| Your Tent or Ours? | Sorry if this topic has already been discussed, but I'd really like to get some feedback from current forum members. Some people love theme parties, and some people hate them. We like to give them a try, and if they work, we'll repeat them. Lots of people do Halloween parties, and we don't really consider that a theme party, so I won't bring it up here. If someone else would like to post about a special Halloween party, feel free! We currently have two theme parties we have annually. Our "Post-Valentine's Day Pajama Party," and our "Parrothead Party." The Post-Valentine's Day Pajama Party is held the weekend after Valentine's Day, and it's an opportunity for all of the ladies to show off the sexy lingerie their men got them for Valentine's Day. Men wear their favorite sleepwear. And if they sleep naked, they're invited to strip down. About the only rule we have is 'no sweats.' They're so unsexy... Our Parrothead Party is a celebration of all things tropical. For those who don't know, a Parrothead is a huge fan of Jimmy Buffett and his music. We decorate the house with fake palm trees, put lots of tropical decorations around, and get out the tiki torches. Of course the Buffett music is playing in the background, and the Margaritas & Pina Coladas flow as fast as the blenders will allow. We've had other theme parties as well - some went over well, and some didn't. Our next party is going to be a Bathrobe party. Basically, wear your street clothes into the house, and bring your favorite robe with you. It can be anything from a terrycloth bathrobe to a slinky, sexy little number that barely covers anything at all, or anything in between. The party starts at 8, and everyone gets into their robes no later than 10. You can leave your robe tied or untied, as you see fit. How about you? Do you have any favorite party themes? Have any ideas for a theme you haven't tried yet? Have one that didn't work out so well? Let us hear about it!

| Better than Ice Cream | Mardi Gras is always a favorite theme for us. How can you go wrong with beads, doubloons, and funny green and purple hats? ![]()

With a house party, morso than a club, I think you have to be really careful that your theme adds to the party rather than making people go "do I really have to dress for that?". I could see a great house party being built around the Superbowl as a theme... on the day of the superbowl. Come early and wear your favorite team jersey and watch the game, then when the game is over you aren't allowed to wear anything MORE than your jersey. Trade off sexual favors as the teams score (everyone scores). And put on your own half-time show. I think what kills alot of theme parties (whether it be a house party or a club) is when the hosts don't go all out with the theme. If it's going to be a fetish theme party then make it a fetish theme party and have the whips and cross and the whole 9 yards ready to go for your guests. And make sure it's a theme that is easy to follow along with. The themes you mentioned are like that. Even if you aren't a Parrothead, it's still a great Luau party. And who doesn't love a Pajama party. |

| Your Tent or Ours? | We've been to parties like the ones you described, Julie, and couldn't agree more. The themes we run with are usually designed to get people loosened up, mingling, and as undressed as possible without being completely starkers - although anyone wanting to get starkers is welcome to do so. We figure the sooner people are undressing the better, as things tend to get rolling faster that way. Getting so caught up in the theme that it takes forever to get something started never works. Our themes generally revolve around the way people dress. For the Parrothead party, the guys tend to war board shorts, swim suits, and loud Hawaiian shirts - things like that. The ladies wear everything from bikinis and sarongs to grass skirts and coconut bras. As I said - it's all designed to make things fun, get people mingling, and get people undressed. ![]()

The only one I can think of that I like is the "school girl" parties. The worst, for me anyway, are the pajama parties because so very few people actually look sexy in pajamas or lingerie. Good call on the sweats though, are they still legal to wear in public?

I have a good friend who's husband insists on wearing sweats whenever he can get away with it. He can't wear them to work but she will let him wear them in public. When we went out for NYE last year I actually had to lay down the law that he wasn't allowed to wear sweats. ICK! | |
