How do you start things at a house party?

Our first and only house party so far was a week ago. It was the b-day party for the hostess. We where one of the only couples thats never been to this couples house party before. We arrived and was greeted by the host and made to feel welcome. It was all very mild for about 1 1/2 hours waiting for last couple to show up. Watch them play some pool and finally several headed out to hot tub. We finally made our way out there(remember it was 20 Degrees at the time and very dark) Myself and Red sat in corner by the hostess and it ended up with 3 males and 5 females. And Red seemed to be the center attraction. Finally it was down to myself Red and the host. And we made to dash for warmth in the house. Only to find everyone dressed and talking. The host was still very interested in Red but stopped playing and finished dressing. So I asked Red if she would like to go check out the play room down stairs. We played until one of the single males cam and joined us. When we where all done Red went up stairs for a drink and the host asked her over and started to play some. When I went upstairs the host Red an the hostess had headed to their bed room. I joined them knowing the hostess was straight. We all started on the bed together and seemed ok till red got to close to her so she got up and went over to sit and watch. I told her I am sure we can find a spot for her. She came over and joined me on what little area of the bed we could find. With my ED I played with her best as possible and made her happy I think. But she got up and went back out t party. As soon as Host was done he also got up and went back out to party. We got dressed and headed home to play more as no one else was doing anything but talking about sleeping. Hopefully this isn't normal for house parties but we will see the next time. It really seemed the hostess was not into the party and really didn't like her husbands attraction to Red.
