Swinging in the news...

Found this news feed link last night while crusing around another message board (non-swinging related) and thought folks here might be interested in it. It's almost a promotional clip for Desire resort in Mexico but deals with swinging.

I got the feeling the reporter wasn't too comfortable visiting the resort

. Some of you might have already seen this but thought I'd post it for those that haven't.

I had not seen that one but thanks for the link. It was very interesting and I have to agree the reporter seemed shocked and uncomfortable. Even when the first couple was talking about what it does for their marriage, he just kind of had that look on his face as if he did not really believe that it could bring so much to a couple.

It wasn't as negative as I thought it would be for mainstream media, but they did take some shots here and there with words like "creepy". Overall, it wasn't bad. Thanks for the link!

I just wish swinging wasn't presented almost as an alternative to cheating by some of the couples. If you can communicate well enough in your marriage to have sex with other people in front of each other, then you can communicate about everything!

Dito I felt the same way (what the blonde said). So often when swingers are in the media they say something like that, along the lines of, "at least I know where he is when he's with another woman".

I wish they'd explain eloquently about how it brings them together, how honest their marriage is, and how swinging is so opposite of what cheating is.

There may be been couples that said that exact thing, but their interviews were not used because they didn't match the story Nightline had already written and wanted to present. I have to wonder about the couple with the blonde that you mention and I can see the producers sitting around the board room laughing "They're just like Bob and Midge Pinciotti from That 70's Show!", which you'll remember were swingers in several episodes.

Seems like progress to me. Even 10 years ago this would have been presented with a different attitude. Small steps.
