Default What do you look for in a club/party?

We've been to about 10 clubs between Reno, Sacramento, San Francisco, and Vegas; and many of these clubs have been setup in really interesting ways, while others were lacking in some major ways. For example, we just recently went to Twist in San Francisco (before they moved) and while we had a great time, we felt that it was lacking a place for couples to hookup. There was a dance floor downstairs, which was very loud, and lots of play-space upstairs, but it was missing an area where two couples might actually be able to meet and talk for a couple of minutes before hitting the play-space.

This got us thinking about what we've liked and disliked, which, in turn, got us wondering about what others really liked or disliked in a club. Obviously there are some basic requirements, like the fact that the women are treated well, they play good music, and you really like the people -- but we're interested in tangible features like fact that Club XXX had a bed in the middle of the dance floor where my wife and I could have sex with everyone dancing around us and watching; or XXX Place had a room where the beds were all really close together and separated with just a sheet so you could have some privacy while still hearing the couples next to you have sex.

Also, what would you like to see in a club that you haven't seen, or haven't seen often enough?

Any thoughts?

Most of the clubs we have been to are about the same here in Texas.
They all have a main area w/a bar for set-ups, tables and chairs and a dance floor with a few dancer poles, cages and shadow boxes.

The VIP areas is where any and all sexual encounters take place, and the one that we most frequent has an area where you first enter that is set up with 3 different "livingroom" style couch arrangements with a dancers pole in the middle of them. The music is not as loud so it is good to sit and get the mood started.
The further back you go, there is a voyeur/exhibisionist area where the room has couches that line each wall and a platform bed in the middle. There is a half wall that looks into this room where people can watch the activities, and along the opposite wall of the hallway has 3 closed door rooms for privacy.
Travel a little further down the hallway and you will wind up in the hot tub area where they have two 6 person hot tubs and glass door showers.

We really like the setup of this club, but have often thought it would be fun to have a room that was video taped and can get the video at the end of your night. Of course, this would most likely not happen because of the legal ramifications that may be brought from it.. but it does sound hot!!!

To me the people are the X-factor when it comes to clubs. They could have the perfect physical setup, play the best music and serve great food but if the people are unfriendly or not attractive (or worse - both) then it won't matter.

That said, assuming there are cool people there, as long as there is a decent area to dance, the music is not so loud that you can't at least go to the back of the room and hear people talk and there are places to sit, I'm happy. I don't care if it's On-premise or off-premise... That just depends a lot on my mood. If it's off-premise I DO want it to be AT a hotel so that if we did want to play we could. If it is on-premise I'd prefer for it to have comfortable places to play - but I haven't really found that any club I've been to yet. Seems you take what you get and make it work. On-premise should = beds IMO.

I agree with Julie on the people aspect of the club.
If the people aren't friendly, then it could be the best club in the world, but it wouldn't be much fun.

We avoid certain clubs due to that reason!

Julie,
Have you been to The Trap yet? They have real beds in the voyeur room, the group room, the private rooms, and there are the cabana beds by the pool.

Physical Club Features

- Nice play rooms, that have fans or are not unreasonably hot
- A dance floor/social area that does not look like someone's basement.
- A good DJ.
- Decent food/snacks
- Attentive bartenders
- Smoke free would really be nice
- Couples only area for play rooms

The crowd is the most important though. Good amount of people, friendly people, etc.

I agree. Though I don't think it should have to be that way.

Perhaps, for the sake of this conversation, we can make some assumptions. Let's just say that the people are great, you find them attractive, they don't stink, and they're not going to rape your wife.

I'm trying to get an idea of what people like to do at the clubs -- what isn't working for them, and what is. As Julie said, it seems like a lot of the time you have to take what you get and make it work.

Or is having great people the only thing that matters? It could be a cold and dingy warehouse with futons on the floor as long as the people are nice?

Thanks! I know you said you like this setup, but do you find it to be optimal? Is there anything you would change? I didn't see anything about a large public play area, unless the bed is really big or the couches fill that need.

Probably the only thing that would make the area better would be a few more private rooms. There always seems to be people waiting for the rooms.

The whole area besides the main club.. bar, tables, dancefloor, etc is a play area. The couches are black leather and very comfy for any type of play if a bed is not available.
The platform bed is about the size of 1 1/2 king size beds put together, so it's fairly large. There are often 2-3 couples on the bed with more room to spare.

I'm not sure on the square footage of the club in total, but it can easily hold about 500 people within fire safety occupancy.

There is one club that we cannot stand, and maybe that will help you more in what you are seeking.
This club has no carpeting at all (no carpeting is not good for ladies in extremely high heels).
In lieu of tables and chairs, the club only offers sofas that are placed strategically all around. This setup makes it harder in our thoughts to meet people and makes it seem like we are intuding on their party if we happen to sit on the same sofa. Not good! They have sheer curtains around some of the sofas and it also make is seem as though they are cut off from others.
They have glass tables which aren't good for those who tend to put back a few too many, as well as ottomans that are the same color as the floor and we have witnessed many people trip over these.

The concept of that club is great. They are going for a "lounge" feel, but it just doesn't work in the way they are going about it.
Maybe a nice combination of tables and sofas would work though.
