I'm looking into starting and owning a club. Yea, its just a pipe dream today but I have done my homework. I've Checked with all the proper officials, have an attorneys advice and have two places that are doable in mind. One in our county and one in another. I have seen clubs come and go and the real reasons they fail that I can attest to, are financial reasons. All of them so far..... Bottom line. I have sharpened my pencil and done the math. I think the club could survive with non profit for at least 3 years, maybe more, my attorney is handling that aspect. No problems with news media here or really even the general population. I know, I have done my homework like I say. I took Mrs fun to one location that has history from the 30's and 40's. (Gangster history) A hotel built by gangsters as a kind of chill out, hide out. They seemed to have liked the areas natural artisan wells to soak in. It was an old highway route south of Chicago. Its really unique and an excellent location outside a very findable small town, with local accommodations. We took one of our exploring rides to a place, that I had actually found and we were going back to see. The place is less than desirable to some... Mrs fun found the place creepy .... . But, I see a diamond in the rough .The Structural integrity is sound, its actually the land scape that is rough. Its a country setting off the highway. Here's the thing, I didn't actually tell Mrs fun about all this.... Until recently...... She wanted to know what I seem so focused on lately.... Surprise Honey ! I have laid my ideas out on the table now and Mrs fun asked me one thing. " What are you going to call it ? " I'm Stumped.... I like to think about things and have nothing.... I guess I didn't exactly think about it. I Cant exactly call it "my pipe dream".... that sounds stupid.... I mean like, who would come. ![]() I keep thinking we visited and actually joined a group, because the name sounds so alluring. What do you people think sounds good...... What would you think of a good club name or even why ? |

A fascinating story. So here is my shot. Road House. 1) Would fit a theme of this being a former Chicago Gang hideout and being just off the highway. 2) I hold to a belief that a swingers' club should not have a swinger-sounding name as that attracts attention from people who do not understand the swing scene. |

I am excellent at naming things and people, but it is one fo those things that happen when I see or meet them. I just have that knack for reading a person or place and it comes to me in a flash. Without seeing it: I got nothing.

Going with the Gangster theme, just "The Hideaway". Or look more at the history, what was the place called back then? You said it was used as a hotel, is it big enough to turn it into a hotel? Or are you just sticking with standard on-premise club? I know this wasn't part of your question, but I can't help it. You said it's a bit of a ways out, how far is it from the closest accomadations? Could you possibly set it up in a way that people could stay over night? I know there are a few clubs (mostly in CA) that I've seen that do allow for overnight stays, even tho they aren't a hotel. |
