It might be interesting. Usually, though, swinger movies always have negative connotations. Seth Myers is a funny guy, so it'll probably be amusing anyway. |

The comedy concept reportedly revolves around a couple who tries spicing up their relationship by attending a "key party" for swingers. As you might expect, the decision threatens to destroy their marriage ![]() ~ B ~

That's what I'm afraid of. Do a Google search on swingers divorce and what you come up with is a whole lot of über-conservative and divorce attorney websites talking about if your partner wants to swing you should come see us to either be a) saved or b) a free consultation about divorcing them. I'm sure this movie however will just mirror the public's common view of swinging. I guess I'm just on one of those kicks right now. Mr. WS |

Anybody see National Lampoon's 'Holiday Reuinion'? Judge Reinhold plays the lead role, the character much the same as Clark Griswald. Anyhow, they end up visiting their long-lost cousins for an old fashioned Thanksgiving turkey dinner. Remember Cousin Eddie? Yeah, well add a 'free love' hippie twist and you're getting warmer. They, the cousin and his wife, offer their bed for their guests, but assume they're all going to share...and get 'comfy'. Eww? omG! Is this what people really think of us??? Even I'm squirming.

I just did a Google search on 'swingers divorce' and SwingersBoard came up 2nd and 3rd. At the bottom of the first page was this site: http://www.libchrist.com/poly/responon.html "Swingers" are known to have a lower than normal divorce rate. One study showed divorce rate among swingers was only 5% compared to the normal rate of 40% for traditional marriages. Swinging is for people who like people. There is more honestly of feelings between couples and can make a marriage more exciting with openness and carefully selected sexuality with other friends. |

I'm not one to spit out statistics unless I see the background from where the #'s came from. I have seen that 5% statistic also but if memory is correct it is from the the 80's and I do not know sample ratio, demographics, and etc. You can load a poll in your favor easy and make it look top notch, just look at any political poll. Also me thinks the divorce rate is above 50% know. I have read several studies that contribute a low divorce rate to swingers cause a lot of swingers are older(30's) and in their second marrige. The people know a lot more about themselves, instead of being young and nieve(sp) and jumping in head first to something that they were not honestly prepared for. anywho, I'll watch the film but to play to the majority it will have a negative spin on the film |

I think stats research is a very valuable thing, and as long as the data is collected and analyzed in such a way that the results are irrefutable, it can help us to learn more about ourselves and perhaps see future risks, possibilites and probabilities.

famous quotes about statistics: "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics." -- Benjamin Disraeli "I can prove anything with statistics - except the truth." -- George Canning "They tortured the data until it confessed." -- variously attributed |

I'm sure you could find stats making swinging something that looks like a marriage killer, but that would be based on people who tried swinging to save a dying marriage. Swinging wasn't the real killer, but its a nice excuse. We had a pretty good candidate for senate in Il that dropped out after his divorce records showed he tried to get her to attend swing clubs to save their marriage.

93.2% of all statistics are made up on the spot. Yes you can make statistics do anything you want them to. It's been proven over and over, that’s why my SO and I ignore stats on the news. If people would stop and think what the "experts" tell them, people would stop watching the news. On another thread there was a report that showed statistically, bi-men were actually gay, but the study only had a sampling of 101 men. Is that enough men to represent all bi-men? I didn't post (earlier) about statistics, only to demonstrate things may not be as bad as we think (I hope). On the first page Googled about 'swingers divorce' there wasn't anything negative about swinging except a story about Jeri and Jack Ryan, oops, I guess now there just another statistic. *Now back to your regular program* I can only hope the movie will show swingers aren’t bad people and that swinging won't fix a marriage that’s in peril. But I’ll bet that Hollywood will make swingers out to be crazed sex fiends with bad or no values. (Are you trying to seduce me Mrs. Robinson?). |
