Almost found the Holy Grail!

Well, maybe we found them, but we didn't have sex with them...yet...

Mrs. SIPs and I were out for dinner and drinks for my birthday. As we found seats at a crowded bar, an attractive couple sat down next to us. She smiled right at me and soon struck up a conversation. Turns out we live not too far apart, have kids the same age, some professional stuff in common, so there was plenty to talk about.

During pauses in the conversation, I whispered to Mrs. SIPs that i thought they might be swingers. I noticed them also conferencing a lot - big tip off. We kept not wanting to leave, so drank a bit much, but we agreed it should be Mrs. SIPs who broke the ice. Luckily, before we did, Mr. Fun said "now all we need to do is find a hot nanny..." and I knew it was on.

Mrs. SIPs took a pause in the conversation to ask, "So...do you guys like to...meet couples...?" and Lo and Behold, Mrs. Fun declared it was something they had been considering and we had indeed set off their playdar!

Turns out they weren't quite ready to play (yet), but we did kiss them - a big step for her in particular but very exciting for them and us. We traded numbers and stumbled home.

But really - what are the chances that the hot couple that sits down next to you are swingers?!? AND that you would have the nerve to talk to each other about it? What an experience. Even if we don't hear from them, it's just great to know it can happen.

Wish we had the gumption to do that. Heaven knows there have been times we have wanted. I mean, after all. What's to loose if you're in a place nobody knows you? Thanks for relating your story.

Every time I read a post like this.... I cant help it, I'm smiling from this side of the screen. Its joyful to me personally anytime I see people who find what they are looking for, in a new way. Sure some may think.. well, you didn't have sex with them. But who's to say by what you or we learn today doesn't connect with tomorrow.

What a fantastic encounter, just goes to show you should go through life with yours open. We often wonder when we are out or even driving in the car and we see an attractive couple. Guess we are just chicken lol. Would be nice but it'll never happen that some kind of signal or article of clothing could tip you off, but in no time main stream society would begin using it and we would be back to square one.

This is something I picked up in bootcamp. "They can't take your birthday away".

Doing something that is not going to result in you being killed, or in other ways seriously effected has little risk. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. If that attractive couple sits down with you, and you'd like to swing with them, you're answer is 100% NO if you don't talk to them about it. If you do, it still might be 100% NO, but there's a possibility it might not be...a possibility that is utterly absent if you don't ask.

Many times in my life I've screwed up my courage knowing that the net effect possible in the worst case is minimal at best. Just do it.

Yeah, there's been a lot of discussion about some form of symbol to alert other swingers, but I guess we just need to rely on our "playdar."

These two posts really make me think. Bunny has said before that she wishes she knew about the lifestyle earlier in life. I am sure she knew what it was but was never given any reason to consider it. I was well aware of the lifestyle but do to relationship problems in her past (cheating husbands) I didnt feel it was a good idea for me to bring up the subject. What it took was a friend who found the lifestyle talking to her about it and suggesting it. We never played with them, but it opened the door for discution and here we are today.

Now the reason I quoted the above posts is that in talking we realize that it is possible that a lifestyle couple was checking us out when we were on vacation early in our mariage. They were total strangers we met somewhere and they invited us over to their room at their resort. We really think they were interested in us but never came out and said so. The moral of this story? Had they propositioned us it might have started us talking about the lifestyle many years earlier than we did. Would we have swapped with them? Possibly, but most likely not. But it would have opened the door and maybe thats all it would take to get more people involved in the lifestyle. s the two posters above said, "what do you have to lose?"

This is a great thread and as stated earlier if you never ask it will for sure be a 100% no. I guess the problem is getting the nerve up to ask or make some sort of signals (playdar). We will get to that point eventually.
