"Swingtown" on CBS?

Guess we will have to just keep an eye on their site for information.

One thing to remember about this show or anything else on T.V. about swingers, it is made for ratings, not for factual information.

I just hope that after reading this comment from the website:

"shag-carpeted suburban homes of the 1970s to find couples reveling in the sexual and social revolution that introduced open marriages and women's liberation"

This is not going to be the stereotypical poor representation of the lifestyle that is seen over and over on mainstream media. Although, the guys behind it have some very reputable work behind them.

The lifestyle has grown so much since then, and is so widespread by normal people all across the country, it is just frustrating to see over and over the same old "no questions asked poke it and move on representation of the lifestyle"

Yes, back in the days of no drama, low divorce rate and fun times in the Lifestyle. When everyone was welcome, no clubs to belong to, no cliques, just fun times and move on to enjoy life.

That's why I'm so interested in this show. I'm a Gen Xer, so I want to see how it used to be done LOL. But I promise I'm not calling anybody old...

I've often felt liked I grew up in the wrong time period. My wife and I came of age in the late 80's/early 90's. Man if we had been where we are now back in the late 70's. We would have been a hard-swinging, disco-dancing fools! LOL

I just read the CBS has Swingtown back in production and they are releasing it this summer. The writers strike had shut down production after just a couple of shows had been written.

Something to remember, even though they say this is going to be about "swingers" in the 70's, this is going to be about entertainment and ratings. If it was really about Swingers in the 70's they would have to show it on cable or direct on DVD.

This is not going to be factual. It may be entertaining though.

Looks like David E. Kelly is at it again.

The man who brought you Picket Fences and Ally McBeal is bringing Swingtown to CBS/HBO. It is a retro television series about life in a Chicago suburb, the lifestyle, and the way these lives change during the 70s. I'm happy they are doing a subject so close to home for anyone of varying degrees in the Lifestyle, but curious what is your take on it--couples and singles. Do you think a show like this can finally put a human face to our lifestyle or will it just add to the stereotypes which puts our lifestyle in a bad light? Or is it a mixture of both?

They have to make this show in a way that will get good ratings. Their market is not us swingers, it is the general population that have it set in their mind who and what we are.

Anything done for entertainment purposes is not going to be close to reality. Even reality shows are not real. They edit them and add things into them so that more people would be interested in watching them.

No one wants to watch anything about real life. Real life is not that entertaining for most people.

I am actually looking forward to this show coming out as I am interested to see how they portrait the swinging community. I am excited about it, just hope it is not too big of a joke to watch..Guess we will find out soon enough.

If they get it wrong we can always go to the web site and leave our opinion, as for me, I forgot that it was on as I wanted to see the show and assertain what I thought of it.
