I just came across the concept of an official photographer at a swinging event and was shocked!! I've only been to a swingers club ONCE where photography of any sort was allowed, and even then, it was on one special evening (Halloween) and the photographer was set up in a separate room with a studio set-up for taking photos of couples who specifically requested and paid for photos of themselves. Are photographers or photography allowed at most swingers clubs and events???? How is the issue of privacy handled? MrsOC |

I've seen "official" photographers at an on premise club before, although they are only there to take photos of people who want a nice professionally shot photo. I also know of an off premise social gathering that has a photographer at all of their functions. I'm only going by what is on their web site, but according to that information you must let the host/hostess know that you don't want any photos with you in it to be posted anywhere, and they make sure to honor your request. I personally would not be comfortable in that situation....maybe just one of the reasons we've never been to this gathering. |

We've been to a huge event where there was a photographer set up in a special room for couples who really wanted their pictures taken, and knew very well their pics were being taken. Great! Then, there have been roving "club photographers" we've heard of at certain house parties and one swing club, taking pics of whatever, including action between people. Perhaps some of the participants were too involved to notice that their pics were being taken. We have a MAJOR problem with that, we don't want anybody owning a picture of us in a setting like that. You just don't know what they're going to do with it. We don't go to parties/clubs that have their own roving photographer. Quote:
The best-organized club we know, which we've been to, doesn't even allow cameras in their building. Bags are searched, and even cell phones that can take pictures are not allowed in. We felt really comfortable there due to their level of security/privacy. Just our two cents.

We have been to events where you wear a certain colored wrist band if you are ok with having your picture taken at an event.

Our local club does not allow cameras or camera phones in the club. We went to the New Year's Eve party this year though and they did have a camera there but were only taking pictures of people who wanted them and only out by the entrance where they had a NYE back drop. The owner then would email you the pictures they took. We were able to get pics of other club members that were friends or in the pictures with us but nothing went up on the club website. The other local club we go to apparently has a professional photographer come in and you can pay and have erotic pics taken. Again nothing goes up on their website it is always just for you to have for yourself. I wouldn't go or go back to a club that allowed pictures due to privacy concerns. Mrs Spoomonkey |

We've only been to a few different off-premise events(local swingers bar) but photography of any sort is totally banned . The event host is adamant about it, it is part of the rules that are posted before you get your club card.

We definitely would not attend an event which permitted photography of any sort. We would also expect restrictions on cell phone useage (given that many cell phones include video technology). Most fitness centers severely limit cell phone useage, particularly in locker rooms. Swingers events should be subjected to the most stringent of photography restrictions, in our opinion. |

What happens is sometimes people are in a festive mood and they decide to pose for the camera but then they think better of it later. It's withdrawn consent rather than improperly assumed consent.

I have been to a couple of house parties that a professional photographer was there. However, she and her husband were both there and swingers as well. She did have her camera and if she saw something that looked like it would make a great photo then she asked if she could take pictures. When she was done she gave you her card so you could contact her to get the pictures emailed at no cost. I was very comfortable with this. She said she would never put them on her website. (and you can always make sure they do not, by checking out their website from time to time if you feel worried about it) I really enjoyed her being there. I love having something to remind me of my photogenic-lifestyle fun!

As a photographer in the lifestyle who does erotica for local couples and singles I can tell you I never just rover around parties snapping away. I usually keep my gear somewhere close on hand just in case someone wants some work done. Usually though people make private appointments and I do the work in their home or a hotel room. I can’t imagine what it would be like to just rove a party and shoot at will. I think my discretion programming would go haywire as I worried about invading someone’s right to privacy! LOL

When "Velvet Heaven" was open they had a club photographer. He would set set up his gear in an out of the way corner and take some really sexy shots when requested. He also made appointments to do sittings in the club before they opened. Some of the shots he took in the S&M room were truely masterpieces. On special occasions (halloween, newyears) he would take random shots from the club floor then get releases so the club could use them on their site. I never saw him just taking shots of people having sex. He always seemed to be looking for something artistic.
