We are starting construction next week on a new club and are looking for your ideas. As of right now we will be open tues - sat and members will be able to have access if they just want to stop in and hang out. We will have to bars one upstairs and one downstairs. So we want your ideas on your perfect club including the name and the couple that comes up with the best name will get a 2 year membership free. Give us your ideas. I too wanted to start a club and asked for similar responses here. Unfortunately we found it's not our time. Your more than welcome to the suggestions we received by all means

We feel the name should represent the owners as well as the clientèle. Perhaps you could give us some info about your experience in the lifestyle and get to know the community here a little better. By all means, we would enjoy your comments in the forums, as well as an introduction to get to know you better.

Yea legalities were bounced around and we have two attorneys that have gave us the green light it has been months of planning. We are going to be a very discreet club our main office will be off site so no one will know the location of the club until they are accepted. We are looking for an active swingers group that has been around awhile that needs a place to go. We will then select 3 couples to handle screening and talking with new members. We have talked to a couple of groups.

Now as far as my wife and I we have never actually been swingers but are curious and look forward to the experience so yes we are green. My wife is 34 years old 5'4" 140lbs
I am 6'4" 180lbs we hope to create an elegant place everyone will enjoy.
We have 2 silent partners that will fund this club as needed.

You realize that you can't really hide the locations. To be completely legal you will have to list both locations with state and local government in getting all required permits etc. And that is public information.

After 30+ years in this lifestyle and over 20+ years of running parties and clubs my concern here is that someone that is NOT IN THE LIFESTYLE is opening a Swingers club.

I understand your concerns completely, Our lawers assured us everything will be handled by the book. As for us not being in the lifestyle we have done our research and We have never believed mixing business with pleasure. And yes we are curious about it but we have never got up the nerve to do it yet. We just want to make a place you can be comfortable and injoy a drink and if you want to take it farther they you go upstairs and do as you please and yes it will be 100% private club.

Lee, that was a concern of mine also. But he has a point about mixing business and pleasure.

The thing that I think that Lee may be thinking, but didn't say, is that there is a personality difference between swingers and non-swingers. Some of us call it "playdar." Have you and your wife ever been to a swinger's club?

The reason that I ask this is that if you spend all of the money, and get your shiny new club all up and running, the point of failure might just be you, the owner. If the owners of the club are not comfortable and fun and enjoying what is going on, I will sense it in a heart beat. And if the owner gives off negative vibes, as a customer, I will sense it, and I won't go back a second time.

You might think about going through all of the things that we have as paying customers at a club. Your wife picking out some sexy club wear, you dressing nicely, go look at club web sites, learn the rules, go through the registration process, take the intro tour, then spend the evening there. And I would strongly suggest you do that with several clubs to learn first hand things that you like, and don't like.

And if at the end of the month, the two of you are not comfortable being in the club, then you need to find a manager who is a swinger and has management experience to run it for you.

Just some things for you to think about.

If you're not swingers, what then is your reasoning for opening a club? If it is the money I would think again. The vast majority of swingers clubs return nothing more than a sense of satisfaction much less money. There are only a few successful swingers clubs and that was a secondary issue to begin with for those.

Those are some really good points to consider, especially the part about first impressions. With all that goes into a night at a club, especially if travel is involved as it is for most, if the first impression isn't good that one gets crossed off the list and it's back to the tried and true. A more local meet and greet may get a second chance just because there was less $$ and time involved, but with us at least, clubs get held to a higher standard.

I don't know the exact background of each owner/manager of the clubs we've been to, but I do for some and they had swinging experience. I'm with NCMD, it's going to show if you don't have someone who knows swinging running the club. Those bugs may get worked out in time, but how many potential regulars tried the club once and moved on right away because the vibe wasn't right? I'd want things the best they could be before that first opening night and the new wears off.

The thing is here's the truth and nothing but the truth. My wife and I have been very open to new things. We've been to nude campgrounds and loved it we are both open to alot of things I myself would not have a problem with my wife enjoying herself cause I know she loves me, but she has reservations about me being with someone else she's not sure and we've discussed it but never took the plunge but we have tried to get in to a couple but with no response we gave up. And as you have reservations about we are the same. But yes if you know a club we can come to we would be glad to see what it's all about. As far as it goes with the club we have a off site office we talk with couples at and no one will know the location untill the time comes and then it's up to them to keep it confidental as to the location. Thats why we want a couple of couples to do our screening because they know what questions to ask. If it don't work it will be turned into a VIP Club for Doctors and lawers and will stay running either way it will be opened.
We are just down to earth folks that enjoy life and thats all there is to it. Please feel free to ask us anything as we have nothing to hide. Thank you for the responses.

Well, you and your wife have the same reservations that a lot of us have had. I did not suggest that you go to a club and participate, but to go. We have gone to the club many times (unfortunately) and only played with each other. The best club that we have ever been to is The Cottage hands down. (Sorry Lee, haven't been to your club yet) Every club is different, but it is owned by an older married couple that have been swingers for many, many years, and the club has been there for a long time. The Cottage is in Gettysburg, PA and is listed here on the Swinger's Board.

What we do works for us and many others but not for all by any far stretch.

Get out to Vegas some time, the town itself is a blast!

Opening a swinger club without ever swinging (and more importantly without going and visiting other swinger clubs) is akin to opening a restaurant without ever dining in one. I'm baffled.

if you are doing it for the money, quit while you are ahead. There's not a swinger club in the country that was making a profit before it was open a year (that's a good bit longer than most businesses take) and you are talking about an on-premise club which is going to require a much bigger investment. You'll most likely need to own your own building to start.

Back to the original issue. There are clubs within 3 hours of you to visit easily if you want to compare. There are at least half a dozen off-premise socials (which is where I'd start) within driving distance of and IN Birmingham (at least 3 just in B'ham), and at least 3 On-premise clubs that I can think of off the top of my head within a 3 hour drive (Nashville has 2 & Atlanta has at least 1). Go west S the Gulf or W to MS and you can hit even more.

You have a lot of research ahead of you before you end up wasting a LOT of money and time. Good luck.
