is that CBS is showing this show and 1 post from a swinger couple about how they are looking forward to seeing it. So not worth it!

You're right (twice), I am a glutton for punishment (still trying to save the world), and with all of 12 posts it's not worth it.

OTOH the first episode hasn't even aired and I'm guessing the board only recently was created so it could explode. We'll see.

I imagine it will get a bit more activity after the show airs. Unfortunately, I'm not holding much hope for the show actually lasting.
