Hey.. bell bottoms had their use and where fun..... You could get your pants off over your shoes when you wore them. ![]() Had to watch out for getting them caught in bike chains though. ![]() You had to be there. |

I guess Clubs ought to advertise during the show? It's a great lead in to "do you want to know more?". Or maybe a couple of websites advertising?

Not one of my better childhood memories. FWIW: The coolest pair of bell-bottom jeans I ever had was a pair that was made of 1 inch square pieces of denim sewn together. David Cassidy had nothing on me when I wore those!

We were the stylin'ist teenagers you've ever seen. We even used to make our own tops. You needed a yard of material, a newspaper for the pattern. Took about 20-30 minutes to make.

Marie and I just watched the trailers for Swingtown on, and we are absolutely excited and can't wait to watch the show. We have June 5th circled on the calender (for Canadian viewers, the show will air on Global, same date.) Having been a fan of Queer As Folk, I've always believed a similar show centred around swingers could absolutely work. However Queer As Folk deep down was not really about being gay, just as The Sopranos wasn't really about mobsters and Mad Men wasn't about advertising. These shows really were more about love, relationships and the human condition. For Swingtown to succeed, it won't be a primer on swinging, but have it as it's backdrop, and be more about relationships, and have it's strength in it's characters and storylines. The characters hopefully won't be engaging in wall to wall sex 24/7, but actually living normal lives and dealing with normal problems just like the rest of us... |

If nothing else, it'll be a great conversation-starter with your vanilla friends. "So, have you seen that new show called Swingtown yet? Yes? What did you think of it?" "No? I think we still have an episode on our Tivo. Wanna' watch it with us?" ![]() As for whether the show will be an accurate portrayal of the lifestyle, I prefer to reserve judgment until I've seen at least the first episode. Not that I'd be the best judge of authenticity anyway, as Mr. Sweet and I still don't have a year of the lifestyle under our belts. And we were still kids in the 70's. =) |

We saw the trailer that is on the TV. I did a couple of searches for "Swingtown" on the net. From the developer's point of view, as an eight year old at the time, well, I think this will have to see what happens kinda show, but we will watch it to see. S |

Just saw this article from the LA Times on the show: CBS goes inside the bedroom with 1970s sex-swap series 'Swingtown' - Los Angeles Times |

Wow, that makes me want to watch. I love Alan Poul and Six Feet Under. I also found it interesting that they knew what a unicorn was. It probably won't be exactly like real life, just like The Sopranos probably wasn't exactly like the real mob, ER isn't really like working in at the hospital, and Good Times was a whole hell of a lot funnier than living in the real ghetto. It'll be worth watching a few times... Pepper |
