I will be attending my first party on feb 11th and it has a valentines day theme. This is a house party but apparently will have up to 100 people there. I'm a bbw and have NO idea what to wear. I kind of thought white as a colour would be a good choice. Because I'm a newbie... And everyone else will be wearing black and red I'm assuming...? But how daring/conservative do I have to be? Im a farm girl and avid equestrian so my usual attire isn't complete without mud and manure. I'm just not really sure where to start at all? Other then something I feel comfortable in. Help!

Can you contact the party hosts? They should be able to fill you in regarding what the dress code is. They'll know what most people will be wearing (type of clothes, not colour probably It will be a good start for making sure you feel comfortable when you get there.White is good, so are black and red |

Hello Unicorn. The very most important thing about deciding what to wear is to make sure you feel 100% comfortable and sexy in the outfit. There is nothing worse than wearing something to a party because you "think" it's what you're supposed to wear, and then you find yourself feeling overly exposed or squeezed into/out of something. You can never go wrong with a skirt and a sexy top. Skirts can look casual or dressy, so they work in all situations. Lots of women buy dresses specifically for going out to parties and they would not be appropriate for any other event. Personally, I tend to dress somewhat sexier for swinger events than I would for work or a family event, but I'm generally not dressed in a way that would embarrass me to walk through a grocery store. Again though, that's just for my own comfort level. I carry some extra weight and I don't feel comfortable or sexy in super tight or revealing clothes. I've even worn pants and jeans to parties before. It all depends on how I am feeling. (Although some parties may have a dress code that won't allow for jeans, so checking with the hosts is a very good idea.) When in doubt: Skirt, top, and high heels. Can't go wrong! |

Thank you for the wonderful advice! You put a few good ideas into my head and I'm going to go shopping after work this afternoon! Only five days away! I'm soooo excited!

I just checked out the club website and their dress code says "collard shirts an dress slacks are suggested attire for men. Sexy Dress to impress for women". To me this leaves it pretty open... Would dress jeans and a sexy top be appropriate? That is how I would feel most comfortable and sexy.

You might as the host or hostess. Jeans, of ANY type, were not allowed, at our club. The thought being.. "most" ladies dress for the sexy occasion and it's only fair that the men step up as well. Same with "T-Shirts". If someone arrived dressed in those type outfits... there were two choices: 1) go to the dressing area and get a robe or towel and ditch the "Slacker wear", 2) go away, get different outfit and come back, either later, or some other day. Slacks, dress shorts (although frowned up, were allowed), collared shirts. On more than one occasion (but not very many) we turned folks away for dress. Some were even good friends that had been at the lake boating all day, but "dress for the occasion" was the rule, and if they showed up in "lake wear", they were given a choice at the door. Some got pissed, but they weren't missed. Others respected the intent and just rolled with it. Besides, being in a robe (club supplied) got you a head start.. LOL |

NICE jeans I think would be fine... You know, not the acid washed, pre-ripped or in any other way worn out looking kind. Pair them with a sexy top and some heels, and the look is very nice. "Dress to impress" is vague. As long as you have obviously put effort into your appearance, I would think you'll be fine. And jeans are great for women who have the ass for them. I unfortunately do not, so I wear dresses whenever possible. |
