"Sex with Strangers" swinger documentary

I found this article on a documentary that was done by the guys who do "Taxicab Confessions". The documentary is on the lifestyle and looks like it may be quite interesting. They go into some of the deeper aspects of swinging, ie. the repercussions on relationships, etc.

I'm looking to see if I can find any sort of listings for the movie, if I do I'll post them.

This first aired on HBO sometime last fall. At one time, we had it on tape, but I'm not sure if we still do.

It is a very well done film, and doesn't really "take sides" as a lot of so-called "objective" articles/films/shows do. They try to present things as straight forward as possible. They show the couples (and one threesome) both having fun and in some more serious moments of discussion.

Jen and I saw the film at a time in which we were still talking about becoming involved in the lifestyle (and, ok, we are still talking about it, but we are actually doing it now, too ). Overall, I would have to say that it left me with a positive feeling towards the lifestyle, however, it does bring about the realization that this is something that you both have to be committed to and willing to approach openly and honestly together.

Some of that was filmed in our home and a few minutes of it in the club. It aired last June on Showtime not HBO. The movie with about 1 and 1/2 hours more film is in theaters now. The movie website is http://www.sexwithstrangersthemovie.com/

You are right, it was Showtime. I get the movie channels all screwed up... and we tend to watch HBO more than anything else.

Was it last June? Wow, that seems like such a long time ago... funny how time flies.

Very cool that part of it was shot at your house... at least it sounds cool. I imagine it could have been a little hectic. What was your experience with that?

Just wondering is anybody saw the movie, "Sex with Strangers" (info also available at the official site).

Ever thought about swinging? Ever tried swinging? In making the feature-length documentary "Sex With Strangers", Joe and Harry Gantz, the creators of Taxicab Confessions, interviewed many couples to choose the three whose lives they followed for over a year.

Anybody have any thoughts about this movie?

I saw the info when it first came out at least a year ago. I wonder if one could rent it?

According to NetFlix, they have it for rent, but it's listed as "not out yet". My usual on-line DVD vendors, Digital Eyes and DVD Planet, disagree, and list it as "In Stock".

We saw this movie made by Joe and Harry Gantz when it premired here in Vegas.

My personal view it is a great movie to watch to find out how not to treat your SO in the lifestyle.

Joe and Harry Gantz are not part of the lifestyle. HBO refused to air this movie or be part of it.

The people that agreed to follow them around where not very good examples of what most of the lifestyle is really about.

That is my personal opinion. I have not found anyone yet with a good opinion of this movie.

Its going to make all swingers look like rabbid sex hounds.

I say this without knowing anything about it.

The reason being that 'normal' swingers wouldn't be exciting enough for this kind of thing.

No one wants to buy/rent a movie that says 'swingers are normal people just like you who now and then have group sex'.

Now I've met a few who would fit the rabbid sex hound catagory and whats funny is that we were normally warned by other people about them ahead of time. I'm sure they would make a great movie, but its not what would be the norm for most.

For what it's worth, this movie is now available on DVD from Netflix, if anybody wants to rent it.

My husband and I always ask each other if certain people we see in malls and grocery stores are "swingers". Its a game that we play...kinda like imagining couples that we see having sex...Just something silly and quirky that we do.

Haven't seen that movie yet. There was a documentary being filmed last November at the convention in New Orleans and it will soon be on Showtime. From what I've heard it puts a positive light on the lifestyle. Can't wait to see it since we were there as it was being filmed.

I think the hardest thing would be to initially find people who would want to be filmed. Not all of us would agree to being filmed for this type of show. The people who volunteered would probably be extroverts.

Also, when the editing of any of these are done, is it "lifestyle" editors, who probably would put a more postive light on the lifestyle than an editor who might want to make it more sellable?

It might be interesting to see where these people are now.

Hi Weezie - Did you see any of the footage during the preview that they showed? Just curious b/c we were at N'awlins also but we were having too much fun to catch the previews.
